Step 1. Find Melissa Harris. and then-- wow!…read more Now that we've gotten that out of the way, I can tell you that Melissa is simply the best. We met during an open house and she answered SO many of our questions that we were just floored by her knowledge of the area, properties and services. We decided to have her be our Realtor, and what a great decision that was! Melissa checked in on us often during the process of purchasing our amazing (squeal!) home. She was always there to answer questions, make suggestions and keep us informed in what was happening and what to expect next. She truly is caring and obviously loves to do what she does... it reflects in the way she manages her business and clients like us. If anyone ever mentioned they were buying a house, Melissa's name would be the first one to come out of our mouth! She truly made our experience amazing-- we are very lucky to say that we don't have a horror story when it comes to buying a house. I don't think I could give her all the recognition she deserves in a review-- she made our dreams come true with our house and even more with the way she handled our process. Thank you, Melissa!

Two names to remember: MICHAEL ROBINSON and COREY MATNEY…read more Michael is the owner of this branch, and Corey an agent. Together these two guys are our "Aces in our Pocket!" Michael's expertise is amazing and undeniable! He can read and process real estate unlike anybody I've met. If you're buying, he can give you a really accurate feel for true value - and house quality. -- And he'll be totally honest with you! (Not a lot of schmoozing here!) When selling --- WOW! This is the guy for you! Again - he will be honest with you. He will tell you straight-up what he thinks your house will go for ... quickly. We have met with many other agents ... and many of them give us numbers that are "fluffy" to say the least. (If not overpriced - and I say this humbly, because as we sold our house, we had to deal with the reality of the "agents'" idea of value - often too high ... and the reality of what a buyer would pay) Michael will be up front - and may even sound a bit lower asking than other agents would encourage. But - TRUST ME - he knows what it takes to sell... without being on the market for several months (or longer!). Yet, he is still capable of hearing you out --- and totally worked with us on getting the most (the fastest) out of our home. And let's not even talk about contacts... Michael has been around Tacoma for a long time ... and knows EVERYBODY! Corey Matney worked with us (in tandem with Michael) -- he was our main buying agent. He was so on top of it with looking for houses. He wasn't stalker-ish (and don't even pretend you don't know what I'm talking about!... some agents are just flat-out creepy and annoying!). He understood what we were looking for - price, size, and motivation. This Windermere office has my highest respect -- and we've worked with A LOT of different agents/companies/offices! I - as a rule - have little time or respect for real estate agents (I know ... that's pretty rude of me), and I don't give out respect freely without it being earned -- so, the least I can do it throw up a YELP review! Give them a call -- and hear them out!

Right away he was very friendly and addressed me and my partner's needs right away. First impressions really mean a lot to me especially in the field I work. Alvin definitely left a very good first impression with us. Instead of getting to the administrative stuff (so boring) he took the opportunity to get to know us, which made us feel appreciated as a valued customer. Alvin made the paperwork experience fun. We shared a lot of laughs and he made us feel like we could take off our shoes and relax while he puts in the work. Also, he's LGBT friendly, which I was a huge plus on my end. After all the administrative stuff was done (super boring) he took a look at his calendar and was able to squeeze us in to view a home nearby. We arrived at the first viewing. Right away Alvin knew what we wanted after getting to know us a bit. One of the things I admired about him was that he never used his own personal opinion about the house unless we would ask. He pointed out some things right off the bat that may need some work but also noted that he's not an inspector. He would tell us not to fall in love too quickly and be patient. He advised we should look at other homes first before making our first offer. Our first offer was on a home along Cushman Ave in Tacoma. We experienced falling in love w/ a 1 bedroom home and 1 bath. It was about 700 sqft (wtf?). When Alvin took us to view the home, he pointed out features and potential upgrades for the future. I also liked that he explained the difference between updates and upgrades. Alvin was definitely on that offer by being persistent with checking in and mediating what exactly was going on. We ended up writing a letter to try and secure the home with the offer we put. Unfortunately, we were outbid. Ugh, I'm so glad we didn't get that tiny 1 bedroom w/ an awkward mirror on top of the tub. Alvin's lesson was don't jump the gun too early because there may be something else better out there. However, he pointed out that if it's what we want he will fight for it! It was time to put another offer on another home. Our last offer which totals 3, we finally got accepted. It was a total upgrade from that little Cushman house. After all that crazy stress about getting outbid and all the wondering, Alvin always kept our spirits lifted by telling us not to worry and that "he will" get us into a home. His words came through to me as confident and uplifting. When we did the walkthrough I was excited and he would remind me in a joking way not to get too excited. That really helped me focus because as a first-time homebuyer I was just ready and willing to get this over with. Thanks for keeping me in check Alvin! He took us on the tour of the house and pointed out anything he could. Everything he pointed out did not leave any biased feelings about the house, but rather things to look out for. Even when the inspection came back with some little things, he was on it right away. He would tell us that he's going to make sure these things are taken care of before move-in. Alvin kept his word and never left any promises or mentions unfulfilled. Overall, if you're looking for someone who is true to keeping his word and treating you like a person/friend instead of a general customer, then I recommend Alvin. There was never a time where I was skeptical about him. He smiles a lot, he has a respectful demeanor, he's trustworthy, he's not greedy or money-hungry like some other realtors out there who just want to put you in a home right away so they can get that paycheck, and most important he was very communicative. In any friendship/relationship communication is the key! This guy really showed where he needed to be. Another fun thing about Alvin was that we had so many laughs with some of the houses we looked at. I remember seeing an old house with a creepy little door that reminded me of Paranormal Activity. We would laugh about those things which prove to me that Alvin is just a person and not a money-hungry realtor. I can write more about him but this review is already super long. I give you props if you read the whole thing. Thank you, Alvin, for everything. We are settled in and we appreciate everything you've done for us. I also really love my orchid you left for us when we got our keys. I appreciate the welcome gift/card and it really made us feel like a friend of yours rather than a client lol. You have been persistent, honest, and reliable. If you're boss ever sees this they better recognize! Lastly, anyone could be all those things I mentioned, but you outshined people I've come across in your field. P.S. I'm keeping the sold sign for my man cave lol.

He will learn what you like and dislike, then help point that out in the houses. His scheduling is masterful, no matter what he will keep you able to visit houses. We ended up seeing something like 35 - 40 houses in the end and he didn't complain at all while rescheduling everything for me because I ran late most of the time. Great guy, and I enjoyed working with him. The only thing that would've been nice is if he knew the financing process slightly better, but that isn't really his business.

Many of my questions went unanswered, and I often felt I had to repeatedly follow up for information and updates. In fact, I had to contact Zillow for corrections when that's the realtor's job. The home remained on the market for an extended period with very limited feedback provided to me. Aside from being told the house showed well and one buyer wanted a larger downstairs bedroom, I received little information regarding buyer or agent impressions. After consulting another real estate professional, I learned that several staging and presentation changes were recommended immediately that had previously been dismissed. I had suggested these changes for staging purposes and was told, "it's fine." This left me questioning whether my home had been positioned as effectively as possible from the beginning. I was also surprised to discover that the website printed on the business cards was not functioning properly. As a seller, I expect marketing materials and online resources to be fully operational. My biggest concern was that I did not feel informed throughout the process. Selling a home is one of the largest financial transactions most people will ever make, and I believe sellers deserve clear communication, realistic pricing guidance, timely responses, and proactive marketing. This was my experience, and I hope it helps other sellers ask detailed questions about communication expectations, marketing plans, and pricing strategy before signing a listing agreement. I would not recommend her services.
