They're amazingly open at 5am which is fabulous since I'm trying hard to work East Coast time on my drive around the country. I really have been trying to give business to this place. But over the past 6 months, consistently disappointed with the service and attitudes. No smiles, no service. One girl was rushing to fill orders while another was lost and unhelpful. Had to repeat my drinks multiple times to the poor lost one as she seemed lost with disinterest. If she mentioned, hey, it's my first week here with a smile, it would have been much different. I had a daughter that was a regional manager for this company and I know this is not consistent with the company expectations for customer service or engagement with clients. BlackRock is a Premium Coffee Bar and as long as the service is customer service oriented and caters to the clientele this company and location will win. Love this place! They had them in Medford years before I moved to Mac and it was my go to coffee! Because it actually tastes amazing! And I get all different kinds of coffee, from black as my heart(which is pretty damn pitch) to a caramel mocha-frocha-chocolat-ee froofroo coffee! Black Rock makes it smooth, fresh and tasty, just ask my half awake 8am self! It's refreshing and helps me get through the day. The staff is super friendly and upbeat without trying to date you or be your bestest-of-all-besties! like the "bros" coffee people. And their syrups are higher quality too! I love this Black Rock! One of my go-to study locations. The managers are super nice, as well as the rest of the staff. It's always clean and cozy, with lots of space for studying or hanging out. The drinks are good, and they've got lots of options for alternative milks and non-coffee drinks. They've also got gluten free + vegan baked goods, which gives them a serious leg up over all the other coffee shops in Mac. And if that weren't enough, they've got a great loyalty program that keeps me in more free drinks than I could ask for! read more

I love this place! It's very clean and quiet. Nice decorations and colors. It feels inviting and peaceful. The baristas are very nice and helpful, and they have really good, local pastries. Warm, inviting, good ambiance. Staff are always friendly, and there's alternative milks available for their drinks. Decent snack options here for the allergy crowd (marshmallow bar, kombucha, Bob's oatmeal). Went to this location about 4:40 pm today, not busy. No one in parking lot, one car ahead of me. My autistic son was having a behavioral crisis in the back seat by the time we got to the window, ALL the baristas could see what was going on and the girl with the SUPER LONG dark hair making my drink along with the other two were busy chatting away and seemed to TAKE EXTRA TIME even though they could SEE US STRUGGLING, and we're watching my son RIPPING MY HAIR OUT in handfuls while I was begging him to stop. If you're part of the disabled community, maybe grab your coffee elsewhere. These people had the least sympathy or efficiency once they noticed that I've ever experienced as an autism Mom (and we have several places in town we love to go that ARE autism friendly, so when you know, you know). read more

Kinda hesitant to do a review because people will start coming here and clogging up the joint. It's quiet and peaceful here, the people are great, and the coffee is amazing. I usually go to Leanne's or Java. Occasionally, if it's late and I'm forced to go to DB. The first couple times I went I wasn't really impressed. The coffee is great and the customer service has never been short of outstanding. I recently was in the drive thru late and ordered a decaf americano, 16oz. There was a problem with the espresso machine or the decaf coffee or something that was casuing the shots not to pull correctly. After several tries to pull decaf shots, the barista was extremely apologetic and worked hard to find an agreeable drink for me. Heard so much about how great this coffee was. First off I had to repeat my order 4 times to the coffee girl and she looked at me like a deer in headlights.
