Honestly, the only reason why we ate breakfast at this place was because all of the other restaurants we wanted to try were closed today. This place was on our way to our first destination this morning and we said screw it, let's give a try, Ooof!! we would've have a better tasty breakfast at McDonald's for half the cost. Yep!! This place is actually really pricey for the quality of food you get here. I ordered the egg, cheese sandwich on a biscuit (because we always like to try the local restaraunt's biscuits) and I added their maple sausage. I wanted to get an almond croissant as well until I saw a fly in the pastry cabinet just have his way on all the pastries. NOPE!! This was probably one of the worse breakfast sandwiches I have ever had to date. The biscuit itself was hard as a rock, dry and crumbled upon touch. It was lousy as heck. The maple sausage was a thick patty, but small, almost like a quarter size round compared to the size of the biscuit. So for what sandwich and a cup of coffee was around $23. Heck no! Was that even worth it with how bad inflation is these days Not sure how they have such high ratings, but just be warned. You're welcome! read more

The sweet potato breakfast bar was also fluffy and healthy, but that cookie is divine. Serene spot off the beautiful Stowe Recreation Path. Woodland Baking & Coffee is a delicious and quick breakfast fix if you have things to do and places to go... and that pretty much translates for most people because there's soooooo much to see and do in Stowe and surrounding areas. We came here because I had read such positive reviews on Yelp (of course), and it definitely did not disappoint. While the breakfast menu is quite limited, I just made it work... wasn't about to be fussy. Truth be told, we were also there because of the rave reviews for their baked goods. I could've had that for breakfast, but I was more thinking something savory for breakfast and save the sweet items for later. We both ordered their breakfast sandwich, which were 2 scrambled eggs with a slice of Cabot cheddar cheese on either a brioche bun or buttermilk biscuit, both of which they were out of, so we got a spinach and feta biscuit instead. The sandwich was brushed with melted butter and delivered nice and warm. I'm definitely not typically a breakfast sammie kinda girl, but I have to say, this was delicious. Eating it with a spinach and feta biscuit actually worked great. The sandwich hit all the savory buttons I wanted and needed for the morning. It was so large, so I could only eat half. I tried to save it for a bit later, but of course, that never happened. Wasted food again, which upsets me. That's the down part of traveling. However, that never stops us from buying baked goods on the go, and we did that here. Unfortunately, we never FINISHED any of the purchased baked items, but at least we got a few bites of each. My favorites were the cinnamon roll and the brown butter chocolate chip cookie. There was something covered in a maple glaze... I think it was their version of a scone, but I don't recall what flavor of scone, but I do recall it was covered in a maple glaze. I enjoyed the few bites I had of that, too. Anything maple while in VT, one can't go wrong!! While I thought I'd like the croissant bread pudding with salted caramel sauce, I didn't... probably because I had no device in which to heat it up, so that kinda ruined it for me. I didn't dislike it, but I didn't eat anymore after the first bite, either. Not Woodland Baking's fault, but it just needed some warmth to be eaten. There was something else with cream cheese icing, and I honestly don't recall what that was or if I liked it... but it looks like something I would WANT to devour! I must take issue with one aspect... the service. It STUNK, and this place lost an entire star for it. It wasn't just service to us. Not only did the cashier girl have a scowl on her face the ENTIRE time we were there (I was watching her pretty much the ENTIRE time in between bites of food), but she snapped at my husband because he wasn't understanding what she meant when he made some menu inquiries. She wasn't in a good mood BEFORE she helped us, and she definitely didn't improve over time. Here we were, spending OUR money on their food items, you'd think they'd be appreciative. Nope. Not one thank you. Definitely NO SMILES, and she looked like it was a great deal of effort to package a box of 5 items for me. Unfortunately, while there was one more female working the counter, we got stuck with the grumpy one. My husband brought my cup back to the counter requesting more ice. In fact, he specified that he'd like it "filled to the top" with ice. The photo that I took is what we got back. It wasn't even close to filled. Anyway, I don't know what her problem was, but she should have not come to work that day if she wasn't feeling well or had personal issues. If I was back home and this happened, I would've asked to speak to the manager and told them of the situation... but I didn't here. Not sure why. It wouldn't deter me from coming back here. They do a great job with what they make and bake. For that, I'd definitely return ! read more

Had a fantastic time at Woodland earlier today. We had breakfast here today, the food was well done. We asked for recommendations, and they recommended the vegetarian and chicken burritos. The burritos were fresh and filling -- highly recommend. The employees were really patient. Another family had a child spill a drink, and the employees were quick to jump in. Another patron sneezed in my coffee accidentally and the employees gave us a fresh cup. They were great! Will be returning when possible. read more

Absolutely stunning pastry, and great coffee. We split a few things - the maple sausage burrito, a savory croissant filled with prosciutto and cheddar, and sweet bun that was filled with a beautiful vanilla bean and orange cream cheese (I can't remember the name but this was recommend to us by the barista). We also got cappuccinos, which were a classic Italian 8 oz (as they should be according to this coffee roaster) and they were also great. This will be our new go-to when we're in the area. Hands down @woodlandbaking is the best coffee shop to grab a quick vegan breakfast before a hike! Love the vegan breakfast sandwich. So flavorful and delicious! And the sausage patty is not heavy. I came to this spot twice during my weekend trip to Stowe to get my caffeine fix. The first time, I thought it was okay - I ordered a match w/ milk and a chai w/ milk, which was a bit too watery, and the matcha flavor was STRONG with barely any sweetness. But I realized it was my fault for not adding any additional sweeteners at the counter, so I am sure it would've tasted decent if I had done that. My friend and I also ordered the croissant bread, which was amazing! I originally thought that it would have a croissant texture when served warm (the barista asked if we wanted it warmed up) because that is how it is displayed in the case. However, it had the texture of bread pudding. I am not sure how they were able to do that, but it was the perfect warm bite of deliciousness on a cold cold day. I would 100% order that again if I am ever in Stowe. On the second visit, my friends and I stopped by after eating at The Skinny Pancake (in the same plaza) before heading home. I ordered a mocha latte this time, which is my usual go-to order at coffee shops, and it was probably the best mocha latte I've ever had! I don't say that much for coffee shops, but I was amazed. Even my boyfriend, who doesn't usually drink coffee, noticed how great it was. It was exactly what I needed before a three-hour ride back home. The ambiance seemed very cozy, however I was a little disappointed to not feel any of the warmth or excitement from staff as the reviews had mentioned. We stopped here on the way to our hike for some coffee and quick breakfast. The line was a bit long, but it was moving fast. I got the iced maple coffee, which was just okay. I like my coffee sweet, so I feel like it could've used more maple. However, my friend got the cold brew and said it was good, so maybe I just ordered the wrong thing for my liking. So much promise - the cortado is even the correct size and the barista poured well, but nothing a barista can do will overcome the superauto vending machine they are using to "create" drinks. I understand why this place has such great reviews, and I totally want to add on more 5 star. Especially in a more touristy area like Stowe, you don't expect much from a coffee shop, and I am not wrong if you look at other places around. But this one is so authentic and I definitely felt like people are making the best with their baked goods and everything they serve. Nothing fancy, but so welcoming and you get the desire to try everything there. We did have breakfast twice here, and we loved everything we were able to try. Very fresh, amazingly looking food, all the drinks were very good. Not to say how much I loved their mugs and plates, again, a more special touch to a breakfast spot. What a magical little spot in Stowe! If we were in town longer, we definitely would have returned multiple times. The iced cold brew was very smooth, and the matcha lemonade was unique and well balanced, one flavor didn't overpower the other. The food here is what steals the show, though. The breakfast burrito was hearty without feeling too heavy. They were pre-made and kept in a warmer so they're perfect for a quick grab-and-go, but they tasted freshly made and the eggs were quite fluffy. Every single item in the bakery display looked amazing, it was so hard to choose! The prosciutto croissant was delicious, and the croissant itself was very flaky. The sesame banana bread was moist but not too dense. They are also super dog-friendly, which is always appreciated when we bring our pup around with us. We'll definitely be back! read more

I would absolutely recommend a stop here! We've stoped twice in our time in Stowe and will likely stop a third on our way out of town! We love the breakfast options- the woodland burrito, specifically with eggs, beans, and cheese. We enjoy the coffee too, probably our favorite in town so far.
