Just moved here 3 days & in broke several nails deep into the quick. Asked for a repair & to have the other nails cut down a bit. They refused & said I had to get a while new said as they would crack. I've never had them crack. They are my nails covered by dip. I said I'd take a chance but he said no.. To find someplace else. I want to give a shout out to Ooh La La nails and my technician, Anna, for always providing a great experience. After 25 years of going to the same nail salon in Amelia Island it was tough to find one in Jacksonville that would work for me. I tried multiple ones here and found Anna and Ooh La La Nails last year and have been very happy. I love OPI polishes and don't want any other brand. I do hope they will continue to order the new colors as they become available. It is very important to me. I get the SNS dip and the Ooh La La pedicure at each visit. This is my first time here in a long time and I've been missing out! Some girlfriends and I gathered for some birthday festivities and I enjoyed a nice long and relaxing pedicure. I opted for the 'ohh la la' pedicure which included a few extra perks. A great occasional treat! From the moment I walked in I felt super welcome. More nail salon hopping for me. The last place I went to I thought I'd found a permanent place to get them done but the last job just ruined my experience. I wanted SNS Ombre and they were done using the acrylic bond and the SNS powder. This didn't work out and needed to be corrected, which it was but not to my liking and I kept it for 3 weeks. I reeeeeally wanted to find a place that did SNS with encapsulated flowers but I couldn't find any other than with acrylic nails. Enter Ooh La La. I called first to see if they did to which they confirmed and wanted me to stop by the shop to look over the dried flowers that they had in the shop. I did and they were to my liking. I made an appointment for a couple days later to get it done. The day of I met their nail tech Tai, who confessed that this would be his first time doing something like this but was pretty confident that he could. This didn't make me nervous at all. I showed him a photo of how I wanted them done and he was off. He took his time and I even let him experiment with different colors and patterns. Then to top it off, I also added two rhinestones to my nails and let him decide where to place them. The finished product was amazing and I was one happy lady. I think I want to return to this one a few more times before making a firm decision as to if this is my new go-to salon. So far, it's been awesome! read more

First thing that comes to mind when I am told that they must go over their "rules and code of conduct" and as Lee gets to #9 and it is "you must wash your hands each time you enter our building." The first thing I wonder is, did someone sue this business because a customer got some hand fungus or flesh eating bacteria and so now they require superfluous authoritarian dictates for me to earn the privilege of doing business with them? Oddly, they have two doors, one filthy, one clean... I took the cleaner one because I had just washed my hands at Tropical Smoothie Cafe next door. I told the front desk person, Lee that I had just washed my hands, I have eczema, so they would get red and agitated, if not raw if I wash too much and he says "Well you still must do it in front of us." So, after Lee inferred that I was lying about washing and my eczema, I walk back to do so despite being talked in a condescending manner, after all this is about them and their neuroticism and not mine, no need to take offense at their rude superiority complex. However, if I were them, would I not be asking, why I did not witness him wash his hands the last time they went to the restroom? So why do employees not all have to wash their hands in front of me to prove themselves to me, as the paying customer? Do you know how many times you've seen someone go to the restroom where they work and not hear a sink turn on or witness them walk straight out of the stall bypassing the sink and soap? Is this not discriminatory in some fashion or is it just me? Next, I go to the messy sink, that is clearly not sanitized after each use and I use the automatic hand soap but as I walk away still hearing running water, I come to the realization this is the first time in 3 years I've been to any business that did not have an automatic sink faucet. Surely, if you are a germ freak you would realize sink handles are breeding grounds for bacteria, anyway, I turn it off and proceed to let Lee know that it is a superfluous act if I must touch the dirty handle that I and each person who washed their hands today touched with dirty hands before me. It definitely did not look as though it had not been cleaned today and definitely not sanitized after each customer. Then, I asked if Lee and Tony know that human genome carries some 22,000 protein-coding genes, researchers estimating that the human microbiome contributes some 8 million unique protein-coding genes or 360 times more bacterial genes than human genes? Also, if you continuously was your epidermis with stringent anti bacterial soap, it will break down its natural barrier and weaken its layers to outside germs even more. My hands were actually already hurting because Tropical Smoothie has seriously strong antibacterial soap and I have eczema. This is just a couple off the top of my head hypocrisies I can think of other than when the lady came up and started policing my language telling me I need to get out of the salon because I was being rude by asking questions. In a post authoritarian movement time period, I absolutely will never step foot into this gross, hypocritical place again. If I wanted to live in a false utopian I wouldn't live in Florida. please excuse grammatical errors as I just don't care... its meant to make you laugh, because how can you not at this foolishness? read more

After many many years of going there I have had enough. Being asked by the techs to Venmo or pay their tip in cash (because the owner charges them the credit card fee on their tip) paying one price with one tech and something different with another. Asking why the price for the same service has gone up and no one being able to answer you. Asking my granddaughter if she wants designs without asking me so that the price is tripled by the time I go to pay. Beware of shady upcharges and even shadier excuses. Know what you're going to pay before you get to the register. It's a shame that the techs that work there have to deal with the owner's nonsense. Her excuses for bad reviews always puts the blame on someone other than herself and almost all of them concern her "upcharges"! EDIT: for those of you that went to Henry I FOUND HIM! Had appointment today for pedicure and dip powder. I made it for 2pm and didn't get sat down until close to 2:30. My toes are perfect. The pedicure did feel rushed. There wasn't even the exfoliating for my legs. I thought that was a standard in most salons. However, my manicure I'm not very happy with. I had let the tech know I like square with nice sharp edges. No round edges. She in fact gave me the round edges. They aren't even square shaped, almost almond on some? The color was also supposed to have glitter. She had to file over them so many times it made the glitter go away. That's why I picked that color. I came home and just filed them to my liking. I thought we were on the same page but turns out not so much. I thought about calling to have them redone but I'm leaving for vacation and just don't have time. After leaving I had an appointment and noticed two of my fingernails were messed up and not covered. I went back less than an hour later and Tony at the front desk told me he could not take care of me then and I needed to come back two hours later. I said I was unable to and I paid for a service and would like it fixed. He said not until two hours, to come back if I wanted it fixed. I have being getting my nails done for a long time and the few times I had problems it was corrected right away. I wasn't going to leave a public review for one guy Tony, so I sent an email 2 days with no response. I will not be going back. I didn't give it five stars because there was confusion on who I was supposed to be with and sat in a pedicure chair not knowing they were looking for me. As a lifelong resident of Jacksonville, I've been to my share of nail salons in town. You will not find a more friendly, professional or comfortable nail salon in Jacksonville. The whole team owner Jessica has assembled, from the front desk staff to the nail technicians, are incredibly talented and make sure clients feel welcomed and pampered from the minute you walk in. In these days of Covid-19, I feel very safe due to the extra precautions and safety procedures the salon has taken to protect clients and staff. The salon is spotlessly clean and spacious. You can't go wrong with any service. The technicians are all artists. I personally love the SNS manicure - my polish lasts such a long time. As for pedicures, the Oh la la pedi or the Volcano Detox pedicure is such a treat. Shout out to Tina, who is an absolute miracle worker! When I need polish color suggestions, she never steers me wrong. Lucky for me Ooh La La is right down the road off Hodges, but I would drive across town if I had to. read more

Tai outdid himself this time! I tried SNS again but this time with ombré nails. I toom Tai's advice and went with almond-shaped nails because they looked better with the design. I could not be more pleased with how they turned out. As an added bonus, they make my hands look slimmer. I'm sad that I'll be leavings Jacksonville soon because it'll be hard to replace Tai. They are CLEAN, using covers for their pedicure bins and unopened/one-time use nail utensils for certain services, which is very much appreciated. The host said "7:30" . I asked if I had time to get a full set and pedicure , I didn't want to be an asshole and walk in too late. She said yes. I told her I lived 20 min away! I was still told yes! I Arrived @ 6:28 , walked in and was greeted by the sweet host , told her again what I wanted and at this point she said " let make sure we have the people and time to do this" I said okay, well I called before I left my House and was told yes . She said let me triple check! She comes back and says " we have someone, I don't know why but they're doing your full set before Your pedicure ". I said that's odd . I walk over to my nail tech , I believe her name was Anna. She was sweet, I made it clear to her that my sole purpose of this visit was my pedicure . At 7:10 on the dot she calls the host over and tells her to find someone to do my pedicure . At this point there are FOUR employees doing each other's nails. Two in front of me and two to the left of me and 3 customers getting their nails done. The host walks to the TWO techs in front of me and asks if one of them can do my pedicure and I hear " of course not, we're all tired, go ask someone else" I almost fell out of my chair ! The host looked right at me with a shock on her face ! She went and asked a man and he said yes. By this point I'm like " hell no, I need to go" you can do each other's nails but you can't serve a paying customer whose going to spend minimum $100?? I told Anna to shape my nails so I could leave. I left this place with a full set with NO POLISH and NO PEDICURE due to the unprofessional And rude comments I heard. I doubt these two techs even knew I heard them but I did. I've never felt so uncomfortable in my life. At 7:30 on the dot ; every tech left. It was me and one other lady. The tech who made the rude comment was still there. She sat in a pedicure chair and played With a baby. When I left , she was still there. Never in my life have I felt so humiliated for trying to give someone my own money! read more
