Great idea and very comfortable, but bad location. The friendly staff showed us our tent and I immediately noticed a package of foam earplugs on each nightstand. Definitely a bad sign!!!! The road noise isn't a problem after dark, but there is a freight rail line somewhere nearby. Trains came thru all night at 30-60min intervals. And for whatever reason (a road crossing?), they always blast their horn. A very comfortable and clean facility. Bathrooms/showers were great. Very friendly staff. But if you're a light sleeper like me, be warned! Even with earplugs in, I didn't sleep too well. Very nice place...bad location. read more

Remember you are glamping! We stayed in the cabin and it was rustic but very comfortable. The bed was great and the staff was accommodating to give us more towels and toilet paper. Check in was a breeze. Location is amazing near the West Glacier entrance. Before we arrived, customer service was great as emails about questions were answered quickly. The only real complaint is there is no key to lock the cabin when we left for the whole day. read more

We're just wrapping up our stay and thoroughly enjoyed this place, even though our adult children told us, "that's not really camping," to which we repied, "exactly." Wonderful setting, very comfortable beds, and just enough of the basics to make you feel you have stepped away from the regular world for a few days. The staff was very friendly and helpful and we had everything we needed. Close to the park entrance and tons of other areas for hiking, rafting, and other outdoor activities. The only suggestion we have is it would be nice if it could have been set even further back off the main road and more isolated. read more

Under Canvas was a great experience that mixed the comfort of a hotel with the fun of camping (yes there are s'mores!). We had an AMAZING stay at Glacier Under Canvas!! It was everything we had hoped for, and more! My husband and I stayed here for 3 days recently while on our honeymoon. We were extremely thankful to Spencer for upgrading us to a suite tent. It had a king sized bed, sofa, claw-foot tub, shower, sink and toilet-- far from roughing it! There was a train that ran nearby, but it honestly did not wake me up, and I am not a heavy sleeper. We definitely would stay here again! We have stayed at three other Under Canvas locations and this one was the most poorly located (near a main road with heavy traffic... (located near such an active train track they have to provide their guests with earplugs so they can sleep), most poorly managed.... (our bed was made incorrectly, bedding was dirty, daily room service had to be ensured by calling in, bed top sheet was never tucked in during room service and on last night was simply floating under the incorrectly laid comforter, firewood was not replenished as needed, fire starters were not replenished as needed, kindling had to be called in for as it was not replenished as needed/daily, toilet paper ran low with no replacement. Staff was assuming and rude when we rolled in after white water rafting looking quite worn. They clearly thought we did not belong as we were water logged after rafting in the rain all afternoon. The gentleman at the main tent, instead of welcoming us back, simply asked, "can I help you with something?", as if we should t have been there. When I replied with, yes, we need kindling, firewood, etc, etc sent to our tent number 45, he was semi pleasant, but not what one would expect when paying over $400 per night. Last note, Staff were riding around the campground consistently on golf carts, they appeared bored and often times the same individual would pass our tent within 5 minutes of last pass by. Management needs to step in here and ensure beds, room cleaning, interaction with guests and employees in general are managed and trained properly in hospitality and customer service. This was our worst Under Canvas experience by far. read more

we check in there and i was told to be charge for $50 per tent to make sure we are not destroying anything and i will get the money back. it was 6 of us so that should be $100. I did make sure nothing was wrong. everything was perfectly fine when we left.i did make sure. after i got back in NYC i check my statement and got charge $429.99. i call them on monday. talk to this guy Matthew. said they will contact me back with in a day or a fews day. i wait til thursday. NO CALL. i call them again. Matthew pick up and ask for the details again LIKE what the hell?? Then he ask me to ask my friends about it like this is my problem. seriously. still havent got my money back after 4 days. BTW when we were there. the person who check us in did help us with the fire only for the first tent. then left us drag our bag to the second tent and left. we have to start the fire ourself. seems like no problem. Then i found the ZIP WAS BROKEN. we cannot close the tent. IT WAS A DAMN COLD NIGHT. IT WAS LIKE U CANT CLOSE THE DOOR FOR UR ROOM. i went to the common area. they said they could not help us with anything. we have to wait until morning for the maintenance. we will be leaving by that time. they also forgot the lamp. she said she will bring it for us. she nevercame. we have to go to the common area to get it.I FIXED THE ZIPPER MYSELF BUT IT STILL COLD. we are out of the fire stater. i called and it took forever for someone to come. we were already done with the fire and the heat by the time someone got it. I wish I could give 5 stars, I was very much looking forward to staying at under canvas for our honeymoon. I'll start by saying that the staff is absolutely wonderful! The less than five stars is no reflection in any way on the staff. Everything is kept very very clean and you can see how hard they work. Our biggest issue was the water in the showers... It was in the 90s while we were there and the water was scalding. Not just warm or hot in an effort to conserve water, it would burn your skin. I totally understand their concerns with the environment and wanting to conserve water, but your guests still need to be comfortable, they are still paying to stay there. The camp is very close to the road as well, so there is traffic noise. I wasn't as bothered by the train, because I like the sound of them but the loud trucks and motorcycles were a nuisance especially when you're on a glamping trip you're expecting to be quiet and relaxing. We still had a great time, and it was a great experience but we wouldn't go back. read more

Here is what I believe to be a fair review: cute and convenient location by day, fun if you want to feel a bit rugged and traditional camping is not your thing, great if you are into communal bonfires because the staff is friendly. But forget about sleep unless you are a super heavy sleeper or wear heavy duty earplugs. There is a train running nearby and laying on the horn ALL NIGHT LONG. Also forget about the privacy or convenience of a 2.5* hotel. Things that never happened to me even in a crappy 2.5* motel: I never found something incredibly gross in a bathroom (see "gift" leftover from a previous customer). I never had to leave my phone and electronics at the front desk to charge. I never banged my forehead on the ceiling lantern (that kept flickering out, probably low on battery). We booked a "2.5* hotel room" through Hotwire in the vicinity of Glacier National Park for $105. At this price we were not expecting much but something like a Motel 6 would have been nice after a week in a camper van. Imagine our surprise when we discovered that it was tipi in an upgraded campground. We did not complain right away because we thought we would be given an upgraded tipi. And the people at the front desk are quite nice and welcoming. But we were taken to a small tipi with barely enough room for 2 twin beds and a folding bedside table without heat, electricity, and with common bathrooms outside. Later we went by the front desk and hoped to discuss the issue but discovered that another couple was already arguing with them about the same issue and management refused to do anything. It was late, we were hungry, and had to wake up early the next morning. So we decided that it would be best to contact Hotwire upon our return to discuss the deceptive description and overcharge (the same accommodations booked through Glacier Under Canvas went for $81, all included). At that point we were still hoping to have a good night sleep. How wrong... See the previous mention of the train. And I feel we were taken along for a ride... I actually love camping and do it all of the time but when I pay $105 I expect a bit more. Of course the price issue is not only a Glacier Under Canvas problem (Hotwire is also responsible). But the advertisement is incredibly deceptive. And both parties are responsible. Glacier under Canvas is NOT "a 2.5* hotel." At $60-70 per night the tipi might be fine IF you are made aware of the fine print: glamping, no heat, no electricity... At $105 it is not! read more

If there was no stars, I'd choose that. I had a prepaid reservation, however when I showed up I was told it was oversold by a few t p's. No effort was made to find me s room elsewhere. One employee offered to clean and give up his room, but manager did nothing. We were told this happens all of the time. Still had vacancy sign up front. Ended up having to back track 35 miles from glacier at 9:30 at night. Do not think this is a deal, it's a farce. Manager should have called multiple oversold guests since they were aware of "computer glitch." What a disappointment of customer service. read more

We were on a month long road trip and reserved a tipi for the night after reading the reviews and seeing how cool it looked. We arrived and the check in process was a little different which was fine but it was all the things they told us we couldn't do that was a bit annoying. We were looking forward to having a nice little area where we could have our own fire and cook something up for dinner but you have to have a fire and cook in a designated area which was kind of lame. We got into our tipi and one of the cots were a bit battered up, tipis are pretty much right on top of one another and not to mention you can hear all the traffic/trains passing by. You would think since Montana is so big they would pick a more secluded area. Bottom line is you pay $80 for a tipi with some cots, a quiet time of 11pm, showers and traffic. Would of much rather of gone off the beaten path for free! Not our favorite. read more

A must if you're staying in the area! We walked into our deluxe tent and thought we were stepping into a Pottery Barn / Restoration Hardware. Clean tents, bathrooms, and we'll manicured grounds. The hotel/glamping site recently opened, perfect place for this accommodation. Our 5 and 7 year old loved it! You can hear traffic and a few trains, but it was comforting for us to have some background noise. Definitely will come back! read more

We just received a survey to let Under Canvas know about our stay at their Glacier facility. Can I just place it here on Yelp so that others will know to avoid the same mistake we made? First, please forget the advertising that projects that you'll have an "Out Of Africa" experience. It's not. If you're a light sleeper forget about getting any. If the road noise from the main artery in and out of the West end if Glacier wasn't enough you also have to contend with the train traffic noise from the Empire Builder line that runs about 1500 feet from the Under Canvas camp site. With trains running every two to three hours and having to sound their horn at the crossing on Glacys Glen Road we were not able to get any rest after hiking. In fact, to let you know how bad it got, we left with one night to go and paid for a hotel just to be able to get some sleep. Whoever choose this location should be fired. read more

Your review helps others learn about great local businesses. Overall a good experience, but I'll start with the negative, because I wouldn't have booked if I'd have known what I was getting into. I'm accustomed to camping in tents so this looked like a pretty nice alternative to a hotel- lazy man camping. However, we were assigned a tent that did not have a parking space nearby and had to walk about 250 yards to get to our car- Because we couldn't have food in the tents (bear country), this forced us to eat out for most meals- so we spent a small fortune eating out. The Glacier Grill was a nice little hangout a few miles down the road in Coram. The highway and the train were loud, but the parking situation was my big negative. Positives- the staff was very attentive, the beds were very comfortable, the bathrooms were kept very clean and the community fire was a great place to meet friendly people from all over the world and the US. After two nights, we were assigned a nearby parking space that wasn't associated with any one tent. Would I go again? Yes- if I was assured that I didn't have to walk a 500 yard round trip to get to my car for a snack or to anything else I needed locked up. But not every tent has a nearby parking space, so a cabin or hotel might be a better alternative. read more

Loved the glamping experience! Bed was warm and comfortable. Wood burning stove was available, but we didn't use it. The bathroom facilities were clean and well kept. The staff were really helpful and great to work with. Jerónimo was helpful in killing what looked like a large brown recluse inside the tent. One thing to note is you will hear freight trains going by all night long. Between 3:00 a.m.-3:30 a.m. there were about 8 trains that passed by on the backside of the property. The camp is situated within the mountains so the whistles echo off of the mountain tops as well. It is located in a beautiful part of the country. read more
