There's a small section of baby clothes if you need to shop for a little one. I bought a beautiful ornament there, shaped like Santa with a Chicago-scape painted on the back of his robes (and was glad to get it for 40% off); if that ornament was any indication of the ones they sold at the height of holiday shopping season, they had some beautiful ornaments, too. Where they fell down (hard, IMO) was service. I wandered for about ten or more minutes looking around. There were at least three employees here (though one was in the back for at least part of my visit), and only two other parties whilst I was in here--both of whom left at least five minutes before I finished up. Not a single employee said a word to me whilst until I checked out, when one had to acknowledge me. They talked to each other... I heard them gossiping about family holiday drama... and even when they stopped chatting and parted, neither could spare a hello or anything. All this is to say that I don't expect I'll return, which won't be too difficult since I'm not in Winnetka often, but there are other shops where you can get pretty much anything that's here and you'll be treated better.

They have all sorts of classes and events happening weekly at Sweet Buddha. Everything from a homework club (genius) to trunk shows to cupcake decorating (yes, more sugar). I've also heard from many friends who were frequent visitors of their old city location that they throw some pretty amazing bday parties! My daughter has already told me (about 1273 times) that she'll be having a future bday party at Sweet Buddha. Sweet Buddha isn't just for kids! When my own summer bday bash on the beach got rained out the owner, Sarah, was nice enough to let us to let us rent the space last minute. It was the perfect venue and I'll definitely look into for all future partying planning in my future (bday parties, moms night outs, baby showers, etc). I'm as thrilled as my little ones to have this in Glencoe and excited to see how this city business adapts to the burbs. I'd love to see some more mommy/caregiver & me classes on the calendar since there's not much for the under 2 crowd in the North Shore. I also think their creative bday party packages are amazing, but the rental fee if you want just the space is a bit high when compared to all the park district rooms nearby (not that the PD rooms are nearly as adorable). Initial Choice invited me in and told me they would find a way to make my project happen. I went in an immediately felt like these people knew what they were doing and really cared about making sure my friend got what she deserved on her wedding day. They made several suggestions and I basically told them I would leave the project in their clearly capable hands. I went back to pick up the shoes a few short business days later and everything was perfect. I could not have asked for better work and better customer service. On top of everything I found their prices to be extremely reasonable. I cannot wait to go back when I'm not under pressure to have more projects done!
