First, this is in no way a "suite" it is way more an old time "motel" that you drive right up to, which I love. It's great having the cooler close by. The room is a little smaller than most, but very clean and comfortable. The beds and pillows were awesome. I did have to unplug the refrigerator because it was so loud, but like I said the cooler was right out the door. The attached restaurant was very nice and despite some of the reviews I read quite reasonable. The catfish was great. The free morning breakfast was also very nice. Coffee was especially good. Everything. It's was so filthy-see pics of the dirty bed I slept in because I got in late and didn't notice. The management said I would be refunded as I was so disgusted I packed everything to leave when I woke up. The charged me for my full stay and refused to respond to Expedia or myself. I was told once in person and once over the phone I would be allowed to cancel my stay AND receive a refund for the night I was there but then was charged the entire 4 day stay. read more

Unique Suites failed at the most basic function of a hotel: honoring confirmed reservations. I coordinated a family block in March with manager Mike -- 10 rooms, 15% discount, clear terms. What followed was two months of staff giving verbal assurances with zero written confirmation. Calls to Macy (April 8), Stacy (April 18), and Hark (May 11) each produced promises, not paperwork. By the time my family arrived, rooms had evaporated from the system entirely. My aunt held four confirmed reservations with confirmation numbers. She arrived May 21 to be told none of them existed. The only reason three rooms were found at all was because a maintenance employee -- not front desk, not management -- intervened. The fourth room? Simply gone. The rooms they did provide were poorly maintained. No remote for the TV in my parents' room. A detail that's almost funny in context, except nothing about this experience was funny. This isn't a staffing hiccup. It's a systemic failure in reservation management, internal communication, and basic accountability. I would not recommend this property to anyone coordinating group travel, or frankly, any travel at all. read more

I and several members of my family booked this hotel in March for a family reunion in May. This hotel lost reservations even with multiple calls, nor did they honor reservations WITH confirmation numbers. Do not recommed booking here. read more

Stayed there for two nights, after making a reservation over the phone for a yearly family reunion. When I made the reservations months earlier, I asked if their bar was open and was assured that it would be at the time of my reservation. These people have said that they renovated their hotel rooms, and I paid more to be in an upgraded (Executive room)! 1. The first room that they put me in did not have a smoke detector at all! 2. One chair was dirty, and the seat springs were broken. 3. There was black mold around the vanity sink. 4. The lamp shades were torn. 5. The bathroom tub bottom was filthy dirty. 5. The shower curtain rod was falling off the wall! I did ask for a different room, and was moved to another which was barely in better shape! For breakfast, I was told by a staff member that the coffee pot was broken, and found that the scrambled eggs and biscuit gravy BOTH were cold, although the man warmed it up quickly. By that time, I had lost my appetite and opted to go to McDonald's instead! I spent over $125 per night for this fleabag joint! NEVER AGAIN. Their new restaurant ( INDIAN food) is overpriced for the area, and judging from the hotel's cleanliness, I refused to eat there! Next year I will be staying in Mattoon, only 8 miles down the same road! STAY AWAY from this one! read more

No security or staff on duty at night. They let drunks yell and scream all night with not one to stop it. Never will stay here again.

I have stayed at this hotel once prior to my visit this weekend 1/18-19, 2025. When asked upon making the reservation and also upon arrival what the $20 difference was between a standard and executive king. I was told that the difference was due to the newly renovated room. The clerk put us in the nicest most remodeled room. This included a rusted bathroom door frame, rusted coat rack, torn and worn carpeting, chipped furniture and no coffee maker (which was in the room description. Breakfast was free although I would not recommend it. Breakfast at 8 am should be stocked with all breakfast items. There was barely enough food for the two of us to share. Don't be fooled by the very nice lobby, it is pretty but put the money into your rooms and do not misrepresent what you advertise as upgrades Renovated rooms. You lost my trust and business going forward. read more

I always stay at the Unique suites when I'm in Charleston, which is often. Last night I arrived after three long days of driving and staying at a couple of just ok "chain" hotels. I felt like I had come home. I love that I can pull my car up to the room. The bed is comfortable and the room is clean. Brickhouse Restaurant and Bar is outstanding. And as I sit here and enjoy the outstanding free breakfast, I can easily say not only is this the best motel in the area, it's one of the best I've experienced. Also free WiFi, and a great pool. read more

I had a last minute trip that came up and I can't say enough. My suite was roomy and very clean. I was nestled in the back by the pool. It was surprisingly quiet back there and extremely conducive to relaxing. David was so kind and helpful. I was tired from a 12 hour drive. He checked in to make sure all of my housekeeping needs were met. I would stay again in a heartbeat(and probably will!). Breakfast was prepared each morning and the convince of the brick house bar and grill made lunch and dinner so easy. read more

Wasn't too sure about staying at an unknown brand hotel. Glad we did! Super friendly staff. Nice rooms. Clean and comfortable and renovated. Typical complimentary breakfast. Best of all reasonable rates. We didn't eat at the on site restaurants, but they were busy when we arrived. Will stay here again next time we are in town. I travel a lot, and I was very impressed. My company put me here, and I thought, "what the hell is Unique Suites?!". Didn't expect much, but the room was gorgeous and well-equipped. Really liked the bathing supplies, and the bed was really comfortable. Overall, remarkably clean with great amenities for the price. Staff is also very friendly and responsive. Hoping my company sends me back out to Charleston ASAP. Only real downside is that there are no hallways. I usually don't like hotels that open up to the outside world, but it was worth it. read more

Disappointed with hotel management. Meghan in the morning working the front desk and breakfast setup was very nice and understanding. Jennica was an outstanding server at dinner. The bartender at lunch was very friendly. We had inconsistent internet access. The gentleman we spoke with in the evening told us the fitness center was open 24/7. We were up at 4:45am to work out. It took until 6am to get the room open, too late to use. Terrible way to start the day. Very bright and very kind girl tried helping until a "manager" who never introduced himself arrived and got it fixed. First he walked right past us without a word, turned his office lights on. Then he turned the lobby tv on. Then he went into a back room. Then he spoke with the girl. Then at some point acknowledged us. He did a lot before the greeting and apology that never happened. How anyone let alone a manager doesn't walk into the lobby make eye contact and begin with an apology is beyond our understanding. The front line team needs to train the managers here about hospitality. You may have managers but we didn't encounter any leaders. Registration with the same manager also frustrating and unfriendly. A less than one star experience but the great service provided by the non-managers is why I will give two stars. Outdoor pool needs to be covered before someone climbs the small fence and falls into what water is still there. Nice dinner but employee, not server, kept opening and closing blinds which greatly detracted from the ambiance. Christian pop music and scripture readings while eating breakfast. You are a hotel and something neutral would be more appropriate. Very nicely appointed rooms with modern furniture and comfortable bed. Such large grounds and several buildings to care for so I imagine with low occupancy (11 guests last night according to one employee) you could go out of business soon or just get by because there are very few other choices in this town. I'm sure this property could be saved and even thrive but that would involve replacing managers with leaders, promoting your current all-stars, dedicate all of your efforts on training (by the new leaders) and then market and rebrand beginning with the hotel name. It's a cliche and doesn't accurately reflect what you are. read more
