That darn light came on today and the first thing I could do is panic and think about the cost to fix. As I was on a stroll back to work from lunch I yelped "Check Engine" and O'Riley's popped up on my local search. I walked in and was assisted by Stephen! He was awesome. He took a diagnostic device outside to my car and hooked it underneath the dash and low and behold... He pulled my code from the car and told me exactly what I needed to do. The store manager, Chris S. helped diagnose my bad alternator, which originally tested "good" but he went the extra mile by charging my battery and even gave me a courtesy call to let me know my battery was ready. He then retested my alternator and it read "bad diode." I would have never known and would have spent a lot more taking it to a car repair shop when I can put the alternator in myself. I was able to buy a new alternator and replace it myself. Thank you Chris S. and team for all of your help and saving me some extra money!!
