Walked here for lunch during a work trip. It's located at a busy intersection and has a game room attached(you can smell the cigarettes' smoke) a few booths and counter seating. The kitchen is set up so you can see the grill while your order is prepared. The waitress was very friendly but didn't wait around too long. I had the steak sandwich with fries and a coke. Everything was good, the steak was a bit tough but what do you expect for $9. The sandwich had the normal dressings, lettuce, tomatoes, mayo. The fries were big steak fries, decent but nothing special. I would go back if it was my only choice. read more

Today are travels took us to the United Grill. The grill is a cute small Chicago old style diner that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The prices are fair. We each order the French toast plate with sausage, hot cakes plate with bacon, and the pepper egg sandwich . The pepper egg sandwich is cheep and has plenty of peppers but the sandwich over is bland And we wouldn't recommend it. The hot cakes were great and the bacon was very tender and delicious. The French toast was absolutely delicious! Thin slices that had a light crusty texture. The sausage links were greasy but delicious!! Over, the food was excellent other than the pepper egg sandwich. Thought it was pretty good. I got three cheese burgers with fries. The fries serving was HUGE, but I found them a little bland. The burgers and fries were good for those looking for a nice dive spot or hole in the wall-type of meal. I thought the serving size was a little small and the burgers hard to eat because they were so dive-y. Good place but I'm not super sold on it. Would maybe try again in a few months. read more

3/2/24 - Great food and service from a classic diner. I was there around noon and ordered three eggs w/bacon potatoes and toast. Nice sized portion for and Everything tasted fantastic. The diner looks like it's been there forever, but everything was well kept and clean. They've added some space for video gaming, but it doesn't interfere with the main dining area or the overall experience. Great alternative to the fast food options on Cermack. read more

Great place to grab a Cheeseburger, well I will divide it like that: Prices : Very reasonable. Service : Good could be a little bit better. Taste: Great. This spot is currently doing dining in. They also have glass dividers to separate guests from other guests. Service is friendly and quick. The place is clean too! Especially unexpected for a diner. Ordered the gyro skillet and ribeye steak. All affordable and delicious for pricing. Would love to come here again to try their burgers. read more

This quiet gem of Chicago has been serving the city well for decades. The breakfast menu is not five pages long, but what's on it is really good! The hamburgers need seasoning, so go for the yummy breakfast. Ashley was our waitress and she treated us like we were in a fancy 4-5 restaurant. So, the service was great and the ambiance needs work. What a gem this place is. Honestly, if they start delivering I would order this at least twice a week. From breakfast to burgers everything is cooked to perfection. Breakfast is an extremely good deal as well and they get it out to you pretty quick so if you need to catch the train or buses nearby trust me you'll have your food in your hands with time to spare. They also use my favorite L'Oven Fresh bread from Aldi's (the best thing Aldi's has aside from Mama Cozzi's pizza snacks) One thing they need to work on is the bathroom. Jeezuz that bathroom is an unkempt mess. Small, dirty, broken door, etc. it looks like some of the apartments I've been in when I lived in the projects. Hopefully they fix it soon. They also gripe when they have to accept credit cards (crowd here is usually old school and pays cash) with the waitress exclaiming "Just this once baby! As far as "Greasy Spoon" restaurants go... we really, really like this place. The food is consistently cooked, of decent quality, good portions, and most of all, tasty. No surprises. My friend is semi new to the area and said she always drives past but had never gone, so today we went for breakfast. It wasn't too crowded, and our food arrived very quick. She liked her French toast and her daughter didn't complain about her pancakes, especially after she soaked them w/syrup! 24/7/365 days a year. Yes, I am the person who wants to go out for breakfast after drinking all night the Wednesday before Thanksgiving or on New Year's morning, and thank god for this place because it's always open. I often get the grilled cheese and hash browns but the eggs are good too. It's a typical greasy spoon diner, offering a typical diner menu and decor. It's a little gritty around the edges and in a Hispanic neighborhood so I think there are a few Mexican food choices on the menu as well. I very much enjoyed sitting in a booth early New Year's morning and watching an 8-piece mariachi band in matching velvet costumes sit down for some food at the counter. I love United. Yes it is just a simple diner but an inexpensive way to fill your tummy if you are in the area. My dad has been coming to United since he was a kid and is now a family tradition. Sure, the business has changed hands since then but the quality has stayed the same. Simple good cheep diner food 24 hours a day 7 days a week. read more

Among the many taquerias, it isn't easy to find all American diners such as this one in the middle of Cicero, IL. Although there isn't a large menu selection, their food is great quality for what you pay. You can get a tasty $4 Cheeseburger special (w/ fries and a drink), while it's Wendy's counterpart across the street sells the same items for more. The breakfast/brunch selection is wider and tastier. I would however stay away from the fried shrimp because they are bland (the waitress told my friend and I that they come straight from a bag). The fact that it's open 24 hours is awesome. You may encounter some interesting characters, but I've never been bothered by them. I'm glad this place exists. It adds variety to the Cicero area and keeps my stomach and wallet satisfied. read more

Should be able to go 0 or negative stars. I think the a hole owner and whatever girl answers the phone got some real personal issues for the way they bark back at PAYING, RETURNING customers. But, won't be returning again. They need a therapist and a journal and a better cook that can read or just close the place down all together. read more

I live right around the corner from this place and have gone there to eat at differing times very often throughout the years. In short: I love it. And the more you go regularly, the more the employees get to know you! Its really a great place with friendly staff. I will not doubt that you will come across very many people from all corners of the Chicago area but its refreshing to have a little place in Cicero so diverse and great. This place is amazing! I just moved into Cicero and tried this place on my bday for a quick breakfast. This place has the best French Toast I have ever tried!! Their bacon is spot on and hashbrowns yummmm....I have tried their grits twice but they are just OK (it's no Waffle House kinda grits here, man I wish we had Waffle House in Chicago...but that's another review) anywho, this place is a must try. An all time classic, old school diner with the atmosphere to go with it. A hidden gem to the locals. What can I say it is also the best late night drunk spot with everything from breakfast too dinner. I can attest to coming in piss drunk and eating the best burger or chicken sandwich I have ever had, but to be honest I sometimes come in sober to get their chicken sandwich. Our server was so kind and attentive to all of our needs, constantly filling our water and asking if we needed anything. It was great! George's reminds me of old-timey Greek-owned restaurants I used to frequent as a kid living in Indiana, which I miss dearly.

The biscuits/gravy were old and the biscuits were hard. The gravy seemed like they poured it out of a jar and brought it to my table. Flavorless and not worth the $8 it cost me. The links, ham, pancakes, eggs were why they got 2 stars. I will probably never return.

There is a "Greek bread" offered with is thick white bread with sesame seeds, and sort of odd, not bad, not interesting. There are other diner-like menu items, but in thinking about it, IHoP does this so much better and at about the same price. We had higher hopes.
