While researching breakfast spots in Essex Junction for our weekend getaway, we came across Uncommon Coffee and were encouraged by the strong reviews. When we arrived, the parking lot was busy, which felt like a great sign. It was a Saturday morning, so there was a short wait to order and to grab a table, but the atmosphere was lively and welcoming. The interior is eclectically decorated and has a cozy, fun vibe that reminded us of the coffee shop in the Friends TV show. We ordered a brewed coffee and an iced coffee--both were excellent--and really appreciated the option of Vermont maple syrup and oat milk. For food, we ordered a regular breakfast sandwich and the Forager vegan breakfast sandwich. We were especially impressed to see a vegan breakfast option on the menu, as many places don't cater to vegans at all, particularly for breakfast. Both sandwiches were delicious, and it was great to feel so thoughtfully accommodated. Overall, we really enjoyed our visit and would happily recommend Uncommon Coffee to friends. We just wish it were closer to home so we could visit more often! read more

Good service, ambiance, and coffee! I stopped by for a latte during my recent trip to VT. I ordered a Tiger Claw which is chocolate and orange latte with Oatmilk. I was not sure what to expect from this flavor combo but it was really good and balanced. The latte was smooth and perfect amount of creaminess as well. I really enjoyed it. The next day I ordered an iced latte with vanilla from Essex Resort which uses the beans from here and that latte tasted great as well! read more

Vermonters, you are so lucky to have a coffee shop like this one! I would love to find something like this in LA. I happened to be staying at a hotel in Essex and this place popped up on a list of nearby coffee shops. I walked over, and I was blown away as soon as I stepped inside! It's huge and has a bookstore/library theme decorated with plants and knickknacks, creating the perfect calming ambiance. There is no shortage of comfortable seating. I ordered a seasonal iced maple (!) hojicha latte along with a coconut pandan muffin and breakfast sandwich, and everything was fantastic. The menu had lots of unique and interesting drink options and I wish I could have tried them all. The employees were also friendly and welcoming. This seems like the perfect place to get work done or just relax. If life ever takes me back to this little corner of Vermont, you know where to find me! read more

Went here to finally get a creeme from Offbeat Creeme. Have been so excited. Literally the best creeme I've gotten anywhere, dairy free! People in our group that do eat dairy loved it, said it was better than a regular creeme. Lots of cool heard ice cream choices, super nice staff. You will definitely not be disappointed. Also the ambience in there is really good. Good cafe music but not blaring, lots of cozy seating, books etc. Would easily be five stars but honestly kind of sick of this. The bathrooms are genderless (thats fine) but not singles..., so non locking with multiple stalls. No one wants this. Girls, guys or anyone. Just make them single bathrooms that lock, or add a third genderless bathroom and have traditional men's/women's. As a girl you really wanna share the bathroom with your father-in-law or some strange man? As a guy you really wanna go into the bathroom with all your girls friends? The best coffee shop I've ever visited! And I've visited a lot. I moved a year and a half ago and was able to stop in for the first time since - and they still remembered my regular order! Uncommon is great. Spacious, lots of nooks and crannies to cozy up in and read or work on projects. If you're lucky you'll get one of the wooden booths or one of the comfy chairs. Their coffee is high quality and their Twig Tea is fantastic. They offer vegetarian options for their breakfast sandwiches as well. One thing I have noticed over time: it's such a big space, it seems some corners don't get cleaned very well. That's my only qualm! read more

Their specialty lattes (basil & brown sugar, hazelnut fig) hooked me in, the excellent cappuccinos keep me coming, but the personal greeting from the efficient staff locked me in. Let me start with it is so much nicer inside than it appears outside!! Tons of seating, lots of open space, very cool, unique atmosphere that can be used for any purpose. Loved all the pants and decorations! They don't have a very large drink menu, but they do have a few unique specials. The maple iced latte was delicious and rich, though I wish they had more sizes (if I'm already paying $6, I'd rather pay more for a bigger size). Always wanted to try this place when visiting the area. Really nice inside, and spacious. Was in a relative hurry to make the ski area, which is why we chose a coffee shop. Was 5 employees "working". Took at least 15 minutes to get two lattes. We both Ordered a vegetable skillet. Took over 35' minutes to get our breakfasts. It was slightly warm. Flavorless except for the taste of dehydrated charred potatoes fro being over cooked when prepped. This was the most disappointing food I have ever tried to eat. Space has potential. As a former restaurant worker of 15 years, they design is not efficient. Tons of space but the employee making lattes is set up right next to the staff taking orders. Kitchen help had "to run" food from kitchen to coffee area. IMO very innefficient set up, almost too much space. Employees had no sense of urgency. Maybe not trained to help out in other areas if the business? Example: girl taking orders would be in her phone texting while the Barista is backed up with drinks. Guy in kitchen prepping food would be standing around watching the line cook prepare orders. I personally will no be back because as the food was awful. read more

This place is incredible. I've been going since they opened and it truly shows how much they have grown! The space, gorgeous. Perfect for any meeting or solo outing you may need for the day. I bring my in laws here for brunch whenever they are in town, they love it. A personal fav is the lemon ginger scone. At the same time, I go here when I need space to spread out with a laptop/forms for work and it's almost always possible to find an outlet and a spot to post up which is great. Sometimes they are packed though, usually weekends. Only downside is sometimes they are slammed so it's best to order ahead of time or ask the barista how long it'll be for a sandwich. The first impression of this place is one of a warm and spacious yet cozy atmosphere with plenty of semi-private tables to hang out with friends while enjoying a cup of their outstanding coffee and teas. We are in but 8am so things should not be dirty starting the day. Today we arrived and the floors were absolutely disgusting. Had an extremely unpleasant experience, trying to use the bathroom as there's only one bathroom for both genders. I got yelled at by one of the servers who did not like me asking the question is there a men's bathroom? Which apparently there wasn't!! I am totally respectful of all genders and sexual orientation including trans but that isn't the point when you were trying to use the bathroom and you're a man or a woman I don't think you would want either one of the opposite sex walking in on you as you're doing that it's just a matter of privacy. While the coffee is great the hospitality leaves a lot to be desired. read more

Just recently visited Burlington, and our friend took us to this coffee shop. It was my favorite in the area. It was very unique, and clean. It felt like you were in a great study of a historic scholar while enjoying a nice Maple Latte. Amazing. It appeared a large customer base was young professionals working for home.
