(Apologies for any misspelled/incorrect names.) We stayed at the Union Gables Inn on June 23, 2026. We stayed in the Linda Room, which was located on the third floor of the Inn. The room was spotless, beautiful, and clean. It had all antique furniture, which was all functional and worked without any signs of decay. The bed was wonderfully made, and nothing was out of place during our stay. The television and air-conditioning worked as intended. I attempted to take a shower mid-Tuesday afternoon. After turning on the hot water, I waited a good few minutes for the hot water to actually heat up. Not really anyone's fault; it just took a while. We were on the third floor of an older building - this was fine. The next morning, when I attempted to shower again, the hot water arrived quicker, but when trying to turn the heat down, it took a while. So, the heat in the shower is slow to respond. The staff were amazing. Justin, who resides on the grounds of the inn, was an awesome person who had answers and kindness to every situation that arose. My wife recently became disabled (getting her to the third floor was a bit of work); Justin asked if we wanted breakfast to be brought to her, instead of her coming down. We declined that, she would want to dine in the main dining hall. He was great with suggestions, super courteous, and overall awesome. When we had breakfast the morning of the 24th, Chad was the gentleman taking our order. He was a great person who regaled us with stories, gave us a good laugh, and made sure our orders were correct (wife is also allergic to dairy). He absolutely made the experience better, even if we were at the very tail end of our stay there. The breakfast was excellent; we both ended up eating a sausage breakfast bowl with salsa, bacon, and eggs (I had cheese on mine). Delicious. This is a clean, professional bed and breakfast that is worth returning to. read more

My husband, pup, and I had such a lovely stay! I was very excited to hear some of the rooms were dog friendly. We booked the Sacred Union Winter Getaway package that included the spa. Our whole experience was fantastic. Matt greeted us upon arrival and showed us to our lovely room called "Bill". I was surprised at how spacious and comfortable the room was. The gas fireplace was an added bonus. The shower pressure was fantastic and the bed was firm but comfortable. There was even a cute little balcony. House keeping also did a wonderful job of keeping our room clean and tidy. Breakfast each morning exceed our expectations. I was happy there was a little menu and was told they could pretty much customize anything I'd like. Chad was super personable and always engaged us in good conversation. You could tell how passionate he is about working there. The Inn itself was charming and I enjoyed the Victorian decor. Each day little treats were left in the lobby. The chocolate chip cookies were delicious!! The location was perfect and very walkable to Broadway Street and surrounding areas. We found that a lot of stores were still dog friendly, even during the winter. I definitely recommend The Sacred Spa during your stay. I learned that the owner and his wife also own the spa. The space was stunning and my husband and I had some of the best spa services ever. Overall, I would definitely return for another stay! The customer service was superb. I couldn't have picked a better bed and breakfast to celebrate my 50th birthday at with my family. The husband and wife team, Chad and Sarah, along with TJ were such wonderful people. They greeted us with smiles, delighted us with the history and tour of this magnificent mansion, made us a delicious breakfast from scratch and made sure our stay was both comfortable and memorable. Our room (Michael) was very spacious, decorated with tasteful period pieces of the early 1900s, fully stocked with amenities you would find in a 5 star hotel and comfortable as can be. Lovely stay in a wonderfully old Victorian house. I recommend the Bill room with its sunny and inviting front porch. The room is spacious and nicely appointed with period furniture. A quick visit to Saratoga for a concert was made so much more enjoyable because of our stay at the Union Gables Inn. Just 3 blocks from the race course and walkable stroll to the downtown, this is perfectly located. It's a grand, yet comfortable inn, with warm cookies to greet us. Our room was the Bill room with a fireplace and a balcony. The fireplace was lovely, but the balcony was just amazing- enjoyed morning coffee out there and watched Saratoga awaken. The king sized bed was so comfy and welcoming after a 2.5 hour concert in Albany. Breakfast options include delicious waffles, omelettes and perfectly cooked bacon and ham. The coffee was fresh and just enough to get our day going. Chef was so welcoming and hospitable. We were here in the quiet season, so it was relaxing and restful. The owners also have a spa in town- I didn't partake, but I'm sure the quality of the services is top notch. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area! read more

First time staying in Saratoga Springs. Came up from Florida for the Belmont Stakes. Justin has made us feel very welcomed each morning with breakfast made to our liking. The house is 125 years old and has all the things I love about the era it was built. The detail in all the trim, the wear and tear on all the doors and the creaking wood floors are what make a house of this age unique. No one builds homes to last this long anymore. To get to see an age gone by up close is a joy to my soul. I often feel I was born in the wrong time because I always find my mind embracing the late 1800's in architecture and fashion and not the time I am bound to today. My wife and I stayed at the Union Gabbles B & B around the 3rd week of September, for four nights as part of our wedding anniversary tour. From the moment we walked in we felt welcomed. Partners Justin and Laura are two outstanding individuals who understand and embrace the world of hospitality. Our experience was wonderful. Justin is a chef, and we had fine supper club dinner. In the mornings, we had great breakfast choices and Chad, the morning gate keeper of all things breakfast was nothing short of outstanding. A great conversationalist, acknowledgeable about the area, coupled with stellar service on par with Justin and Laura-all good human beings. I would be remiss if I did not mention two things we loved and did not expect-a great Bocce ball set and lawn space to go with it, and a very nice pool table in a private parlor. We played both every day-Bocce before we got ready to go out for the evening, and pool before we went up to our room for the night. Finally, a shout to the lovely Baguette, a nice surprise inhabitant. So, if you are ever in Saratoga Springs this is the joint-We stayed in the "Bill" room, I highly recommend it-but there is not a bad room in the house-go with confidence. read more

This is gonna be a long review have a lot to say! Let me start with saying I was in the hotel business (traveled internationally) for many years. I am extremely picky and criticize everything that is within the control of the staff/owners. So that being said..... First off : Location is KEY in this town...you can walk to the main drag (Broadway) easily from the Inn. Congress Park...shopping...eating...all easy walking. Park the vehicle and forget it if you want to stay "local". Second: The Inn is GORGOUS if you like "period" architecture and woodwork etc. SO GORGOUS and KEPT up A+++ The grand porch with amble seating and gorgeous flowers/plants was a super nice bonus. Lots of parking off street...pool super nice on a hot day. Towels provided. We used the indoor pool table at night with no problems (only suggestion is better lighting for night time in the Pool Room) The gardens A++++ Third: The room (Kate) we stayed in was perfect. Air condition (we like it cold) worked perfect. Bathroom had everything you needed (including two plush robes) Beds were comfortable and a lot of room for our things. Refrig. was great. TV and all the cable channels was nice at night.. Very very clean room and general spaces. Fourth: The hot breakfast, complementary tea and coffee was excellent. There were also menus at the check in area that you would look thru for outside food. Also lemonade, ice tea and cookies every afternoon. Last but not least...(all the above could be great but if the staff was not up to par then your trip would be crappy either way) THE STAFF: Holy cow....From Naomi who greeted us (with lemonade, ice tea and cookies). To Sara and Chad who seem to run the kitchen and generally manage the day to day - WOWWWW. If I had a business I would poach them all in the heartbeat. I cant even say enough as to how kind, attentive, knowledgeable they all were. Cared about their jobs as if they were owners and I have to say, this day and age, that is rare! Reading the review left before mine, I was a little concerned about this "new owner" and also not having a good experience, but I have to say, my husband and I were delighted with our 2-night stay at this fabulous B&B mansion. I loved reading the story about the first owner of the dwelling, whom had made his fortune back in the early 1900's by inventing the square-bottom brown paper bag! Who would've thought? What a concept! Anyway, its a shame that due to COVID-19 restrictions, no cooked, sit-down breakfast was available, but the establishment prepared very thoughtful, individual breakfast baskets for the guests which included high-end yogurt cups, bottles of chilled orange juice, fresh, warm croissants, oatmeal/honey bars, and clementines. I thought that was very nice. No fresh coffee available, either, and the coffee we made with the Keurig K-cup pods in our room was not very good, unfortunately. No creamer available. We stayed on the third floor and the little window A/C unit just could not keep up with the heat-wave, 90 degree + F days we experienced for a week straight this spring. We had the A/C cranked all night long, but we still had to sleep with just the sheet or no cover at all on us, as the room was rather uncomfortably warm- but just bearable. Our room was very quiet and clean, though, and the mattress was very comfortable; the shower totally sufficient. So, to conclude, other than the warm room and crummy coffee, we LOVED the staff and the mansion and the friendly service, as well as the atmosphere and ambiance. I love the charm at this lovely Victorian mansion B&B. The owner Todd is very nice and accommodating. We spent 4 days 3 nights here when we visited Saratoga Springs in early May. It's really convenient, and walking distance to town and Congress Park. You can enjoy some quiet down time at the mansion which also have a pool (seasonal) and gardens. At the same time the town is so close by if you want some actions. We will definitely stay here again next time when we visit Saratoga Springs. read more

NEW OWNER IS AN UNSCRUPULOUS COVID OPPORTUNIST! On July 15, 2020, we made a reservation for three nights, Aug 18-21. On August 10th - roughly a week before we're supposed to arrive - we are notified by email that they had "made a mistake" and that instead of the confirmed total stay price of $607.47, if we wanted our rooms we would have to now pay $1,406.85 for the same three nights! It went on to say that if we did not want to pay that amount they would not honor our reservation We had secured the reservation on July 10th with a credit card but no deposit was taken, nor requested at the time of booking. We promptly received our reservation confirmation via email. Now, one week prior to our arrival, we get hit with this email that's MORE THAN DOUBLE the rate. We called the hotel and spoke with the manager... a very nice person who admittedly said how wrong this was and that he was just the messenger. We further learned that as of three weeks ago the Union Gables Inn has a new owner, Mr. Anthony Melfi. I asked the manager to please have Mr. Melfi call us. When we spoke with Mr. Melfi he said we didn't put a deposit on the reservation and that he did not have to honor it. We replied that when we made the reservation a deposit was neither required nor requested by the previous owner and had it been, we would have gladly put one down. We reminded him that we did secure the reservation with our credit card and if the $50 deposit was all that was needed all he needed to do was ask. Instead, he used this policy - HIS POLICY - to jack up the rates. Now that hotel's in NY State are open for business, it's obvious that he is taking full advantage of the Covid-19 demand. Talk about unethical! The conversation deteriorated to a point where Mr. Melfi continued to get more and more belligerent and wouldn't allow us a word in edgewise. He also made false claims that we had mistreated the manager which is ABSOLUTELY UNTRUE and that we were the ones at fault in this fiasco! We travel extensively throughout the US and Europe and never have we faced such a disgusting and unscrupulous business practice. Mr. Melfi spouted that he has many years in business, albeit NOT in hospitality, which is clearly and painfully obvious. We can only imagine what his track record must be in those other businesses. What Mr. Melfi is doing is 100% unethical and we've already filed a complaint with the better business bureau. For anyone looking to get away and visit beautiful Saratoga Springs, do yourself a favor and avoid this property and its owner...nothing good will come from it! read more

I recently rented two rooms at the Union Gables. The building is beautiful and well kept. If you enjoy history and charm this is the place for you. The couple managing it are friendly and attentive. They made our stay just perfect and I would absolutely recommend this hotel. The breakfast was very good. They are a close walk to Broadway. And the icing on the cake is how dog friendly they are. We had booked a room in the Union Gables sister property, the Brunswick, and on our way to Saratoga, we received a call offering to upgrade us to a larger room in the Union Gables. We are so glad we took advantage of the opportunity! The contactless check in process was well explained and easy. The inn and the rooms were beautiful, immaculate, and well maintained. To top it off, the room where we stayed was comfortable, charming, and had plenty of space while still providing a cozy environment. Getting the fireplace to work took a little deciphering, but once we figured it out, it was toasty. We had trouble with the TV signal, but since we're not big TV watchers and spent most of our time with family in the area, it was not a problem. The married couple who met us for breakfast in the morning were effusive and clearly enjoyed managing the property. They shared with us that they love their jobs and felt they had found their calling - which was evidenced by the care they took to make each guest feel welcome and to do their best to accommodate every person's need. I would say they are truly the gem in the crown at this inn. Breakfast was good; and so many choices! My only small critique is that I would like to have been offered homemade breads and pastries rather than store bought. It really would have put the experience over the top. (I will admit that having had a mother who was a pastry chef makes me picky in this regard.) Overall, we had a lovely stay and we would highly recommend the Union Gables to anyone. read more

My daughter booked 5 nights for me while visiting her recently in Saratoga Springs. The Victorian house is beautiful and very well kept. I received a call the day before check in that the chef had an emergency and they would not be providing breakfast. Then asked if I wanted to stay in their other property up the street. I said no I would stay. They left a basket of cereal n bars in my room. Also provided a discount since there was no hot breakfast to be served. The first night I checked in I was provided a code to access the house after hours. My room was left unlocked for access. By Saturday coming and going I had never seen another person. So I called and spoke to Amy that said she was the inn keeper. I asked if I'm staying in the home alone because I have seen another person. She said, yes no one is there except a guest is in the pool house. Also She, the innkeeper was on the 3rd floor. By the fourth day I still had not met another person nor the inn keeper ever came to say hi. I heard creaking floors as someone walking around upstairs all thru the night. Knowing I was the only one there and the innkeeper never introduced herself to me was very uncomfortable. I did not sleep well there at all. I will say everything was very clean and the beds are very comfortable. It felt like I had booked an Airbnb. I chose not to stay there the last night as it felt very uncomfortable to be in this huge Victorian house with lights n music morning and night but I was the only one there. I would never recommend this place. There is zero hospitality. Very very odd experience. read more

Absolutely one of the best B&Bs we have been do. Pet friendly and even upgraded us to the front room with a balcony at no charge. Clean, large house with plenty of property and rooms to sit and relax in. Room was huge and the bathroom was well lit and clean. Union Gables Bed & Breakfast in Saratoga Springs was easily one of the best places I've stayed at while on the road. It's right off of Highway 9 and only a short drive off of interstate 87. The B&B is located only a few blocks away from the downtown area of Saratoga Springs where there are is an abundance of restaurants, bars, clubs and anything else you're looking for in terms of nightlife. The room itself was enormous, almost as big as my entire apartment in NYC. It came with a king-size sleigh bed, refrigerator, Iron/Ironing board, wireless internet, air conditioning, gas fireplace, robes, flat screen television, hair dryer, desk, chaise lounge and more. As far of the rest of Union Gables goes; there is a huge wrap-around porch out front, a beautiful swimming pool, tons of places to lounge and even complimentary bicycles to ride around the city. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I was able to check in unload my belongings into my room right away and go on my way exploring the town. If you ever find yourself visiting Saratoga Springs, Union Gables is the place to stay. Next time I come back to the city, that's where I'm staying. read more

Both nice rooms with comfy king beds and had fireplaces. Annie had a slightly larger bathroom. Breakfast was good and cooked to order in the morning, omelets, pancakes etc, all delicious. Jane, the inn keeper, was great. Complimentary wine from 5-7, where guests gathered by the fire and we got to chat with some new people. Walk to great restaurants and bars in town. First time at this spot and I loved it. Nice location and easy check in. The pool was closed since it was winter. but still enjoyed the chairs on the deck to read during the day. This place was right up the street from the main strip and could have walked easily but my favorite part was that it was still so quiet. They have a parking lot that's easy so you don't have to park on the street. The breakfast was great. I can't wait to come back. read more

Union Gables is top on my list of B&B's. From the moment we arrived we knew that this is the place for us. We rented the Henry Suite it was perfect. Spacious clean and nicely decorated. We travel with our Bernese mountain dog and there was plenty of room for him. Perfectly located first floor and right by the pool. The pool area has plenty of lounge chairs and 2 cabanas with a big beautiful built in pool perfect for just relaxing. Breakfast was amazing the pancakes were my favorite and coffee was excellent. Definitely will come back. Tom the owner was a great host and gave us a list of adventures to check out. Perfect location if you want to go to the track or even the casino not to mention a very close walk to town. Thank you Tom and staff for such a wonderful vacation. Union Gables is a great bed and breakfast located in the heart of Saratoga Springs that deserves a 5-star rating for being perfect. We were visiting the city to see a concert at SPAC and decided to give Union Gables a try because most of the other hotels were sold out. Upon arrival the owners were very gracious and immediately checked us in. They gave us the "lay of the land," and informed us that we could walk to the performing arts center. This was great news because we had planned on drinking. Union Gables is located about 2 miles from SPAC and about 5 blocks from downtown. The location couldn't have been more ideal. Our room had everything we needed; WiFi, a king-size bed, bathroom, and a working air conditioner. The house was old and the floors creeked but that just added to the experience. Every morning there was a continental breakfast that included hot coffee and they also cleaned the room while we were gone. If you enjoy the quaintness of a bed and breakfast instead of a standard hotel then I suggest you give Union Gables a try. read more

If you are looking for the Saratoga Springs historical experience this place delivers it. A charming old Victorian big on charm but with some wear and tear you wouldn't find in modern boutique hotels, it's very much a reflection of the town it's in. It's saying something that even though there were window blinds completely missing on one window in our room and the bathrooms are very dated and not in good way, think 1980's not 1880's the overwelming charm our room, the downstairs with it's two fireplaces that were lit every day and the fresh baked cookies in the evening as well as a nice breakfast in the morning made up for the discomfort. If you like Victorian charm more than luxury beds and are ok without flatscreens and modern features then this is a great place to stay. The French spouse who stays at the W and the Ritz Carlton would have preferred more luxury but I liked the worn in charm. read more

Wonderful time : We played pool in the parlor, sat out on the front porch sipping our complimentary evening wine, walked into town, visited with owner, Tom, ate an incredible cooked to order breakfast, just an incredible stay!!!! The gardens are serene. This will be our regular place to stay. The Inn is on the main drag so you will hear cars but it did not bother us a bit; location is perfect walking distance for downtown (and all its wonderful restaurants) or the race track. They provided a private dinner setting for our extended family (I ordered the food catered by Mama Mia's). The new owners and White family even bought fresh roses for the center piece, and asked what type of music we would like to have them play. My sister and I had a very nice stay at Union Gables. It was a little pricy, but I hear that happens in the summer. We were in the 4th floor? But our bags were carried up for us so it was fine. The room was spacious, no closet, but it was very clean and comfortable. We had our own bath that was great. They have a continental breakfast and also a made to order breakfast menu. We had a wonderful stay at Union Gables. I cannot say enough how friendly the owner and staff were. The breakfast buffet was fabulous, there was so much to choose from. The house is beautiful and very clean, beds were comfortable and made everyday. Our favorite part of our stay were the bicycles they have for guest to use. We put lots of miles on them exploring Saratoga Springs. Went to Saratoga this past weekend for the annual opening of the track. Have passed the Union Gables many times over the years and finally decided to stay there. They are IDEALLY located only a short walk both to the track and into downtown Saratoga. Jill and her staff are a 10 when it comes to hospitality and customer service. This is the bed and breakfast experience at it's very best! Oh and the pool and new furniture around make you feel like you are at a resort. WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU GIVE THEM A TRY. First time to Saratoga Springs I thought I try something different, my first stay at a Bed and Breakfast. Wow. Seriously, wow. From the minute I walked in, it felt like home, an incredibly large, nice home. The warmth from the staff is overwhelming. I got in late afternoon and everything was spotless and peaceful. The room has a great feel of traditional charm with modern conveniences. Plenty of room for all your electronics and paperwork on the desk (yes, I still have paperwork). I didn't even notice the tv at first, mounted above the fireplace. The bed was one of the most comfortable I've slept on. From the bedroom to the bathroom, everything is up to date without losing the traditional feel. It's quite impressive. After a nap, coffee and helpful advice about downtown, I was on my way. Coming back late at night, Union Gables is stunning. The pool, garden and grounds are lit up. If it was warmer, would've been great to just hang out quietly on the porch. Others reviews have raved about the breakfast and all I can do is agree. There's a fresh spread of fruit, granola, yogurt, breads, juices, coffee and more while you wait for your custom order if you choose (had an amazing omelette). I got up to get some more juice and by the time I got back to my table, my empty dishes were gone. The location couldn't be better. Downtown was buzzing Saturday morning. Instead of driving, I walked to the end of the street to the park (friendliest ducks I've ever seen). If you walk through the park, you'll be downtown. So much easier than parking. The biggest plus of the entire stay was the friendliness of not just the staff, but even the guests. Everyone just seemed happy to be there. A huge difference from the hotels experience. Did not stay here but met some friends who did. Had breakfast wth them one morning and it was excellent. Highly recommend the French toast!!!! I would stay here next time I'm in town. The host is super friendly and place is nice. It has a pool! read more
