Everyone is genuinely friendly, welcoming, and consistently goes above and beyond. Walking into this branch truly feels like the First Republic experience all over again. I never thought I could be impressed by a banking system, but they absolutely proved me wrong. My HELOC process was effortless and smooth from start to finish. Everything was clearly explained, stress-free, and handled with care and professionalism. This is by far my new favorite bank. I honestly can't imagine banking anywhere else. I've been a Wells Fargo customer for just a few months, and I couldn't be happier with the service…read more I opened my account at the Berkeley branch, where the representative was incredibly helpful and informative. She took the time to walk me through both short‑ and long‑term financial goals, and even stayed with me until I had the mobile app fully set up. That level of care really stood out. Yesterday, I had a moment of panic when I accidentally left my debit card in the ATM at the West Portal branch in San Francisco. To my surprise, Wells Fargo immediately sent me a courtesy email letting me know. The app made it simple to protect myself--I didn't have to cancel the card outright. Instead, I could put it on hold, toggle it on and off, and continue using my other cards without worrying about unauthorized charges. When I returned to the branch, the staff had already secured my card safely in a vault. Thanks to their effort, what could have been a disaster was completely avoided. I really needed the physical card that day, especially since temporary cards can't be uploaded to a digital wallet, and Wells Fargo came through. I wish I could remember the teller's name--her name started with a K, maybe Katie or Kitty--but whoever you are, thank you! Wells Fargo, thank you as well for making banking feel safe, easy, and supported.

Eventually, I had to ask to speak with the branch manager just to get some help. The lack of attention and professionalism was really disappointing. Several employees were standing around chatting instead of assisting customers. We've been to other branches and always had good experiences, but the West Portal branch has by far the worst customer service we've encountered. Definitely won't be coming back to this location.

Contra Costa I believe. They seem to have good financials as well from what I was able to gather. Strong enough to not take any government bailouts during the recession in 2007-2008. I think that's what I read. I had to open my new account in person, which makes me feel they validate their customers better. Like requiring a copy of my ID. My account fees were very reasonable. Lower than competitors in my case. Inside the bank felt like a bank. Not like a hospital lobby or office cubicle. Warm lighting and decor colors. I'm excited and I look forward to building a strong relationship with them. This location also has a public space on one of the higher floors in the building and I took some pictures.
