Nice arena at UNF. Dated, but nice. I've been here for a couple of graduations as well as numerous…read morebasketball games and a few volleyball games. They have a decent selection at the concession stand such as popcorn, nachos, etc. The usual. Prices are really good on the concessions too. The only real complaint I have is the wheelchair seating area during the sports games is in an awkward place. It's upstairs in one corner of the arena. That's all. There's only room for a few wheelchairs to be there at one time and with each wheelchair, a companion chair gets taken away. Now I've always been there with just my husband and he sits next to me in a chair, but I still get a literal crick in my neck because of the way I have to sit and watch the games. It must really suck for college students who can't sit with their friends. UNF needs to seriously do something about the wheelchair situation. So other than that gripe, there's plenty of stadium seating for everyone with pretty comfortable seats with arms. Again, nice little arena.

The grass in and around the field is kept in good shape, but during games I've noticed there have been issues with the outfield grass; players for either team have been running and suddenly stumble in certain spots. Parking can be an issue depending upon the time of the game. The parking lot near the UNF Arena is designated for students with a parking pass, although if you purchase a daily parking pass, look on the pass to see lots you're allowed to park. The parking lot on the other side of Hodges Stadium and Harmon Stadium does have a signifigant number of parking spaces, although a number of these are used by students who use the Arena and gym facilities on a regular basis. The parking garage across from the arena is another area to park; however, only on certain levels (see daily pass), and spaces are limited. The staff at the stadium is made up of interns and paid employees, so the friendliness of staff tends to vary. I have yet to eat or drink anything at the games from the concessions. There are vending machines located inside of the UNF Arena at the opposite end. So I suggest stopping here or maybe at the Student Union Center across from the Arena. There are several places to pick up a cold beverage or something to eat depending upon the time of day you're there.

This review is primarily focused on the really primo ballroom which is a very spacious floor space with very high ceilings that can be used /rented for any event. Very cool that as long as there is no UNF event scheduled in the ballroom, UNF makes the ballroom available to the public for rental. Rental prices are reasonable and comparable to what the local hotels charged but IMO the UNF ballroom is a notch above with a dedicated parking garage adjacent to the student union building, very clean and new carpets & furnishings. We attended a graduation party in the ballroom last year and really enjoyed the food (catered by UNF), the bright atmosphere, the entire A/V set up which includes great audio sound and 4 big video screens. The entire ballroom has 4 rooms that can be subdivided with 3 wall dividers. The ballroom space for just 3 rooms can hold over 120 people and 4 rooms over 150. This is a great option to consider for your future big events in JAX.

The Baseball Grounds was not a perfect location for soccer, but the seating was comfortable, it was in the Stadium District, and with Intuition Aleworks & Manifest Distilling all within a block - going to a game was looking to be a great night out! Their new location is Hodges Stadium at UNF. An ok place to watch collegiate soccer - very nice even pitch. But being a little on the older side, I need a seatback if I'm going to be sitting in the stands for a couple hours! The seats are also not numbered. So even though I bought tickets with seat numbers, the seats were no where to be found and many in the crowd just sat where they wanted to. The dining options at the Town Center did lessen the pain somewhat. For some reason, whoever is running the team at this point, decided that the game needed cheerleaders (trust me - it may need something, but not cheerleaders). I'm not sure how much time was spent selecting the group, but they probably spent about the same time training them - quality was less than desirable. The team - I only recognized 2 names from the previous season. The team performed modestly at best. I'm sure the location will work out well for the many soccer families that live in proximity to UNF

I had the opportunity to see The Nutcracker Ballet here and will now keep a look out for future performances! The seats are spacious, the theater feels more intimate than others in the area. They do have a small concession stand, however food and most beverages must be consumed outside the actual theater. Only bottled water is allowed inside the theater. The Florida Ballet performed the Nutcracker with guest ballerinas from the Boston Ballet- the show was lovely, spectacular and elegant scenes with so many dancers. Even the youngest of the show were amazing and very cute. Compared to other venues in the Jacksonville area- this was one of the better theaters I have gone to a show at. I look forward to returning for more!

The space is perfect to take in a show, as you have a great seat whether you're sitting right up front or in the balcony. The staff is wonderful, they were kind, and showed us to our seats. Parking is also a plus at this theater, as you don't have to pay for parking and the parking garage is pretty close to the theater, which is great. All in all, I'd return to Lazzara to see another show. Pros: -Clean facility -Great seats wherever you sit -Nice bathrooms -Intimate -Helpful staff Cons: -None that I can recall Tips: Arrive early to get a good parking spot.

This was a goldmine find for MANY reasons! First off, UNF has A LOT of asphalt trails around the campus. Second, free parking for early risers. Third, they have an easy access Practice track. So here's the scoop! I arrived on a Wednesday AM after doing some online research on local tracks. I got there at 5:30AM so it was dark. I parked in the adjacent parking lot (Lot 18, looks like a baseball field) and then reviewed my maps to ensure I was walking in the right place. The track has 3 lanes with every 100 meters marked off. The inner field is artificial turf. There were student athletes practicing when I arrived so I was mindful of them and weary to stay out of their way. Take note of this, as track etiquette is to avoid lane one if you're not going at a decent clip. Port a potties off to the side and bleachers here, plus a covered tent. Bring your drink! I loved the workout here and scenery. It got busy at 7AM when I was wrapping up. Hidden gem here! I'll be back if I'm ever in the area again, especially to get longer runs in on the adjacent asphalt trails.
