After falling through with 2 other mortgage brokers I finally contacted Chris Kinsella - and he blew any other broker out of the water, not only with his professionalism, but with his personal level of service to my wife and me. Chris is one of the main reasons we own a home today. I'm going to keep this short and sweet - Chris isn't going to make you feel hopeful about getting your home, he's not going to give you false expectation, he's not going to tell you anything you don't need to hear. He's real - incredibly honest and upfront about your financial situation and what you can do with it. Other people I worked with kept giving me a false sense of hope for what I could afford, and then everything would fall through last minute. This is so heartbreaking when you find a place you really want. This industry is so competitive you can't afford to have these kind of issues with professionals you're working with. The banking industry isn't one you want to mess with. They will scour your every penny, every bank account, everything to make sure you can afford your place. When you work with a broker you want someone who accurately reflects your situation. Back to Chris: after searching for nearly 6 months and finally finding the place we could both afford and one that we actually wanted, we became very close to loosing the property due to dealing with 2 finance companies that messed up our numbers. I had previously contacted Chris and been in touch with him to ask random questions, even when I was working with other companies. He was always patient and super happy to help me no matter the situation. When I finally called him at the 11th hour of closing, desperate for someone to give me a real sense of what I needed to do (pay off credit cards, a car loan, etc) - Chris stuck by to the very end and made it work out for us. I can honestly say that Chris is one of the main factors that we own a home today. Don't mess with other companies. Don't price shop when it comes to your loan. After doing our due diligence i.e.checking reviews on sites like Yelp and Google with real reviews. Chris Kinsella and his team were one of our top choices. It was our first time buying a house. And we read all the literature through consumer financial protection board cfpb.gov. If CFPB was giving awards for bankers following their recommendations Chris should be one of the top mortgage bankers in the country. He listens patiently, answers intelligently while giving prudent financial advice. This is a tough combo to beat. Based on these attributes other mortgage bankers lost my business and Chris won it for his tremendous salesmanship. And I am old fashioned with regards to business, I like to meet face to face with people whom I am conducting business. My two cents if you are trying to save 100$ on 300k $ mortgage you will be penny wise but pound foolish. Because if you can't close in time all those savings will evaporate in thin air. Other attributes which I learnt during the process that caught my eye were UH Loans documentation process, Transparent and Secure with ease of Online submissions. If the person reading this is still not convinced , here is a thought Chris was on his family vacation but still made sure to work the backend and kept checking with me throughout the loan process. I was impressed with Alise from the start, as she was very helpful in explaining all the particulars of a mortgage during our first call. She provided me with the lowest rate and competitive fees, and there were no surprises later. Unlike the other brokers, she used very conservative figures when quoting my projected monthly payment. After closing, my monthly payment ended up being actually lower than projected. She was very friendly from start to finish and her staff worked diligently to meet my closing date. I completed my original home loan with Chris, and he had approached me with the recommendation to refi to save quite a bit of money. Chris walked me through the all of the steps involved and worked with me to decide what terms would be best for me. The entire process from first contact to closing was completed in less than 30 days. Their online secure document transfer setup was great, along with the ability to digitally sign everything up until closing. After waiting over 60 days, they still were not in a position to close my loan and I was informed that the rate they offered me had expired. There was surprise after surprise and excuse after excuse. Working with United Home Loans was one of the worst experiences I could have possibly had. As a first time home buyer, I expected a company with many 5 star reviews to be a shoe in for a great experience. Unfortunately, I was incredibly disappointed. I am the type of person who likes to get things done way ahead of time, so despite having almost 60 days to close, I made sure to have every piece of information that was needed in early so that the process would move smoothly. Little did I know that I would get an email three days before closing saying things like "hopefully we will still be able to close" due to lack of information that I could have easily gotten had I been told before 5pm on a Friday when everyone from a previous job of mine had gone home for the day. On top of that, the morning of closing, on my way to the walk through I got a call from my mortgage broker to tell me that there was another error in the paperwork from the insurance company...again, something that was submitted weeks prior and had just been found that morning. I was lucky enough that my insurance agent is a family friend and was willing to work on a new policy for me immediately, crunching numbers in order to get me to be able to close that afternoon, but had I not known my insurance agent personally, I'm not sure we would have been able to close that day. I was unbelievably disappointed and extremely upset with the amount of stress United Home Loans, and particularly the agent Chris Kinsella, caused me that day. I would not recommend this company to anyone looking for a smooth closing. I have no idea how they have so many 5 star reviews, but I will definitely be more vigilant on who I choose to use in the future. read more
