Service is very slow. Why? Because their barista and staff chit chat. And when they chit chat they're not making coffee. Coffee is good but you'll wait awhile so don't go if you're in a hurry. I also paid $15.50 for a large latte and a scone. For me that's a little high. But what do I know. ‍ Ambience is good and the location is good, right on the famous third street. This was a really cozy, cute spot to grab some coffee while walking through McMinnville! The service was a little bit slow given how busy they were, but the cashier and barista were both nice and there were plenty of options including espresso drinks, teas and cold brew. We got lattes and they were good, the espresso was pretty standard, roasty but not too bitter. All in all, a pretty good spot and fulfilled our desire for coffee. read more

We were visiting from Texas and staying around the corner. I don't drink coffee so I ordered the vanilla chai with cookie butter off their Christmas menu. (Every morning and a couple of afternoons, I ordered this. It tasted like a hug. I couldn't get enough.) The store was always steadily busy, no matter what time we went in, but the ladies were friendly and didn't act at all rushed or stressed. The store had cute merch and a cozy vibe. There was plenty of seating; regular tables, a couple of tables off in a super cozy nook, and also a bar along the front window where you could watch other downtown shoppers. Our lavender lattes were too sweet for my liking. Couldn't taste the coffee. We didn't come back to give them a fair shake on an unsweetened beverage because we found Flag & Wire the next day and didn't look back. The scone and other pastry we got from Union, however, were delicious. So I can at least recommend their baked goods. There was also a fair number of regulars on the morning we visited, which is surely a good sign. read more

Driving thru Oregon and stopped by this darling town of McMinneville! This coffeeshop was a great find! Not only were the drinks and pastries good but the customer service was Top Notch! The 2 young ladies were hustling the whole time we were in there and a breath of fresh air! So sweet and very interactive! The place was filled and they were the only ones working on a Sunday! Coffee was so bad. I was willing to reduce my expectations considering this is a small town, but this was the worst espresso I've had in years. Bitter, burnt tasting and thin. The steamed milk was overheated and scalded. The staff are clearly not well trained to use an espresso machine. They were completely sold out of food at 11:00am on a Sunday. To add insult to injury, they we're playing Christian lite rock music. An overall bad experience and assault on the senses. Will not return and would not recommend. read more

Great local coffee shop! As a mocha drinker, I was presented with 4 different options including milk chocolate and dark chocolate. The friendly woman who took my order explained that milk chocolate was sweeter so that's what I went with and it was really good! By comparison, that mocha was much better tasting and cheaper than a mocha the same size at Starbucks. I was there early-ish on a Saturday when it was still quiet but the place was clean and had local newspapers available to read while relaxing. With lots of room to just hang out, do homework, visit with friends, etc., I imagine the place can get lively later in the day. Union Block does offer some food options but I didn't pay attention to what they were other than the bakery items available right next to the register. Those looked good, though. Bottom line, while I don't get to McMinnville very often, I'll probably make it a point to visit Union Block Coffee when I do! read more

I am an out of town guest in McMinnville. I really needed to use the bathroom and this was the only place open. I went over to request using the bathroom and they said I needed to buy something. I agreed but I asked to use the bathroom first. They denied it. So I went to the line where there were three people in front of me. After waiting I come to the register to purchase my drink and find out that Apple Pay was not working and I only had my phone on me so I could not purchase anything. They still did not let me use the restroom. So I had to turn around and walk a mile home because they still wouldn't let me use the restroom. This place is rude and inhospitable. read more

Great stop in downtown McMinnville. You'll find the most diverse groups of customers at Union Block: old duffers, college kids, high schoolers, kids with their moms, and so on. The interior isn't as homey as Cornerstone, but the coffee is great and the baristas are friendly. Get a coffee to go, meet a friend, or hang out and enjoy free wifi. Try the specials from the sandwich board outside. They're usually pretty fab. read more
