Let me start by saying it's the best overall all-inclusive resort I've ever stayed at.
Pros:
Drinks - high quality and delicious. I loved how each bar/restaurant had its own specialty drink menu. We tried a lot of them. Favorites were any of the margaritas (sunset was my fave).
Food- the food overall was top notch. We especially liked the pool food:(strangely enough) fish tacos, fish fingers and fries and a delicious fruit ceviche. Our favorite restaurant was the Japanese hibachi. Second was Italian. We didn't care for much of anything at the Mexican restaurant except the birria casserole. Desserts were great everywhere; especially the rolled ice-cream.
Beach- the beach was nice. Sandy, kept clean from seaweed. We did have to go down a ways to not deal with rocks. When there was service, it was attentive: towel attendant, drinks and food.
Room- spacious with some well thought out details. There was always plenty of bottled water and the mini fridge was stocked.
Cons:
Room service: if you didn't pre-order, it took forever. When you did pre-order, it was still late. They always forgot more than 1 thing from your order and the food was never hot. No salt and pepper for your eggs. No spoon for the cream for your coffee. None of the food tasted great.
Entertainment: there's very little and not enough for everyone. There's also only two places to hang out and one is awkwardly the lobby bar. We wanted to play beer pong, there was one table so we had to win the table to play. Silent disco was available but it started late and only had two stations with terrible music. We stayed out two nights and went to bed early the other three.
Beach service: at one point, we waited a for a drink and that was after ordering it twice. They didn't have enough chairs for the resort guests either. To get a good seat, you had to be down there early.
Room: the shower pressure was terrible as was the drainage. When you showered you had to stand in several inches of water for the duration.
The smell: this is typical for the area but some times the sewage smell was unbearable for me. When I got my beach massage, I spent the whole time trying to keep my nose in the towel.
Location: it's very far from the airport and leaving the resort to go do anything isn't really an option. We woke at 6am and didn't make it to the resort until after sunset which is just bizarre considering how geographically close it is to home.
Cost: the price per night is astronomical although Mexico in general has gotten insanely expensive. There's a lot more impressive places we could go for much less. read more
