My nail tech was so nice but I realized after leaving just how many imperfections my nails have and I highly doubt my gel manicure lasts me the week. The ends are already chipping and several places the polish goes over onto my skin which is going to cause it to start peeling up soon. I should have looked a little closer before leaving I guess. My other experiences here have been so good, so maybe today was just off. Just bummed I spent what I did for this particular visit. read more

Unique Nails used to be a wonderful shop. I'd not been back since the COVID lockdown in Feb 2020. Now the place has new owners (I was told), whole new crew. What happened to Jenny & Steve? Got a gel mani, not as nice as when Jennifer did my nails. I requested a repair to one nail slightly split at the tip. Wasn't done despite my reminder. Polish wasn't applied against the cuticle on several nails. Gaps. Off-putting, unfriendly vibe. Only a few customers on a Friday. Very unusual to see this. One tech was sleeping in a corner. This is not the same salon as it was before. I also asked if they still offered brow waxing. My tech said no. Funny, but I see a current review mentioning a brow waxing. Bye bye Unique Nails. The ladies here at Unique Nail sure do treat you like a decent human being. Usually at nail joints, you have to endure some abuse as you're never sure if they're talking about you in their native language. However, Unique Nail goes out of their way to speak English to one another, although it is clear that it is not their first language. Plus, as they do your nails, they focus on you as an individual. I got acrylic nails but they ensured that they were super-thin to look more natural. The prices are reasonable, and the equipment seems newer and hygienic. Bring cash, though, since they charge $1 for CC. Men seem equally welcome here, too. UPDATE: the nails I got from here were the most complimented ever, super strong, and hardly damaged after 3+ weeks of wear. Wish I could return, but I live 3000 miles away. read more

I'm not really one for pampering. Surprisingly its been almost a year since I have gotten a professional Mani-pedi. But I with formal event and my BF returning back from a 5 month deployment, I wanted every part of me to look its best, which included my hands, toes and a little eyebrow & lip waxing (OUCH!!!!). First off, the location/GPS coordinates are a bit confusing, especially if you are driving through San Marco in the midst of heavy traffic. The store is in the shopping plaza directly across the street from La Nap and next door to the bank. However the parking for this establishment is located behind the plaza. Even if you call in an appointment it appears you would need to wait to be seated. But the staff works as fast as they can, and still provide quality service. I would not recommend this place, if you are planning on getting a quick lunch time polish change. The quality of their work is excellent. I felt that everyone was friendly, knowledgeable and clean. I constantly watch as staff members, washed their hands, workstations and utensils. I didn't see any evidence of cross contamination or unsanitary facilities. Overall I was very satisfied with the work they did on my eyebrow and nails. I will be scheduling another appointment really soon. read more

After a rather scarring pedicure experience at my old fave [to remain unnamed], Unique Nail Salon did a great job of restoring my confidence in the mani/pedi industry. Located in San Marco across the street from La Nopolera, this place is centrally located and close to downtown. The building is nice enough. It seems fairly modern and is painted in warm tones. There are a number of pedicure stations with your standard back massaging chairs. What really impressed me about Unique was the pedicurists. They are all really friendly, but also don't force you to have a really in depth conversation about non-sense if you aren't into it. You can just sit back and relax. They also don't use razors, which I hate [those things kind of freak me out]. Instead, they use an electric powered buffing machine. It works just as well as a razor, if not better, and is so much safer. They do a nice job with the paint and it is pretty inexpensive. I definitely recommend this place for a mani/pedi! read more

While there isn't anything especially "unique" about this salon, I'm very impressed with the service the technicians give each and every customer. If you are sick of searching for a high-quality, low-cost manicure or pedicure, Unique Nails is just what the doctor ordered. I've tried a number of local salons to see which has the longest-wearing gel polish, and Unique Nails goes the distance. Gel polish is marketed to last two weeks, but my manicures from Unique Nails often last more than three. This San Marco salon also offers waxing and permanent makeup services. Unique Nails takes walk-in clients, but I like to make appointments. Saturdays can be quite busy as the salon is closed on Sundays. For an inexpensive mani / pedi, this place has nailed it (cheesy pun intended). read more

My nails were done thick, but not too thick so they won't crack or chip. Just basically grow out and need to be done again in a few weeks. I'm at 2 weeks growth now and I'll post a pic. They have lots of options and carry the good brands (lots of OPI). This is my go-to place to get gel. They take a lot of time and make sure your nails look perfect before you walk out the door. All of the techs seem friendly and experienced. They are quick but careful. I am a little surprised the gel is $30... I'd be curious to see what it is at other places. This place has a million colors to choose from, which is amazing!! But, they shaved the top layer of my nails for a gel manicure. Which just makes them even more brittle once the gel comes off. I also think the nail polish is way too thick. I am in town visiting and found this place on yelp. I don't mind it as a one time nail place, but don't think I would make it an every two week place. I have been to some amazing places and this is just mediocre. It was $30 for a gel manicure which is also pretty pricey for what I've been used to. read more

I have gone to Unique Nails for many years. I left this salon last Christmas because I got frustrated. They don't manage their appointments well. You arrive for your appointment and still wait a half an hour or more. After several years of great service and quality things have begun to go downhill. Appointments mean nothing at this salon. I made an appointment for a specific technician and was told it would not be a problem only to arrive and be told she could not do my nails today and would I mind if someone else did my nails. The technician who did my nails tried really hard but they are super thick and not the quality Im used to. In addition, parking is difficult. You often have to park behind the salon and it doesn't feel safe. Today a man was in the parking lot who looked like he was living there and it made me uncomfortable. I am visiting from out of town. It is always scary to go to an unknown nail salon because you don't know the condition of the store or skill of the technicians. This place was open feeling and very clean as opposed to some salons where the technicians have dirty hands or there are fragments of other people's nails laying about (gag!). Everyone was friendly and easy to communicate with. My technician understood my requests and even made a color recommendation. The quality of the manicure was great.
