United Healthcare did pretty good for the most part if you like being ignored although it's very difficult to deal with and to reach them they want you to use thier app so it's easy for them to ignore you. My biggest complaint about them is that they really are only in the business for the money not to help their members. Case In point, I'm a diabetic and require insulin. Which is okay they have insulin in their formulary however I am allergic to that type of insulin and although there are brands I can take since th other major brand is not in UHC formulary I can't get it. Mind you I'm allergic to that type and my previous doctor told me that it could cause some serious health issue if I took their brand. I asked them what my options was and was told that I can take the medication I was allergic too, pay $400 for one box of they right insulin, or I can go without insulin. So, I'm going to the philippines next week and I will buy 15 or 20 boxes (for $20each )there while I attempt to reach the insurance department which has already told me they can only help if the company is doing something illegal or maybe I'll try to file a law suite. Employers do not abuse your staff using this isurance and dont use them as your medicare part D provider. They may kill you read more

The insurance might be okay, but they need to invest in training their employees because their customer service is inadequate. I called several times for an entire week, and they seem to have no understanding of what customer service means. They ask the same questions repeatedly, request information that is already in their system, and transfer you to another customer care representative when they don't know what to say. I requested to speak to a supervisor and was kept on hold for an hour. If this were an emergency, it would have been disastrous. I have used one Chiropractor for 10 years. North Texas Physical, 940-455-2122. The are on my preferred provider listing under Shane Henry. Their staff and services are stellar. However, a change in insurance policies via their new insurance gestapo, I have no coverage from UHC. (By the way, UHC states there is no denied claims from these people) Several hours and 3 phones calls to UHC, passed from person to person, and likely dropped resulted in 2 live human beings that said I was covered. But, no help with North Texas. My 3rd attempt was today. I read other reports about the excellent service from UHC which reads like science fiction to me. read more

I would give them a zero if I could. They only give you $4130 worth of prescriptions and then you will pay full price for the end of the year Which has just happened to me. I take five prescriptions and two of them will be 200+ dollars a piece. Really sorry Insurance. I just got off the phone with them and I was supposed to leave A review because they told me to stay on the line. Well they discontinued the phone on their end and I wasn't able to so I am writing this. If you need a good insurance this is surely not it. I hate this insurance company. They said that they were going to send me a U card and that was about two weeks ago. They said it will be at my house in five days and it still is not here. I have called many times and they said give will give it a couple more days.and it will be here. UnitedHealthcare is by far the worst company when it comes to processing their members claims. We have claims all the way back in January that they have not processed. Whats so messed up is that some of these patients have high deductibles and have been paying it but they are not getting credit for it because United is not processing the claims. So now when these patients go and see other doctors they still have to pay when the doctors office runs their benefits it shows it as if their deductibles have not been met. Insurance companies don't want your deductible to be met becaue if it does they have to start paying for your care. United is the worst when it comes to this. read more

I absolutely love United Healthcare. I was upset when forced to switch from BCBS of Texas to United, however I soon learned their customer service far exceeds BCBS, as well as their speed for prior approval meds, specifically for me Nuvigil which is a controlled substance. I don't understand those saying they lack doctors/ specialist. Almost every doctor within a 25 mi radius is covered by them, even for my fiancé who has an EPO through obamacare. I actually chose United healthcare for him because they accepted all of his current doctors, which included 7 or so doctors spread out from Arlington to Irving to Dallas, etc. They also approved one of his very controversial and expensive drugs (abt. 12k/ month), within a day of the request. We were so impressed given his last insurance co. he had a PPO with took forever to accept the same medication and farkled it up several times. Plus they have a pretty cool app (health4me) that lets you search for doctors, pharmacies, hospitals, specialists, etc. covered by your plan. The neatest part is the estimated drug cost calculator which shows their pay/ your copay, and savings you'll receive if you sign up for mail order. And they provide a virtual copy of your insurance card. The app also syncs with fibit. What more can you ask for? I feel like I struck gold with this company, they are awesome and their customer care center always is a real person & they know what they are doing, not reading from some manuscript. Anyways, I think if you are polite when you have an issue with something, they will respond positively. I'm sure they hear complaining all day long with no acknowledgement of the actual good they accomplish. Being understanding and patient goes along way. The frustrations with United Health Care continue to mount! Just days after UHC refused to fill my wife's prescription that she had been on for weeks, forcing her to go off meds for 3 at least 3 days until after a her DR submits paperwork as to why it is necessary (*SARCASM* because I'm sure Dr's prescribe all kinds of meds that aren't necessary all the time! Can't tell you how many morphine RX's I've walked out of the office with after going in for blood work!!) Now my daughter needs continued care to deal with her mental health issues, and guess what? United Health Care again is doing everything it seemingly can to prevent her from getting the care she needs! She has been to a clinic called Mind Above Matters, which despite being in network is costing an arm and a leg. While the cost would be worth it if it was effective, the treatment unfortunately has been crap and has not not done a darn thing to help her! In fact she has gotten worse since starting there, so much so that she has spent the last week at an in patient hospital! So today we find out that she can't be discharged until we can arrange patient care for her after her discharge. We don't want to take her back to the Mind Above Matters and we found a (seemingly) great clinic within minutes of our home that was recommended by my daughter's high school intervention counselor called Innovations. The problem is that Innovations is "Out of Network", and it is far too expensive for us to afford at the "Out of Network" pricing. I can't even make the required deposit to start treatment! We have requested that an exception be made and that UHC might allow her to be treated there as "In Network". UHC denied that and all they could offer was the suggestion several other clinics within 20 miles of our house as being acceptable. The problem is that while they may be within 20 miles from our house, they are all 45+ minute drives from our house one way!. Neither my wife nor I can make that drive and be at work on time, in the morning to drop her off or be there in the afternoon to pick her up! While UHC may be content to screw us over on this, I am content to spread this factual story of how we have been treated by UHC on ever social media site continuously until the day I die. If I can cost UHC ANY money at all from their unspoken motto of "screw the insured we need more profits" mentality, I will take pleasure in that. read more

This Insurance is a disaster. They have charged me two months at the same time and my insurance still no valid. I have invested 4 hours in several calls and I still are having problems with them. United Health Care was reccommended by AARP & that was good enough for me. But I was very disappointed. Almost no one accepted their HMO which is the same as not even having ins. My PCP wasn't even in their network & she accepted a variety of health plans. The local hospital also refused to accept their plan. Specialists were almost nonexistant. And many prescriptions were very expensive or not in their formulary at all. Later, I learned that AARP gets a kick back from the companies they reccommend. So much for United & AARP. read more
