Do you have a board and train?

In general, i don’t. But may consider board and train depending on the issues as the dog would be in my home. In particular, I’m not equipped to manage dog directed aggression due to the safety of my own dogs.… Read more

I left my 6 month old lab with Eden at Sierra dogs for the 4 week board and train. I couldn't have…read morebeen happier with the training and the love that she provided for Blue. He now has a very solid foundation onto which I can continue to build at home. I was initially considering another training place before I found Sierra dogs. Come to find out, not all trainers are created equal, as they were going to use a shock collar on my puppy. I couldn't even believe it! Eden and her employee Jess use a positive training approach....encouraging good behavior with rewards and praise and discouraging the unwanted behaviors by re-focusing the dog back into a desirable behavior. Because Blue lived with her at her clean, puppy-safe home, she not only taught him the basics but also more advanced training like recall and "leave it". She incorporated day-to-day living into his training, teaching him the skills needed to be a generally well behaved 7 month old puppy that actually respects the other small dogs in our household! Her large fenced property allowed for plenty of appropriate play time and socializing with the other Sierra dogs in her care including her own beautiful huskies...Luna, Vesta and Francis. When it was time for Blue to come home, Eden spent a lot of time going over everything and showing us how to continue on with his training at home. I highly recommend Sierra Dogs and will be taking Blue back for boarding the next time we go out of town.

We can't help but smile and chuckle while viewing online photos of our pup running at top speed with her dog buddies or taking a break on the deck. Although we miss being apart from our wonderful companion, we are comforted knowing that our dog is supervised while happily frolicking around with dog friends and provided with professional, skilled, and nurturing care. When reunited with our dog, she retains all skills we have instilled and is clean and well-behaved. We are very thankful for Eden and her caring team!

My wife and I were searching for a dog trainer form our 4 year old Frenchie rescue named Benny…read more Benny is awesome on walks but does not like people he doesn't know when we have them over to the house. What we loved about Wag Time and Don (owner and trainer) is that he does not use treats or shock. He employs voice and leash control. In reality Don trains YOU how to train! Honestly I was a skeptic! BUT we saw IMMEDIATE improvement during the very first lesson!! We have had 6 lessons so far, and Benny has come a long way! Life changing for us! Meet Don once and you will feel the same we do about him, his techniques, and his love for what he does!

Don is fantastic! Within the first 30 minutes of our 1st session he got my 1.5 year old Labrador…read moreRetriever (full of energy) to lay down and fall asleep and not move. That was a year ago. By the time we were done with our 3rd lesson we ran into Don and another customer in a public place and he used my dog to show as an example. More importantly, he got the other dog, who was extremely reactive to other dogs, to walk along with my dog within 10 minutes. The other owner was in disbelief and asked for permission to take a video of our dogs calmly walking together at The Fountains with tons of distractions. It's been a year and we just finished our 6th lesson only to correct some of the behavior that my dog does in the car, such as getting supper excited when driving to familiar places. I have had so many people compliment how calm and behaved my 2.5 year old Lab is (often act as a much more mature dog).

He is very patient and communicative. He has really made Venus come out of her shell. And I am so excited to see her more confident. He had become aggressive toward one of our other dogs, which was creating a great deal of stress and tension in our household. In addition, he was not consistently responding to basic commands, making the situation even more challenging to manage safely. Bill took the time to understand exactly what was happening and provided us with clear, practical guidance on how to address our dog's behavior. Through his training, our dog became much more responsive to commands, calmer in the home, and easier to manage around our other dogs. We saw a noticeable improvement not only in his obedience, but also in his overall behavior and temperament. After the two week board-and-train program was complete, we also continued with weekly sessions for additional training and support. Those follow-up sessions were incredibly valuable in reinforcing what our dog had learned, answering our questions, and helping us stay consistent at home. That ongoing guidance made a meaningful difference in maintaining his progress and continuing to build better behavior over time. What stood out to us just as much was how passionate and knowledgeable Bill is about training. It is clear that he genuinely cares about helping both dogs and their owners succeed, and he brings a great deal of experience and understanding to the process. He was patient, confident, and always willing to explain the reasoning behind the training, which made us feel comfortable, informed, and supported throughout the entire experience.

We rescued a wild and rambunctious husky/shepherd mix named Amber that was about a year old,…read moreaccording to the pet shelter. Although both of us have had dogs before, we didn't think things through, and the new dog quickly turned our life upside down. The biggest problem was that she was chasing our cats everywhere around the house and had terrible manners. We were worried that we would have to return her to the shelter if she couldn't cohabitate with our 4 cats. I scoured reviews on Google and Yelp and came across Primal Needs Behavioral Solutions. I reached out and Blair was willing to hop on a call right away. He patiently listened and answered several questions, then explained he offers two programs; a month board and train or virtual training with Zoom session checkpoints. Although it was an investment, we opted for the board and train for Amber. At the same time, we did the virtual training for our other dog Ginger, a golden retriever. While Blair worked one on one with Amber at his house, we went through the online modules in the virtual program. The program is very detailed, including videos and narratives for each section. Blair was readily available for any questions or concerns we had along the way. The program does use an e-collar and we were initially apprehensive, but once we understood this was simply a tool to get our dog's attention and tried it on ourselves, it was not an issue. Like most programs, you get out what you put in. We did the work, learned a ton from Blair, and made a friend for life, but most importantly, Amber came back behaving like a different dog and the training worked! She is still a sweetheart, but now listens and behaves well. Blair has taught us how to communicate, correct, and redirect our dogs when needed. The transfer training sets Blair and Primal Needs Behavioral Solutions apart from the rest. We couldn't have done it without Blair and highly recommend his training. Jenn & Astin

I was referred to Blair's Primal Needs Behavioral Solutions Virtual Guide Program and purchased it…read morefor $1,249. I appreciated the clear upfront pricing on the website, and Blair himself reached out to me the same day. You'll need a few extra tools (kennel, e-collar, retractable leash, etc.), and Blair provided a full list with direct Amazon links to the best pricing, which made things simple. I shared my goals and my dog's starting point with Blair--my 2-year-old Husky mix (male) loved to jump and pull on the leash. The program is self-paced with pre-recorded videos, required reading, and Zoom sessions with Blair to review progress. The program foundation is a daily schedule. The schedule can be modified to fit your day to day routine like for people who work M-F. I'll admit--I was originally against e-collars. I thought they were cruel. Blair took the time to educate me, and I even tried the collar on myself first. It's not torture--it's a communication tool, and when used correctly it makes all the difference. Blair is incredibly responsive. I would apply what I learned, record myself working with my dog, and send him the video. His feedback and corrections were always constructive and on point. The biggest takeaway: learning how to correct your dog correctly. Once you understand that, you can teach your dog just about anything. Results? My dog no longer jumps or pulls on the leash, and as a bonus, he'll stay in place while I eat meals! If you're dealing with behavioral issues, it's often just a breakdown in communication--and Blair teaches you exactly how to fix that. Plus, his videos are entertaining and humorous. I highly recommend this program. If you take it seriously and commit, it truly works.
