One of the most horrible experiences I have ever had. These people are liars and completely lack customer service skills. They don't communicate with their customers once they have the money. The amount of the move will continue to climb throughout the process. They lied about when the movers would arrive and when they would be dropping off our belongings. They lied about the cost, they lied about the discount they promised us, and they lied about reassembling the items they took apart upon pick-up. They make the already stressful moving experience almost unbearable. They are supposed to make things easier but they don't at all. They make things much harder because once they have your money, they completely stop all lines of communication. This company is not comprised of movers #1...they are a broker for movers. Independent contractors arrive at your house and take your belongings to a holding place, where your things will sit indefinitely until they can fill a truck with other households. What was supposed to arrive in 7 days took 3 weeks....with no communication about this process prior to pickup! The movers were 2.5 days late. There was no communication about the tardiness from United American. They didn't even call to let us know the movers weren't showing up on the second day. I had to call them and then wait for the "service manager" to call the driver to find out what was going on. We waited in our empty house with no electricity only to find out the movers would not arrive till the next day. She promised they would give us a 45 minute heads up before arrival...which they did not. She promised a $200 refund for the lack of communication, $100 from United Movers, and $100 off of the pick-up amount. Lies! I had to call and ask many times to get the $100 from American United and the movers had no idea about the discount when they finally arrived, without any communication before they finally got to our house. Jordan is a customer service guy that will call a week prior to the supposed arrival date of your movers to get your stuff. He is rude and tactless and insists that you pay $1000 more immediately or he will cancel your movers and you will lose the deposit you already put down. He doesn't say anything about the process, waiting up to 30 days to get your belongings, and just goes along with what the original salesman sells you when you first call the company. LIES about getting your stuff in 7-10 days after pickup! He doesn't give you time to read the contract, saying he just doesn't have time to wait for you because he has so many other customers waiting to hear from him. He never will answer the phone again even though he tells you to call if you have any questions or changes. He was the absolute worst!!! If possible, I would advise against using United for your moving services. All of the testimonies on here are an accurate depiction of the scheme they use routinely to swindle you out of money. You will not have your items moved for the price they "guarantee" you. If you decide to proceed with them, carefully read the contract and understand what services they offer, not what they tell you over the phone they will do. If you still proceed with them, use a credit card and do not wire them the "deposit", that way you can at least fight the charges. 90% of the verbiage on the contract is there to protect them, from consumers getting refunds to avoiding negative reviews. I spoke to Brett regarding my interstate moving needs, and after I was worked up for a quote, he was pressuring me to sign and commit to their company immediately. I mentioned that I needed to speak with my husband, and get some competing quotes, and he began to berate me, saying I didn't respect or appreciate the time he spent on my quote, and that I wouldn't be able to move on time now that I didn't sign with him. This is a long post and somewhat of an investigative review about how Razor and many other brokers scam consumers. It exceeds the character limit so the balance of the review is in photos attached. It is an awareness piece, and I was tipped off to how this works by reading some one star reviews. I must preface this by saying I never used Razor Van Lines and feel fortunate I dodged that bullet, here's why; Something I've learned is that when you go to those websites where you submit your information to have moving companies bid on your move, that is where most scam moving BROKERS hang out. They are fed leads from these websites and that is usually how they darken your door. One such company I received a call from was Razor Van Lines. THE LIE: Right out of the gate, the individual I spoke to opened with a lie. John told me "we are one of the largest military movers in the country". THE FACT: This a is a completely false statement. Being a member of the DOD, I checked the list of approved movers and brokers and Razor Van lines IS NOT an approved carrier. The very first sentence out of Johns mouth to me was a complete lie! The very first red flag for me was that their quote and estimated cubic footage for the move was significantly lower than others (about half) as were their storage rates. I would later learn after some research this is most likely the beginning of a "hostage load" and while my possessions weren't held hostage, there are plenty of reviews on here that did have this happen. Quick summary, the BROKER (Razor) significantly under estimates your load making the rates sound like a steal. When the actual moving company shows up they say the estimate is completely wrong, they take your items and they don't give them back until you pay them. This is a common tow company scam too. The "deposit" that the broker will take up front is their "commission" and good luck getting that back. The balance due afterwards is between you and the moving company they brokered it out to and the broker (RAZOR) is free and clear with your deposit. As we talked for quite a lengthy period of time, I started to notice some holes in Johns story, for example; THE LIE: They say if you use an e-check you won't have to worry about being charged 5-10% more by your credit card company. I inquired about this fee and was told its an "essential business surcharge" as a result of the COVID crisis. John stated RAZOR DOES NOT charge this but the credit card company does. When I poked a little more, he put me on hold for 5 seconds, came back and said the surcharge will be waived if I wanted to use a credit card. Note that he said the CREDIT CARD COMPANY charges this, but he talked to his manager and waived it? Hmmm....sounds suspicious. THE FACT: After I got off the phone with him (and DID NOT put down a deposit) I called the credit card company and they said they'd never heard of an "Essential business surcharge". This has been proven a lie and it's very obvious that they try to dissuade you from using a credit card as I'm sure it's a headache for them to deal with disputes. I would NEVER give these people cash, because if you do, it's as good as gone. THE LIE: John stated that they have partnered with T-Mobile, Sprint, ATT and Verizon to offer further discounts. THE FACT: Being a T-Mobile customer, I looked into this further and have not been able to identify any such partnership. I believe they name drop large company names to make them sound more legit. I cannot say with 100% certainty that this partnership does not exist, but I will alert T-Mobile corporate communications of this claim so they can confirm or deny this. THE LIE: I asked John if the moving truck would be a third party. He said that while they do broker some moves, they also have their own fleet of trucks and he actually GUARANTEED that the truck moving my stuff would be one of theirs. THE FACT: This was the biggest lie of them all and here is proof why....in the quote they send you it states the following: "5. AS A PROPERLY LICENSED INTERSTATE MOVING COORDINATOR/SHIPPER AGENT/BROKER, RAZOR VAN LINES IS NOT A MOTOR CARRIER AND WILL NOT TRANSPORT AN INDIVIDUAL CUSTOMER/SHIPPER HOUSEHOLD GOODS, BUT WILL COORDINATE AND ARRANGE FOR THE TRANSPORTATION OF HOUSEHOLD GOODS BY ANY FMCSA AUTHORIZED MOTOR CARRIER" So while John GUARANTEED that their truck would be moving it, their contract specifically states they WILL NOT. After we got a quote from them and signed a contract, they raised the price significantly just before the pick-up date and then again on the pick-up date saying that the other guys did not accurately estimate the quantity of goods to be moved. I noticed a 10% service fee would be charged on their 72 hour full refund policy upon signing, and upon bringing this up, he repeatedly claimed that I would receive a full refund. LUCKILY I finally found United American Moving's real yelp page and after reading through the yelp reviews and seeing how this company wouldn't uphold refunds without the 10% fee I refused to sign the contract. Before cancelling, John transferred me to his manager and subsequently her manager. The final manager tried again to push me towards taking the "72 hour grace period", and after I told him I wanted to cancel and receive my deposit back he ended the call abruptly. I sent an email after asking for a written receipt of the refund and I got no reply. Regarding the Refund - It took 19 days and multiple followup calls to customer service from the time of my cancellation to receiving a partial refund. I was charged a processing fee which was less than the 10% fee, and after asking Binah about it, she essentially said that I was lucky they charged less than the 10% fee. -5 Stars! Run fast in the other direction!! United American Moving provided great service when signing me up with a contract to place a partial load on a moving van from Michigan to Massachusetts. Once the contract was signed, things fell apart. UAM turned my business over to its "sister company" American Home Relocation. AHR contracted the work out to independent drivers who used rental trucks. When these workers arrived, business cards and identification were not provided. Schedules were not maintained. Nobody was able to tell me the location of my belongings from 7/31/19 to 8/18/19. Both loading and unloading were done in the dark. No bar codes were placed on boxes as stated when signing up. Transactions were in cash with no receipts provided. A desk leg was unattached upon arrival. I had to ASK several times for them to put items including my bed back to original state. Furniture and boxes were lost. Disassembled items were not put back together upon delivery (the contract stated this would be done). I tried repeatedly to talk to the supervisor Jamie in United American Moving Customer Support. The office staff members were very creative in saying why she was unavailable to talk to me; I also was disconnected on numerous occasions. When I managed to speak with someone in a dispatch office, the background noise was very loud and dogs were barking-- making it difficult to hear. I would received conflicting information. The carrier people came on Saturday 1/25/2020 instead of Wednesday/Thursday and picked up my stuff. 1. I spent 3 hours with you on the phone on 1/20/2020 with a tape in my hand and you came up with roughly 385 cu feet. The carrier guys told me an incorrect estimate has been given and the exact same stuff will take 785 cu. feet instead of 385 cu feet. What am I missing here?? I had no option as they came on Saturday instead of Wednesday/Thursday and I had to vacate my apartment that day, so I paid them whatever they asked me to based on per their new estimate which is close to $5120 instead of the original $2986. On top of this they charged me for the packing materials as well for the big items like couch, bed, etc which was again not supposed to be. For the stairs also, they charged me some $450 whereas I was supposed to pay only $75 as Ty had mentioned for 12 extra stairs (first 21 stairs are free). 2. They guaranteed me a two day delivery, and then, the day of the move, the driver told me 15 days. They refused to refund my money. Jerry, the salesman, lied to me, Briana, the sales assistant, withheld the vital 7-15 business day delivery time, and Jaime, the manager defended their dishonest business practices. These people are bloodsuckers. I chose to let them keep my money and drive my items to the destination myself. My biggest regret is that I didn't check YELP before I paid them. This company scammed me out of $1775.00. as an ACH draft. I was told I would have white glove service and that everything in my mother's house would be itemized via iPad. This was just the deposit amount. My service was to also include pick up and delivery of a 1974 Buick La Saber (of which I was never contacted) and for my mothers furniture to be delivered to a climate controlled storage in NC. I booked with an agent named Chase on May 14, 2019 for a move on July 15, 2019. I was moving our 3 bedroom house from San Diego Ca to Durham North Carolina and after shopping 4 carriers United seemed to be the best deal. At first I thought I was getting a real good deal because out of the 4 carriers I was between United American Moving had been the lowest price and agent named Chase walked me through the entire process and did a detail work on my inventory and at the end of the day it looked like he saved me over 10,000 dollars. The DAY of the move was a nightmare. Something that I have read reviews on and heard horror stories and something I was trying to avoid. Little did I know that United American Moving was a BROKER!!! They never told me that so when the different moving company came down to my house and while my entire house was boxed up and 80 percent of it was on my lawn getting ready to be picked up I learned that I was quoted the WRONG amount. Instead of me paying just under 7,000 I now had a bill of 19,000!! The reason it was so high was because rookie Chase who had been with the company for just a few days who was so nice and willing to work with his customers gave the wrong quote on Cubic feet. Instead of charging the 5.0 he charged me 3.24 which is why the quote was so low. The driver told me I should have been charged the 5.0 which is why it brought me to such a high quote which was very similar to the other carriers I was looking at in the first place. The driver told me if he charged me the wrong 3.25 per cubic feet based on my inventory I would have been about 11,000 which I was willing to pay since they were already at my house and my stuff was outside ready to go and I was getting on an airplane to move from San Diego Ca to Durham NC in 5 days. I called the owner Dan who did refund me the 2450 I paid as a down payment but it never solved my issue. He told me he already gave back "the skin he had in the game" and that he could help me find another carrier. I told him my stuff is on my lawn and I leave for North Carolina in 5 days and that it would be impossible to find another carrier leaving me no choice but to pay the 19,000. Dan the owner is the quality assurance guy as well who reviewed the quote the day BEFORE the move and on the MOVE day and he failed to see that one of his employees low balled me big time from 2 months ago. I have all the documents to prove it. After the move I have emailed and called the company and of course NO response at all. I am in the process of seeking legal action. I have all the emails, quotes, documents, and text messages to prove I was scammed. Once they get charged for booking, they will increase significantly the amount and even your moving date. They tell you "your couch is oversized, additional items includes etc.". When I initially spoke with Mitchell, we briefly went over my inventory list of items that I would be moving, including dimensions of the furniture items and assumed 15-20 large boxes as I did not have everything packed at that point. He gave me a quote for $1471 and told me that this was the absolute lowest they could go for a move of over 1000 miles. I agreed to this price as I knew it was not going to be as simple as moving around the block. I was then forwarded to a customer service agent to process a $500 non-refundable deposit. When going over the contract I noticed that they had shown only (1) box on their inventory list when Mitchell and I had discussed including 15-20 large boxes in order to accommodate some additional space. I was told by the representative that it was standard to log it into their system like that. So I assumed they had accommodated the correct amount of space in my quote and paid the deposit. A few days later I was contacted by Chase to schedule a call in order to finalize my inventory list and again make sure they had enough space allocated on the truck for my items. On the call with Chase, he pointed out that they had allocated space for (1) large box. I had argued stating that I told Mitchell 20 large boxes should be enough. But they did not have that input into their system and so the additional space for the boxes would cost me an extra $1600! Upon going over the rest of my items, I gave dimensions for everything, my mattress, reclining chair, shelving unit, desk, bike, golf clubs, skis, snowboard, TV, bookshelf and the assumption of 20 large (18x18x18) boxes. On moving day, the company showed up and starting loading everything. During this time I found out that they were not the same company as United American Moving, but they used them as their broker. So this was the first time I was in contact with the ACTUAL moving company. As they loaded my items they broke down my desk and reclining chair so they would not take up as much space as I had measured when discussing inventory with Chase. I also had only a couple large boxes and much more smaller boxes. Once they completed loading my items in the truck, they told me that the space I took up was ANOTHER 100 cu. ft. and it would cost me an additional $500. This truly angered me as I had given dimensions for everything that I had and less space in boxes than the (20) large ones they had accounted for. The inability to accurately calculate space on the truck even after giving dimensions for everything spoke volumes for the incompetence of this company. When the truck arrived after me calling them day after day to figure out where my stuff was, they had lost my reclining chair, snowboard, a box with all of my shoes, and a basket with all of my hats. They also had lost the shelves to my bookshelf! When I called to make a claim, they directed me to a claim company and to the moving company they were the broker for. So they take no responsibility for anything beyond taking your money and incorrectly calculating how much it would cost me to move. I realize that moving a long distance is complicated and there can be a lot of moving parts, but I would not recommend using this company as they seem disorganized and unhelpful. I would have appreciated knowing up front that it would cost me $3000 to use them rather than the $1471 they originally quoted me. They did not seem to care that I had missing items and did everything to direct me away from them and to the company that they were supposed to be working with. Use United American Moving for all your moving needs! It was very easy to schedule a pick up time and their customer service was excellent, very polite and helpful! The crew was very careful, easy to work with and they showed up on time. They put my items in their proper locations in my new apartment unlike other companies I used in the past who dumped everything in the living room. DO NOT USE THIS BROKERAGE AT ANY COST. If I could give them zero stars, I would. This place was an absolute nightmare for my cross country move (1,400 miles). First off, the present themselves as a moving COMPANY but they are a moving BROKERAGE. There is a big difference and you should do more research if you are unsure between the two. It will save you a lot of hassle. My original quote was for $1,800. Michael, the sales agent, called, we talked and went over inventory. At first, I gave him the benefit of the doubt. He "forgot" a few things on the original quote and when I went to put down the deposit, a few things needed to be added. It cost me an extra $300 but I thought I would be good after that. A few weeks later, their primary guy (forgot his name at the moment) called to confirm inventory. We went over my inventory in detail. When all was said & done, my "new" price went from $2,100 and change to darn near $3,900. On top of that, he gave me an ultimatum that I could either pay the extra $1,200 in deposit ($2,200 in total) in that to "lock in" that price or if I waited until the next week for the movers to show up, it would be "double" the price. He gave me absolutely no time to think about and forced my hand. He also informed me that despite his sales agent clearly lying about the inventory and purposely miscalculating size that it was more of my fault (the customer) than his own sales agent. Not knowing any better, I agreed to the extra $1,200 deposit. I didn't have time to find new movers and spent another $3,500 in 5 days to find a new company. They also told me that none of my deposit would be refunded if I backed out, even within their 72 hour window after they charged me an extra $1,200 in deposits. The next week, the movers showed up. Yes, the actual moving company who was packing my stuff up and taking it half way across the country. Upon arrival, he presented me with the wrong invoice. I showed him the most recent one and right away, he called his manager. Long story short, United took damn near $2,200 in "deposits" and left the moving company with less than $1,600 to actually do the 1,400 mile move. Their way out of it was to send the actual moving company an old invoice and then try to fight about it via phone once the movers showed up. After an hour of them fighting back & forth & United hanging up on ME twice, they told the moving company to leave and that they would have another one out the same day. It wasn't the same day, it was the next day. The next moving company came and moved everything without much of an issue. Due to another FALSE estimate the week prior, I ended up having to pay another $700 to the moving company itself. So, here's what I learned and why you should NEVER use this place: - United is a brokerage that is only allowed to take a certain portion for a deposit. All they are doing is being paid to line up movers. THAT'S IT. - If you go straight through a moving company, they will come out & give you an actual estimate. That way there's no surprises along the way. - Most brokerages are out of Florida. The reason they are out of Florida is because they can still legally get away with this stuff. - United has told multiple moving companies they are going to change their name AGAIN soon and that they aren't worried about legal repercussions. - If the price seems too good to be true, it's because it is. Long story short, United American Movers is a fraudulent company that is a brokerage and not a moving company. They'll leach every cent out of you, then screw you and the moving company in the process. read more

in the past I've had horrible encounters with movers, aside from price I've had to deal with movers who were careless in handling some of my belongings, to movers being too comfortable in the work space either way I had to go out and find another pricey and mediocre movers company. I found UAM on Facebook and was initially happy about the price but now that my move is done and over with I'm left even happier with just how easy and professional everything was! Horrible Service. Moved from Hillsboro Oregon to Texas. They informed me that they will pick up the stuff between 4 pm to 6 pm but landed up@12 am. when delivered boxes were torn, lost office chair, floor lamp parts, hardware for coffee table and side table, lost utensils kept in box, lost few dress kept in box. My move cost me 1 1/2 times my quote (which I was told was estimated high to avoid surprises). This didn't include losses. My delivery was 2 weeks later than last day of estimate. They handed off my move to a 2nd party (a surprise to me) and about $5000 worth of belongs were damaged or lost. When filing a claim the system could not recognize the name of the moving company that was clearly printed on my paperwork. I received no contact or reimbursement for my loss. So, a $1500 estimated move cost me approximately $7000. I wouldn't trust a word or agreement they offer. read more

I have moved 12 times over the years, and my experience with United American was by far the worst. An original inventory estimate came to roughly $3800. Then I had a follow-up call, and was told the 1st inventory was not accurate or correct, so the price rose to $5711.43 with an Estimated Volume: 981 cf. (6867 lbs). When it was all said and done, I spent $6,646.50. They do not count by weight, but by cubic feet; which is total $hit. This was for a 294-mile move. An exact move I made 4 years prior with United Van Lines that was $3100. I also fully loaded up a 6x12 trailer with a quarter of my inventory, yet at the destination, my price increased yet again. United American is NOT a moving company but a moving BROKER. They outsourced to a company named Out of State Moving Services. The communication of when I would receive my furniture was absurd. I was told no one knew my delivery window and it would not be known until 24 hours in advance. I could not get "Out of State Moving Services" on the phone, but of course, United American could b/c they make them a lot of money. Go someplace else. We were completely robbed and taken advantage of. I don't care what the other ratings say. Take your business to a reputable company like United Van Lines. read more

A complete joke of a company, did not once ask for the dimensions of my products, and then increased my price double when they arrived stating my items were bigger than I stated. If you are moving I recommend walking your items to your location vs. using this company. When I tried to contact customer service I got a consistent round about, on how they were waiting on the paperwork to see what was truly loaded and that my "large" boxes were really "extra large" boxes...however NO WHERE on my estimate does it state the dimensions of what the difference is. Huge mistake on my part for not going with a different, and honest provider. read more

Highly recommend this moving company! They got to my apartment when they said they would and got everything done quickly. I told them to be extra careful when moving my expensive table and they took extra caution to make sure everything was properly secured and packaged. Would definitely use again. read more

If I could leave negative stars I would. If you want a very stressful unpleasant moving experience then this is the company for you. We went with United American Moving after receiving multiple quotes for our move. In the beginning we were happy with the service we were receiving but about a week after signing the contract and putting down our deposit Jordan called to tell us that our move would require an additional $1000 deposit because we were mis-quoted; in that one phone call our quote went from $2530 to $4400 almost double the original amount. Jordan has no customer service skills, was rude to me on the phone including raising his voice because he heard my children in the background and stated that he needed to to make sure I heard him... ummm no I could hear you just fine. He also told me that maybe he should just work with my husband because I was being unreasonably upset about the increase. Since we had already signed the contract and put money down we had no choice but to go with the increased amount or lose the original $1250. I requested to speak with Jordan's manager but he apparently thinks that he is the boss because he told me that he doesn't answer to anyone but the owner who doesn't have a number to call. Fast Forward to me calling customer service I spoke with a supervisor by the name of Jamie. Jamie was very helpful and listened to my concerns. She stated that she would speak with Jordan and call me back to explain the increase a little more and see if there was something that could be worked out; I have been waiting almost 2 months for that call back. There have been multiple issues with this move and I have had to call in numerous times and the customer service has almost always been non-existent with some reps being downright rude. I have worked in customer service for many years and have never treated anyone the way I have been treated. Now that our stuff has been picked up and is on a moving truck headed our way our quoted price has once again gone up by almost another $750. How does the estimated price go up when we got rid of all of the big pieces of furniture and cleared out roughly 20% of our storage unit so that it was only about 70% full versus 90%? Those numbers don't add up. The movers also didn't give us 24 hours notice of when they would be arriving so we had to scramble to get someone to our unit since we are already in a different state across the country which the movers knew and then the movers showed up an hour later then they stated they would be there. I have moved numerous times in my life some within the same state but many cross country due to work and this is the worst moving experience I have ever had. I would never recommend this company to anyone as a matter of fact I will tell everyone I know to stay as far away from them as possible. read more

Scam for sure. I was just looking around various website to get quotes on a move. Their service came up and I just wanted to see a general price estimate. They called me and immediately began with statements like "before you look at any other places just know we're good quality and service." Like I wasn't super suspicious until they had to tell me not to be. While on various holds I googled the company further and saw plenty of reviews saying they're a scam. I decided I absolutely wouldn't give them any specific information, but waited on the line to hopefully just politely tell them no thanks. After saying I wasn't ready to make any serious plans today, the operator Kim (who is the same name in the email they sent me) tried twice to get me to book today by lowering the price by hundreds of dollars if I booked on the call. (Fishy absolutely) When I refused she got some other guy on the line (David) who tried to reduce the price even more and when I tried to say thanks but no thanks he flat out started yelling at me. I said "I appreciate your time, but I'm not ready to book anything from any company today" and he started yelling something along the lines of "if I appreciated him I would just pay up." The anger and desperation of him put even more distaste in my mouth. I have not a doubt in my mind that if I'd given them any money I would not have gotten good service for anything close to a good deal. Absolutely stay away from this company. read more

We moved from NYC to Portland, OR in May 2020. Brett, the salesman who I first spoke to (https://m.facebook.com/PembrokePinesPolice/posts/1888963491116564), assured me of a few things. 1. That the movers could disassemble our couch in order to get it out of our apartment. 2. That the movers would wrap all of our framed photos and art. 3. That as long as we'd given them an accurate inventory, we would only be charged the price Brett quoted us. On the day the movers arrived to pick up our things, they told us they could not disassemble the couch (and because we'd had no notice of this, we ended up leaving it in the apartment), it had been our responsibility to wrap the framed photos and art, and that a number of items we'd CLEARLY included on the inventory list and then confirmed with a virtual walk through of our apartment, including our son's keyboard, would be subject to an extra charge. They also charged us several hundred dollars more than we'd been quoted for a "long walk" to the van and for the flights of stairs we'd been very clear about when talking to Brett. Once they picked our things up, they then delivered them to a warehouse in NJ, where they sat for a month (Brett told us delivery would take 7 to 10 days. HA!). When our things finally arrived in Oregon, many were damaged or broken altogether, and a few had simply disappeared. We were in touch with several people in customer service at United, all of whom told us there was absolutely nothing they could do to make any of this right. If you receive a call from anyone at this company about a move, run away! What seemed like a chance to save some money turned into a very expensive and heartbreaking nightmare. read more
