I did not have high expectations for Chicago's boba scene but Uni Uni was my first taste through delivery. The tea was pretty solid and left a good impression. Cute theme with the unicorn. Yulu Oolong Milk Tea w/ Boba - I love roasted milk teas because the process creates a deeper, richer flavor. There were strong undertones of caramel-like toasted coffee and the roasted milk tea was nearly perfect. While the boba was overcooked to a softer chew, it was still pleasing to chew. However, it totally lacked flavor and could use a better marination process. Uni Signature Milk Tea w/ White Peach Oolong Jelly - after having the yulu oolong, this one wasn't as flavorful. However, I believe it's a black tea base but very typical to other classic milk teas. Nothing special. The white peach jelly is fairly unique, but mild in taste with a tiny, sweet aftertaste. I'd recommend other drinks since they have a great selection!
I tried the Lychee Peach Fruit Tea and it was so good! Definitely on the sweeter side so keep that in mind. Service was fast but there was no where to sit down on the inside except for on the window ledge. The self service kiosks also weren't available but that did not bother me!
I love Uni Uni - their drinks are truly refreshing. My favourite is their lychee peach jasmine green tea with lychee and mango jelly. Their branding is too cute, and I love the convenience of self ordering. You can also pick how much sugar you want in your drink, which is perfect. The orders are prepared in no time. I only wish for more Uni Unis to come up around the city.
It's a cool little place in the Chinatown that has interesting boba cups. I got the Uni Signature Milk Tea and it was good. The brown sugar tapioca was not so good though, I think they were a little overcooked since it wasn't as chewy as it should've been and was a little bit mushy. Only reason why it isn't a 3 stars is because the staff on the phone the next day since I forgot to put my email for a receipt was very friendly and was able to send me my receipt.
Was visiting Chicago and wanted to grab some boba. The drinks were a bit overpriced but the boba and quality of drinks were good. Although I got 50% sweet I would say their drinks are on the sweet side. I really liked their strawberry orange green tea with crystal boba since it had a hint of tartness from the strawberry. The mango watermelon green tea was a bit sweet for my liking and I usually don't get brown boba with fresh milk but I tried it and it's definitely a well made classic. Overall, I loved how the drinks had real fruit in them and didn't taste artificially fruity. If you're visiting Chicago's Chinatown def stop by!
Sweet staff and extensive menu~ Happy I was able to try Uni-Uni since I had seen several of their shops throughout Chicago (guessing they're a local chain) It was really convenient too since Uni-Uni was right across from where I had dinner (MingHin) haha I ordered their Assam Milk Tea and they exceeded my expectations! Richer taste than a standard neighborhood shop but not quite like T% in Sacramento, but similar. Boba was on the chewier size (I visited right before closing) I like that they also offer 16oz... heheh for portion control Would love to come back and try their other drinks and snacks too!
What a convenient and yummy place to order boba and small bites. I wish there was a place to sit indoors and enjoy the drink but space I limited. I ordered the Uni milk Tea and it was great, not super sweet but I added Oreo cheese whipping cream and it was a game changer. The drink came out super fast and the staff was friendly. I noticed they had some onigiri, I would love to try them!
This is a cute little tea place, they had a lot on their menu so we decided to go and check them out. I ended up getting the strawberry orange jasmine green tea without the crystal boba. It tasted decent, and you could definitely taste the orange coming through. My fiance got the strawberry lemon jasmine green tea. His didn't really taste like much. The teas didn't seem to be mixed properly and the flavor was lacking on the strawberry lemon. That one tasted more like a severely watered down tea. I'd go again to try something different, but I don't think I'd try another fruit tea. You can order your drinks on a kiosk, so for us service was just simply picking the drinks up.
After having great experiences at two prior Uni Uni locations, I wanted to grab one last drink before heading out of Chicago. We were looking at the different locations and found this one that stocks a very cute bucket size drink. We couldn't resist and made a trip down to Chinatown. Milk Tea Bucket (1000cc), Yulu Oolong Tea, 50% Sugar, Regular Ice ($10.95) - This drink comes with your choice of three toppings, of which we went with 3x the boba! Just kidding, we only did 2x and also had the Jasmine Green Tea Jelly. Starting with the good - the drink itself is fantastic. Half sweet is perfect and allows the fragrance and aroma of the tea to intermingle with the cream without drowning anything out. The brown sugar tastes comes through on the tongue easily and doesn't cover up the roasted/toasty taste of the Oolong. Consistent with other locations, the regular ice level is just enough to cool the drink down to slightly above freezing temperatures before completely melting, all within a couple of minutes of receiving the drink. The Jasmine Jelly is nice, with a typical agar chew that adds additional texture to the drink. It floats to the top, making it an exercise to try to get pieces to suck up with the straw. Now onto the bad - the boba here is not good. The pearls are very inconsistent, with some that are nice and chewy, albeit a bit on the softer side, and others so overcooked/old that the teeth glides through them like butter. I feel like they definitely mixed different batches of boba together, which is a big faux pas in bubble tea. One other thing to mention - while the bucket itself is cute, with a snap on lid and a little handle to carry it around, there are several major issues. Firstly, it doesn't fit in a cupholder, so be prepared to hold the drink the entire time you are driving. Secondly, the lid leaks around the sides, especially around the pull tab on one side. Multiple times while driving, I had milk tea spilling all over my clothes and the car. Finally, the hole for the straw is right in the center of the lid and the bucket handle doesn't have enough clearance to go over the straw. If you have a straw inserted, you can't really tote the bucket around as a result. They really need to revisit the bucket and make some major design improvements. Milk Tea Rating: (5/5) Boba Rating: (1/5) The milk tea at this Uni Uni location is solid, but the boba is terrible. I recommend getting drinks here only with other toppings. Or just visit one of the other Uni Uni locations that has their act together. Note: There is a service fee for using the kiosk. Bathrooms - None
Good drinks, but service and ambiance fell short for me. As of April 2023, they're still pretty covid cautious. So they dont have any tables or chairs inside, and you will have to use the kiosks to order. When we had a few questions about the drinks, the workers weren't very welcoming or easy to talk to. Also, some of them did not speak English, so there were a few communication barriers. I feel like this is the standard of service for many places in the area, though... We got the lychee latte and the peach lychee jasmine green tea with the sweeteness adjusted down in both. I really liked the peach lychee jasmine green tea. It was very refreshing. Overall, I would come again if i was looking to get drinks to go.
The drinks here are very unique, very pretty. I loved the boba texture and the drinks were still really yummy. I didn't interact with the staff, since we used the kiosk to order our drinks. The inside has its own aesthetic, so it makes for great picture ops for the drinks.
Uni Uni is a great spot in Chinatown (and all across Chicago) to grab bubble tea and various sweet treats - now including authentic Filipino cookies called Sylvanas! I tried the ube flavor which I liked, but it was super soft (almost too soft for my taste) The real star of the show here is the fruit teas in my opinion - the Lychee Peach Jasmine Green Tea with lychee and mango jellies - I am obsessed with those star jellies The interior was a little small and not very clean, but the drinks made it worth it. Uni Uni bubble tea in Chinatown is a good place for milk tea enthusiasts. Conveniently, they offer delivery through Uber Eats, making it easy to enjoy their drinks from the comfort of your own home. My go-to is the Ancient brown sugar milk tea in a large size, with just 30% sweetness and light ice. They have a wide variety of toppings. My recent favorite is brown sugar tapioca lately. Absolutely recommend giving this place a try.

Really liked the fruit teas here! We ordered the strawberry orange jasmine green tea and the uni fruit combo fruit tea. I got the uni fruit tea with half sugar, and it was the perfect amount of sugar and was great after a heavy meal. The strawberry orange jasmine green tea with no adjustments was really good too- one of the best fruit teas I've tried in chicago, nolie. Both drinks weren't artificial tasting at all and really liked how there were actual fruit in there. Both were very refreshing and exactly what you expect out of fruit teas. This place may be my new fav boba spot in Chinatown - highly recommend trying this place out ! read more
Located at the very end of new chinatown, this place is a little hard to spot since there are so many boba shops! I came here and got the mother's day special twice already because I liked it so much (rose lemon yakult with bubbles) but the second time they put waaay too much ice even when I asked for light ice! Overall a cute shop and the workers are fast. Definitely go for less sugar (30 or 50%) since their drinks are sweet! read more

I bought the Pu'er Tea Latte with Crystal Boba and Caramel Cheese Foam and it was absolutely amazing. Definitely recommend. Although I didn't try any other drinks I'm sure that they'll be just as good. read more

I had Pu'er Milk Tea with Milk Mochi and it was pretty good. I asked for cheese cream but there is only a few on top. There is no tables for one who wanna stay in. But generally the drink comes out fast and the store is spacious. read more

my friend and i came here on a packed Saturday night and the service wasn't super fast (which made sense because only 2 people were making drinks). The atmosphere is wonderful and the cup designs are super cute, but the boba was too soft and didn't really live up to my expectations. I loved the options of customizing your drink with sugar levels as I always go for 50%, but even though I asked for less ice, my drink was 100% ice which was kind of annoying. I might come back to try out another drink and also another day if it's not so busy. read more
This review is from a few weeks ago and based on a few visits. Uni Uni is a very cute Boba cafe in Chinatown. We usually order in person, but they do have an online ordering app. Each time I have been here, the workers are friendly and efficient. Even when there are many customers, my order has been completed quickly and to perfection. This last time I decided to try something different. I ordered the Chocolate Latte with taro and boba. I s substituted the crystal boba with brown sugar boba . I would rate this drink4 stars, but rated it a 5 based on all my other experiences. First , the boba is so good. It is not chewy and always fresh. The chocolate latte was so very thick. It was the consistency of a shake , and I was hoping for a thinner less concentrated drink. However, the chocolate was milk chocolate and smooth. The overall experience was very good, I most likely will stick with my usual drinks next time. read more

This store is conveniently located in Chinatown off the market square. When we came in there was no line and the tea came very quickly. I got the Soy Milk Foam Black Tea Latte with Soy Milk Pudding and my daughter got the Pu'er Tea Latte with Crystal Boba & Caramel Cheese Foam. I really enjoyed the tea, but the pudding cubes were too much for me - there were A LOT. The drinks were between $5 and $6 or so for the regular size and I feel like they are super generous with the boba and jelly. My daughter really enjoyed her tea, and it was her first time trying the cheese foam. This is a Chicago-founded business with at least five other locations, so it's good to support a local business in a way. read more
This was better than I expected! I got the jasmine milk tea with brown sugar tapioca, which was a bit of a weird combination, but I really liked the strong tea flavor in the base. I tried a bit of the ancient brown sugar drink and it was also pretty good. Would recommend :) read more

Don't use their self service kiosk. We wait for our order for more than 30minutes We did follow up the order but they did not still make our order and waited for another 10-15minutes. We just ask for a refund but they said they cannot do it. They said using the kiosk is fast and easy read more

I found a new Bubble Tea place favorite in Chinatown! We went during a very busy Fourth of July and while other bubble tea places had long lines, Uni Uni had a very tolerable line and the menu was intriguing. I guess the new emerging trend besides boba is the cheese foam and I am all for it! The Peach Jasmine Green Tea with cheese foam really caught my eye mostly because Jasmine tea is one of my favorite teas to drink and the peach was marked highly recommended on the menu. Upon the first sip, I knew I made the right choice. The drink was so refreshing on a hot summer day and I tasted the pureness of the Jasmine Tea. To really taste the effectiveness of the cheese foam, you should thoroughly shake the drink for equal distribution. I didn't do this until almost half way through the drink but mostly because I love the blended taste of the peach and jasmine tea. I am definitely coming back whenever I'm in Chinatown! The interior is also very cool with the wall/mural and the lighting. They also serves some snack if you are looking for something to munch on and pair with your drink. With the overwhelming choices of Bubble Tea rising all over the Chicago area, Uni Uni is worth the try! read more

I live nearby so I come here at least once or twice a week. They messed up on my drink and refused to remake it. The manager Amy insisted that's how this drink always is but I just ordered it last week and it was made correctly then. Won't be coming back here again unfortunately because the drinks are actually great when made correctly. read more

If coming to Chinatown in Chicago, you gotta try out Uni Uni. I got the ancient brown sugar milk tea, strawberry orange jasmine green tea with crystal boba, and assam milk tea with boba. They were all so good and refreshing, the tea flavor came out nicely and the strawberry orange was very fresh and fruity (not artificial at all). And the service was fast, perfect for a busy day just to come by and grab a drink. read more

Since Uni Uni has such great reviews, I was really excited to try a new bubble tea place in Chinatown. Unfortunately my experience didn't meet my expectations. My sister and I ordered the strawberry smoothie with cloud cream and we requested if they could use a non dairy product instead of regular milk. The lady said they can only use regular milk even though there was a bottle of Silk (non dairy alternative) behind the counter. When we got our bubble tea, it didn't have any cloud cream and when we asked the lady about it she said they were out of the cloud cream and its only used for show...if we had known that, we would have ordered something else. The smoothie was good but the service is definitely going to refrain me from coming back. read more
This is a cute little boba shop in Chinatown! There is no indoor seating, so be prepared to drink outdoors. Our drinks were okay, nothing special. I really enjoyed the milk tea from here! I tried the Assam milk tea and my sister got the signature uni milk tea. Both tasted very similar so it was hard to tell a difference in flavor profiles but both tasted really good. I especially liked the brown sugar boba. It was sweet and added a nice flavor to the boba that is usually plain tasting. I will definitely be trying more flavors from here! read more

There's a new boba shop in town, and I'm in love! The drinks are good (very great tea flavor), and priced fairly for the area and what you get. I got the signature milk tea and my friend got the assam milk tea, and both were great! The decor is SO cute (unicorns and photo ops galore!). Uni Uni is also very conveniently located-- it's next to the Lao Sze Chuan and MingHin in new Chinatown so perfect for dessert. Definitely worth checking out. I thought the boba scene in Chinatown was getting pretty saturated, but Uni Uni is a strong contender and one of my favorites. read more

The drink was so good. I got a Signature Milk tea and it's becoming one of my favorites. They also gave me a cute boba carrier with a side slit for the straw!! :) SO CUTR The delivery was super quick and I really like the interior decor.
