I paid them 1k, then Pioneer moving company (which I didn't have a clue was showing up) another 1K (after he added almost 500 in fees at pick up AND NEVER HEARD BACK FROM HIM AGAIN), to the 650 I had to pay the guy at delivery that showed up with my vintage mirror broken. He told me I had to call the person THAT HAS NEVER RESPONDED AFTER PICKING MY THINGS UP, to file a claim. BS to this company and the other. BY THE WAY... Most horrible experience ever with a company! DO NO USE! My move was cancelled by United American Moving the day in the late afternoon of the scheduled move day and leaving me in a crisis move situation the night before a house closing. I contracted with United American Moving to coordinate the move of goods and furniture from Idaho to Pennsylvania. The customer service person seemed nice and the price was reasonable, so I chose to go with the movers instead of arranging to rent a truck and move myself. He actually convinced me that is was better to trust them to help with the move and that the $2000 would be cheaper than renting a truck and moving myself. That made sense at the time when I did the math. How untrue did that turn out to be! Due to being put into a last minute crisis move situation, we ended up paying over $8000! How United American Moving company handled this was utterly ridiculous. I asked for an alternate move date, when they could pick up my stuff since they said the last minute cancellation was due to a truck break down. They told me the had no trucks and would not have any trucks anytime that summer. All they would do is refund my deposit. The customer service was very unhelpful and would take NO responsibility for abiding by our contract. So basically if you sign a contract with them, it only means YOU can't cancel with them but they are free to cancel with no responsibility to help you whatsoever! They give me a number for a local moving company - which I could have looked up in the phone book. They did not research regarding this company, nor did they arrange anything or help me. Then spoke to Alex 2 days before the move that told me id have to pay 1300 more for the listed items or remove stuff. This company has a pretty consistent scam going on according to all the reviews. I just wish I would have read them before my 2 daughters gave them a $750 deposit of their hard earned money for a move from Detroit to Seattle. The remaining balance of $1100 was due after the move. All out of their meager pockets as they try to start off their lives as young professionals. One week before the move date they called to confirm and said the price increased by $1300 even though the inventory list did not change. They obviously do this because they know you are backed against a wall and have to move. DO NOT USE! They sold my move to Trans Van Lines, a company with an F rating on the Better Business Bureau. The entire move was the worst experience I have ever had. The movers came and loaded all my items onto the truck, then demanded an extra $600+ dollars to complete the pickup, or they would charge me an $250 unloading fee and cancel the contract, all well knowing I had to be out of my condo that day. They then broke all of my plates and lost my bookshelf, and the delivery driver tried to scam me just as much as the pickup driver, but knowing the seediness of the company at this point, I had the contract as proof that the extra fees he demanded were not part of the contract and were not fees that the company charges - a fee for having to use an elevator to move my stuff?! Like many other reviews out there, I would give this company zero stars if I could. I must believe that the 5 star reviews are fake because with how unorganized and terrible this company was to work with I find it hard to believe that anyone has had a good experience with this company. I think everyone is aware that working with moving companies are the worst experience anyone ever has, but there is a bad expereince and then there is United American Moving. This company completely ripped me off and then when I tried to contact the sales person who ripped me off, he would not respond to any contact I made (I tried roughly 10 times). Also, they don't actually tell you anything about the move - this is a moving broker, not a moving company, and they don't share with you the name of the moving company that will actually be moving all of your valuable belongings (in my case it was a company with an F rating on BBB who lost/ stole a decent amount of my most valuable posestions and damaged a lot of my furniture). UAM is SCAM! Stay far away from this company if you value your sanity and belongings. We called them about a month before our move and spoke to BRETT he quoted us $1800 for the move with military discounts. He spoke quickly on the phone and pressured us into going with this company. Moving day came and went. The moving company called me and said that they would be here a day early which was fine, that day came and went. Two days passed before the actual movers came. UAM is not a moving company but a broker whom sells your contract to a moving company that comes and gets your belongings. When the movers arrived they appeared shocked at how much stuff we had since UAM severely under quoted the cubic feet of stuff that we had. The moving company went so far as to say that this is why they don't use contracts from UAM. After the movers reassessed how much stuff we had we now had a new quote of almost 6k to move our stuff from VA to TX we were shocked and appalled but had no choice but to use them since they came so late picking our stuff up. UAM has several complaints from the Florida attorney general regarding their practices. I had to file a dispute for the charges and make it so that UAM could no longer have access to my bank account. I wish I would of read the reviews first. They are spot on. How does this company continue to operate? The initial phone call with David Smith-probably not his real name-was pleasant and professional. I succumbed to the pressure tactic and gave him $700 for a deposit. I never heard from him again even after repeated attempts. They called one day before scheduled pick up to ask if I had any additional items. I said I had 3 additional boxes, a rug and a cooler. The said that would be an additional $700 to add to the move. Forget it. Moving day comes and they are 3 hrs late. I was told by their representative Thomas that it would be stored in Seattle and could be easily delivered. This company completely bait and switched me. It started with Grant telling me that he could move my 1 bedroom apartment for under $2000 (actually $1700 quote). After already giving a $650 deposit, Jordan was the first to bate and switch by telling me that the measurements of my storage unit was off (only by telephone, sight unseen) and my quote doubled to $3300 and he asked for an additional $750 deposit. He assured me that I would only pay for the cubic feet used though, so I went with that. Throughout these conversations with both Grant and Jordan, myself and my family consistently asked the following: "are the people picking up the ones who will be doing the driving and drop off" "will it be taken with other peoples shipments" and "will it be arriving the weekend following pickup as anticipated." Both Grant and Jordan assured me that the people picking up would be the ones doing the driving and drop off, my shipment would not be with others, and it would be arriving the Friday, Saturday, or Sunday requested. Well moving day comes along and they don't show up on the designated day, but rather call late in the day to say the backup date (the next day) would be pick up. Back up day comes and they are late again. When they finally show up it is a couple of middle men with a budget rental truck. They inform us of an extra charge because of walking an additional 75 ft (which was expected), but they also informed us that my shipment was going to a warehouse, would held there, then shipped with other items, and that it would take 14-21 business days (none of which was laid out in my contract). Because I needed my belongings to arrive by that designated weekend, we sent the movers away and are currently uhauling my belongings myself. In addition, I spoke with the supervisor Jaime after numerous unpleasant conversations with customer service. Although Jaime was kind, she would not refund my deposit. I am not an unreasonable person and asked for a partial refund, maybe of just the second deposit, due to the gross lack of communication and inaccuracy of the contract. Still, they would not refund my deposit. Now I am in the process of deciding on next steps to recover full are partial funds. Moral of the story, don't use this company unless you want to give an arm and a leg more than anticipated. read more

My daughter was moving from Cincinatti to New York. She had a one bedroom apartment. The contract she signed was for $1700 . Every time she called to confirm the move there was a small amount that she was required to pay. She could not cancel as she would lose a $900 deposit. They finally showed up and charged her additional amount for fuel surcharge (fuel is at an all time low), and other truck charges, She called me in tears as her bill is now $3800. There's nothing we can do but pay it. This is heart breaking to be helpless and not be able comfort your child. This is an update. I'm trying to help others who were scammed by these moving brokers. I finally received my full refund, not without a fight though. Here's what I did: I sent emails to local news stations in the Broward county area, and I searched Broward county public records for the Registered Owner of United American Moving (they also operate under other names, I.e., Razor Movers), I began on line small claims court forms requesting pre-judgment statutory interest owed on my deposit, punitive damages for outrageous conduct and business practices, court fees. I did notify the company via email and let them know I had the name of the owner and would be serving them. A couple weeks later, I received a check minus their 10% fee, but no! I wasn't accepting anything but a full refund they had promised. More emails with case file number, to show them I wasn't playing around anymore, and I finally received my balance. I'm hoping this information and steps I took will help others. read more

I put down a 1/3 downpayment (signed electronically) and subsequently (in minutes) my contract disappeared, I was told to contact customer service to get a copy, I did and no contract, no contact, no callback, I was just forwarded to voice mail. JP, the aggressive, voracious sales-person, vanished as well. The actual moving company didn't show up, on the date assigned (not their fault), and when they did a week later we were told by the movers that JP Hernandez of United American Moving gave us an illegitimate estimate. The movers, now on my premise, estimated and the real price was 3 times higher. The mover also stated that his company (legitimate) had nothing to do with United American Moving. My bank is now investigating them. I've contacted Florida's Attorney General and have gone to the Better Business Bureau. United American Moving is not accredited. If I could give this company a negative 100 I would. Somehow they got my boyfriend's contact info when he requested a quote from United Van Lines and tricked him into thinking they were with them. The lady named Kim Davis lied several times to get him to agree. She made it seem like such a good deal but when it came time for the actual move, everything fell apart. We were told the movers would pack everything for us. They were not told this. So when they showed up, we had to shell out another 2500 to have them pack because we didn't have a choice really. We were leaving the next day. Thankfully the movers were very nice and didn't complain. They were very helpful but they were with a completely different company. Then, the guy who was supposed to pick up my car, said he could get it on the 2nd if June. When that day came, no one showed up and he was very hard to reach. When he finally called us back he claimed he never said he could get it on the 2nd but he said he could get it on the 2nd or 3rd. We were upset but we were also fine with that. Well, when the 3rd came around, no one showed up and he was hard to reach once again. When we finally heard from him he told my boyfriend that he didn't know when he could get it. Great. We were heading down to Florida the very next day. So we ended up leaving my car at a friend's house. Today, I finally got my car. Almost two weeks later. This guy is horrible at running a business and doesn't keep his word. He also suggested that I leave my key fab in my car so they could get it!! Like what? Are you trying to get my car stolen sir? United American Moving moved us from IL to WI (about 180 miles). I provided an accurate inventory and the price was about $1700. Two days before the move I updated the inventory with a few extra items and the price went to about $1800 which I agreed to. When they came to pick up my items and had loaded about 80% of them, they told me that the new price was more than $3000 for the same items that were listed in the inventory and if I did not pay them that new amount then they would unload the truck and not move us. Also, they refused to load a bookcase and a futon that were listed on the inventory. I tried to discuss the issue with United American Moving multiple times, but they did not provide any help. Since I was starting a new job in two days, I had no choice but to pay the difference. I continued trying to receive help from United American many times by phone, mail, and email but they refused to answer. Do not trust this company because they do not respect the contract. They do not follow what is written in the contract and they are just interested in extorting more money from clients when they are desperate. FRAUD, MISLEADING, RUDE !!! I have never ever written a bad review for anything, but they were horrible. Many things went wrong when I moved with these guys (I will not call them a "company" because that term have some dignity and these people don't). These are just brokers who play in between game with you and the actual moving company. 1. The guy on the phone (Archie) lied to me about the estimate to get my contract. On the basis of my inventory, he made an estimate of around $1800 with some verbal drama of saying that he has added space for little more. The actual cost that I had to pay, on the basis of my exact (I mean EXACT) original inventory, was around $2500. 2. I clearly told Archie that my destination neighborhood may not accommodate large truck..as his usual misleading way, he said it won't be a problem as my stuff is not that much and a smaller truck will be used. Guess what !! the moving company brought a large truck and I had to pay $250 extra (total around $2800 instead of $1800 that were told to me). 3. Archie told me that my stuff will take around 3 days to transfer. So, I booked my air tickets according to that. The stuff took 5-6 days and my family had to live without anything. 4. If you try to call Archie after you have signed the contract, the customer service will intervene and will be thoroughly rude to you. 5. They had no clue about the pick-up date and time as well delivery date and time until the actual day when it happened. After I signed the contract, I got a slightly better offer from another company (in less than an hour). I stuck with them to honor my deal even though I could have legally cancelled the contract. I guess they are not deserving of the honorable deals. So, if you want your peace of mind to be obliterated while moving, end up paying way more than what you are told and be deceived by a group of individuals, this is the right choice for you. I am a student and have a tight budget and schedule. I really wished I had time and resources to sue them. What a scam...called looking for moving quotes-they really pressure you into booking with them ASAP. Booked with them because it was within my budget. The guy who took a list of inventory clearly wasnt accurate because when another person called to take a detailed list, my quote quickly DOUBLED in price. Now, 3 days out from my scheduled move-the carrier company calls me and says they have to pick up my things tomorrow in order for it to be delivered on time. TERRIBLE!! DO NOT USE!! I needed to move 8 items from my dads house in West Virginia to my home in NJ. The items had to be moved in a very small window because we had to drive to WV (7 hours) on Saturday night 10/5 and then turn around and come right back Monday morning 10/7. I was on google to rent a U Haul when I saw the moving company ad and thought wow that would be so much easier. I entered my info to request a quote and before I got off the website my phone started ringing. I didn't answer the first two times but they kept hitting redial so I answered. I explained my situation to Eric and he said "no problem, we can help you". Granted they were odd items but when I requested the quote I told them they were commercial, i.e. two ATV's, a riding lawn mower, a planer, a hutch, a dresser, a chest freezer and a wooden chest. I estimated the sizes because I was in NJ. The items were in WV. The quote was $2600 for 8 items. That was more than I was willing to pay so I was going to go with the U Haul. Before I could get downstairs to tell my husband, they called back and said that they had a cancellation in that area and would rather have my business than a partially empty truck. The quote was 1880. I figured OK and signed the contract on 10-1-19 and paid 635 downpayment. WHAT A MISTAKE. On 10/4/19 I received a call from Jordan who said that the items were miscalcuated and because they were "bulky" they had to charge more. He gave me an estimate of 2342. I said I could not afford that and said I wanted to cancel. He said because I booked within 7 days of the move I would forfeit my deposit. So I said fine but I was not paying more than 1880 so he said that they would put as much as they could in the 430 cubic feet on my estimate. On Friday evening and Saturday I was contacted numerous times to see if they could do the pickup. I explained numerous times that I was in NJ and would not be in WV until 11 am Sunday. Soooo Sunday comes, it is pouring rain, the moving truck arrives and when he opens the back, there is "MAYBE" 6 feet of space on the back of the truck. I said my stuff is not going to fit in there. I showed him what needed to be moved and he just kept shaking his head. He said that my items list said 2 motorcycles, not ATV's and the other items were too big. (I repeatedly said "ATV or quadrunner when describing the items to multiple people) I said forget it. He said he would take 3 of the items for 2300.. I said no. I tried calling United American and got voicemail 3x. The driver got in his truck and then started honking the horn for me to come over (still pouring rain) rolls down his window and said he would take the 3 items for 2200. I said no. He said if you rent a U Haul you will have to pay a lot more than having them do it and I would have to load it myself and stop and pay at weigh stations. (I found out at U Haul that is not true). Finally he hits the gas a flies out of the drive way. I felt like I was lied to from the minute I got on the phone. The first guy did not write my items down correctly (ATV vs motorcycles), and they tried to increase the price before they ever got there. I am out $635.00. The 15 foot U Haul cost $414.00 and $120 for gas. It took us 2 hours to load the items on the truck. LESSON LEARNED!!! This company contracted out to others and never gave them the correct list. Once you sign they do not care. If you can do it yourself, do it. If not, use a well respected company. READ THE FINE PRINT ON THE CONTRACT, make sure your items are listed correctly and if possible measure the items. BUT.......DON'T USE UNITED AMERICAN MOVING. United American Moving contracted MoveSmart & Storage to move us. They put October 15, 2020 as an arrival date. That came and went. Was told by United American Movers that the arrival could take up to another 21 business days to arrive. That came and went. Was then told November 30th. That came and went. United American Movers then said they lost contact with MoveSmart/Jason Pacheco (owner). Was advised to file a claim and police report. Filed a claim against MoveSmart but claim was transferred to United American Moving. Filed police report. Today is Dec 22, 2020... No communication. No furniture and no belongings. How can a company be so callous? How can a company still be in business. Hey United American Moving - you owe me a job. I'll drastically improve 1) your logistics nightmare and 2) your abysmal customer service. $30,000/year with benefits. Part-time, 20 hrs a week working from home and a $10,000 raise every month with diminishing work hours. Oh, I'll take stock options too. (Your stock is worthless, but since there's a toilet paper shortage, we can use those to wipe our butts.) Sound like a contract we entered in February? I would appreciate a response. We moved from WI to AZ, and had high hopes in your ability to make that happen. I'm an Air Force brat and moved more times than I care to count.
