Nice to have an arrivals option at Heathrow to freshen up with food and showers. But note it is quite small compared to other airport arrival lounges and they close promptly at 2PM, so if you have a later arrival, do not plan on visiting this lounge. The food options were nice on the buffet including fresh juices, smoothies, cereals, yogurts. I learned after my visit that they have table cook to order options as well but I guess I was there too early right when they opened and the kitchen wasn't taking orders (yet). The shower rooms are efficient (small) but private with toilet and necessities. NOTE: this isn't available to Star Alliance Gold unless flying in Business/First Class ticket and it is strictly enforced. read more

A small lounge with a strict access policy, located just after baggage claim outside the secure area. Showers and individual toilets are clean and spacious. In the main area there's half a dozen tables and a few other seating areas. A small buffet offers a neat selection of hot and cold snacks and drinks ranging from croissants and sausage rolls to yoghurt and fruit, or smoothie drinks and a self-service coffee machine. Additionally there is a small menu to order items such as avocado toast or bacon sandwich. For those eligible to enter it's a quiet place to freshen up and grab a bite before heading to your destination. Do note, if you have a connection solely in Terminal 2, you won't be able to access this lounge without leaving the secure area and thus then having to reclear security. read more

This is exactly as advertised. It's a fast place to grab a shower and maybe a bite to eat after you land on a trans-Atlantic redeye assuming you're flying business class on United. (I guess also any other flight landing in the morning too.) It's one door to the left after you get out of customs and then they'll ask you how many showers/towels you want. The actual showers are small, but big enough for one person. We flew in with two adults and two kids once and each adult took a kid in with us. That was doable, but very tight. After the shower, there's breakfast which is about the same as any airline lounge, but maybe with a bit less protein options, but slightly higher quality fruit and pastries. Biggest downside is that you have to have a business class ticket--status doesn't do it except maybe if you're global services. read more

The arrivals lounge was just wonderful. All you need is your Polaris boarding pass for entry. After a long flight, it was wonderful to be able to have a lovely shower! That kept us refreshed. The showers are very clean and have fresh towels and a few amenities. In the main area there's a buffet full of drink and food items. You can also order special meals from the menu. Folks - if you ever manage to get an upgrade to United Polaris class flying into Heathrow please make time to use the arrivals lounge! They give you a coupon as you leave the plane but that won't get you in ..... so you can't give to a friend or bring in a guess. They check to make sure that you were indeed a Polaris (Business) passenger. Since I have flown so much on United over the years (almost 2 million miles) I have had quite a few upgrades recently. Basically come out of the baggage check and look left as you see daylight and folks waiting for loved ones - and there it is! The offerings are complete breakfast of every kind (cooked but also cold cuts, cheese, oatmeal, toast, cereals, pastries, juices, coffee and everything else. But the BEST part - put your name on the list and within a few minutes you have your very own shower suite and the luxury of all luxuries after a transoceanic flight - a HOT SHOWER. I like the spot. It opens to Polaris class travelers and Global Services types. They will take you straight to showers which I have come to appreciate. I like their menu selection. Very small bite size breakfast items. The showers are comfortable and have your usual Polaris class amenities. The breakfast smoothies on the buffet section is quite delightful. You find lots of travelers here early in the morning as most of us don't have a hotel room yet though I generally just want to relax a bit before getting in an Uber. Note: the United Arrivals lounge is temporarily closed due to the pandemic. However, let's hope it reopens like it used to be as it's a gem for travelers. Flying in a lie-flat business class seat to Europe is always a treat, but if you're like me and take advantage of all the wining-an-dining onboard, you still land in Europe quite tired. If you're flying United or Air Canada, after the endlessly long walk out of T2 you'll find this fantastic arrivals lounge past immigration which is the perfect place to refresh yourself. Once the staff will check the manifest to make sure you are eligible to enter, you'll find a lovely breakfast buffet waiting for you with plenty of made-to-order plates on offer. Best of all is the hot showers and they'll even press your outfit for you while you are showering. Especially when landing early in the morning before your hotel room is ready, the showers are like a gift from above. It is a good arrival lounge, with showers and generously sized individual bathrooms. I come here about every other week this year and it has been good so far. I don't always take a shower if my first night in the UK is nearby, but it has been a very nice thing to take a shower after landing. It has a menu as well for à la carte items, see the picture. Portion sizes are small but you don't pay extra for those. Besides that there is a small buffet with some baked goods, small (very small) cups of smoothie, fruits and yogurt. A number of drinks and of course a coffee maker. Seating is good though not every seat has power, but I bring my own large power pack that can power my laptop. Staff is professional and courteous, especially when there is no cricket on tv :-). If you are an American Express customer or Priority Pass holder you may also be eligible for the other arrival lounge next door, Priority Pass Lounge. It also has showers, but the food is terrible and they don't have decent coffee, the United lounge is much better. read more

This "landside" lounge is apparently only open to passengers landing before noon, which I don't quite understand - I could definitely land at 12:30 and want to take a shower. But in any case, since it's outside of security, they might just assume you should go on your way instead of hanging out at the airport. I thankfully landed about 11:20, and so got to use it. Note that you can't invite guests in to this place - we couldn't manage to sneak someone who had landed on a different flight, even with two Star Alliance Golds and a 1K, because they were checking names against a flight manifest. Yikes. The shower rooms themselves are nice - good water pressure, maybe a little on the small side once you open up a suitcase, but still workable. The downside is that they have no ventilation and therefore get super steamy - when you're showering and dressing in a muggy room like that, you end up sweating pretty bad (or at least I did). I was heartened to find it wasn't just me, my coworkers also needed to sit and cool down post shower. So maybe we just need to learn to run the water colder. There is a light assortment of snacks and breakfast foods plus drinks, so you can also grab a quick, light bite if needed. In any case, if this is your final destination and you land before noon, this is a great option since being landside allows you to claim baggage and not have it doing laps on a claim belt while you try to find an airside lounge to freshen up in. Just terrific when you consider the alternatives. This lounge is accessible after clearing customs and picking up luggage. It does not appear very large on entry. There are five large round tables, a bar-type table with charging stations, and eggshell chairs with smaller tables scattered around the room. The buffet is nice looking. Continental breakfast, espresso machine, mini-sandwiches, toast, fruit. There is ample self-serve beverage service. Make sure you grab one of the menus above the buffet, though, as you are also able to order English breakfast, eggs benedict, and more substantial fare than the croissants that are available for the taking. The hot breakfast is actually very good. Excellent quality for a complimentary breakfast. There are many showers. The shower suites are clean and pretty large for one person. There is a noticeable and unfortunate lack of dresser-top space for laying a large bag, but it's hard to fault the lounge for not making bedroom-size shower suites. Most important of all, the water pressure and water temperature are excellent, and the space within the shower itself is great. This actually feels like a shower in a good hotel, which is pretty amazing considering that this a complimentary flying perk. The staff is friendly, if a bit robotic. Good amenities in the shower suites. Nice shampoo, conditioner, and bathroom gel. Airline convenience pack versions of toiletries -- toothpaste, toothbrush, razor, shaving cream, etc. It is possible, it seems, to clean up pretty nicely without having to open your shaving kit. Strong hair dryer too. Access to the lounge is limited to those arriving on business class or first class fares through United (and possibly other airlines?) before noon. I suppose the rationale is that those arriving after noon can shower at the hotel. Hard to come up with a complaint about the place. I hesitate to rate this five-stars because that seems to imply excellent on the level of a three-star michelin restaurant at the top of its game. This is not that for sure. But as far as complimentary airport amenities go, this is a sweet deal. Food, shower, good service, newspapers, all before having to leave Heathrow. Well done, United. read more

This is the last time I fly with United!!! Not only do they charge you and arm and a leg to fly but then they charge you ridiculous amounts for luggage! When flying international a lot of airlines offer luggage check ins at a decent cost or no cost. Both my fiancé and I got our tickets for an international flight to London and had requested vegetarian meals. When time came for our meal the air hostess rudely said we ran out. When asked if they had anything else he looked at us like we were idiots for asking. With no substitutions and rude behavior he walked away from us. As a frequent flier I will take my business elsewhere and suggest you do the same. They have continuous patterns of rude behavior. read more
