    Bingo time!

Attached to the bowling center was Beach Bingo which happens We'd-Fri from 430-10 with bingo games starting at 6:30. It was great fun! It wasn't the bingo I was expecting so it made it that more exciting to learn something new. They followed COVID-19 restrictions so you had to make a reservation to play. Tables were well distanced and hand sanitizer stations at the front. There were different variations of bingo played that I'd never heard of and the other regular players were very helpful. You have to buy a package to play but can buy extra cards if you want. The package is $24 and contains most of the games that would be played throughout the night. There were probably 25-30 games but maybe 3-5 that you had to buy. They played X out, 3 layer cake, blackout, regular bingo and special L from what I can re. It goes by fast since some the package contained 3 cards for a particular game. I don't remember the name of it but there bingo game that was something like reverse bingo where if they call a number you would cover that number and it's reversed. Ex:B14 then you cover B14 and N41. They have computer bingo you can purchase so it does the work for you and tells you when to say bingo but starts at $50. Had a really great time taking my mom there. I would definitely go again and can't wait to take my daughter when they have summer family fun bingo. Unfortunately it's for adults only until the summer. Two

We were previously stationed at Kings Bay, and really enjoyed bowling at their bowling alley on base. It was new, clean, and inexpensive. For a family night, we decided to check out Mayport's bowling alley. Like everything else on this base, my first impression of it was "it looks OLD!" I didn't care too much about that though, because bowling is bowling! The lanes and ball return were very clean and newer looking, but the carpet and bathrooms need to be renovated. They have a small arcade area, and a restaurant inside that is surprisingly very delicious. The price of bowling is fair too. We paid $20 for 2 games and 2 shoe rentals. We had a blast!

We asked for red sangria, and the bar tender told us to try the bar upstairs because she would have to make it and "it would be a little bit" before she could make the drinks. We tried upstairs and they didn't have it either. We came back down and told her they didn't have it either, she told us she would make it for us. She made her version of sangria. Which wasn't too bad. But we seemed to be an inconvenience overall. I don't really have a desire to return to this bar.

Duck Pinz is a blast! My family and I (three folks total for this visit) had a wonderful time here…read moreon a Friday afternoon. It's a cute location in a cute area; it had such a fun, authentic vibe outside and in. We came in and wanted to get straight to bowling, and the staff member who set us up was helpful and friendly. The alley area is pretty small, as it's only four lanes. But while I'm sure that could be a disappointment on a crowded night, we found the small size to be conducive to chatting with each other as we played. It's definitely different from standard bowling: you don't wear bowling shoes, the pins are attached to strings that pull them up (as opposed to freestanding pins at a standard alley), and you use smaller, hole-free balls. You also get three throws per frame as opposed to two. I'm not good at bowling, and I'm -- so far -- not good at the duck pin variant. But I didn't find it frustrating, just fun to learn and play! I managed no strikes and a whopping one spare, although I did find the advice posted on the walls helped me get a bit better. I think there is a type of person (someone who takes bowling seriously, or maybe too seriously) who wouldn't enjoy this, but it's really entertaining if you can go in with a good mindset. And not having to find shoes or bowling balls that fit is a huge plus. As far as timing, it took us about an hour and 15 minutes to play two full games; we didn't rush, but we didn't daddle, either. They charge by the hour or half hour, and we paid for our first hour then added a half hour to finish out a second game. A couple who came in about halfway through our visit managed to just squeeze in 10 frames in 30 minutes. We didn't explore the (intriguing) upstairs area, but I did get a fabulous drink -- the Saturn -- at the bar. While I felt like the bowling was a little pricey (not unreasonably priced, to be clear, just something I couldn't afford quite as often), I was surprised at the great value of the drink. Plus, it was delicious -- super well-balanced -- and the bartender was lovely. Even outside of the bowling fun, I could see this being a regular hangout for me if I lived in the area. But even though it's more than an hour from home for me, I'll absolutely take family and friends up to visit when I can. It's an awesome place to have in the region.
