I love Dean Bank. Small town Bank that my husband and I used for years before he passed. The people…read morethere have always been very friendly and helpful. Never made me feel rushed, which is why I changed to Dean Bank several years ago. I wouldn't want to go anywhere else.

The love/hate relationship starts here…read more I will start with the love part, seeing the world needs love, sweet, love... I know I could not even write that with a straight face. OK. I am not kidding. The commercial that just came on as soon as I wrote that sentence was the Hershey's kiss commercial with that song. Freaky...... So I apologize for that crack, love IS what the world needs!! Back to the review. I love this branch because they remember me and do not make me jump thru hoops for the simplest tasks (my constant wrapped coin returns). The tellers actually try to engage you in a decent conversation while your transaction is being completed. Plus they give my pooch a cookie when I use the drive-thru. The flip side, the hate part of the relationship. I can never get someone on the phone to discuss my questions. It seems right on the mark seeing the automated society we live in. But please the branch serves such a small segment. Half the people in this state have no clue where the hell Bellingham is. So I figure that answering the phone is no problem for all the ladies they have working there. All in all I like my little branch and the dog likes the cookies!

We used Dean bank for a residential mortgage. First we spoke with the broker Tina who was very…read morepolite and answered all the questions she could. I asked some follow up questions via email, in which she requested with other information. She failed to tell us that she would be leaving that evening for a 4-day weekend and left no colleague to contact in her place. We should have known by this first poor experience that it would not be a good match and selected another bank. But we proceed. We had an accepted offer on a house. Dean Bank's security and transfer of information is incredibly antiquated and leaves you open to breach of information. If you value your privacy, you'd have to do everything in person on paper. Slow and antiquated is how I would describe each and every exchange. I had to be on their backs, almost daily, asking if certain things were done and if they needed any additional information. They made us miss our mortgage commitment and almost lost the entire deal because they didn't know they hadn't received the appraisal. The same appraisal I had asked about approximately 7 times prior to mortgage commitment. Day of closing was fine. Mortgage statements looks like they are fresh off the typewriter, with very little information other than you owe XXXX. Using their website and online banking feels like a throwback to 1998. There are many things that you cannot do, you must go in or call. You have to call the office to reset your password. You can also send them a message, but it takes them D A Y S to respond to anything. I look forward to the day we can refinance and leave Dean Bank in the dust, where it likes to be. Everyone I have spoken too has been very nice. BUT they are not equipped to handle business in today's world. If you have a rotary phone, still pay all your bills by mail, and like going into the bank for every single task then DEAN is definitely your bank.
