I turned in my leased vehicle here yesterday and it was a BREEZE. Coming from out of state, losing paperwork to turn in a lease, this being my first time with a leased vehicle, and had wear and tear on the vehicle, I had a bit of anxiety. However, ALL of the employees here are super friendly and welcoming (may have been the Girl Scout Cookies I had on me to start friendly banter ha). They took my car for a drive, checked it out, signed it off, and bam...done within 15 minutes. No need for stress at all! They were all reassuring and told me that the only thing I needed was that third key I didn't even know I had (thank goodness for the junk drawer box I packed) or else it would be a $500 fee. This was seriously easier than looking for a vehicle. They also did not try to sell me any cars or pressure me in the slightest. These guys are professional and did not take advantage of lil ol' me like soooo many places I've gone to. I HIGHLY recommend returning your leased Subaru to this location. read more

've made a bad purchase with this dealership and the service I received was less than pleasant from Hyundai Corporate, Southern States Hyundai Services and PreOwned Lot . I bought my Hyundai Tucson with only 1 previous owner from THIS pre-owned lot , and apparently certified pre owned. I bought the car 12/23/2022 with 26k miles on it and by Christmas days off the lot, my check engine light came on. By JAN 2023, I was told I needed a brand new Catalytic Converter. FEB 2023 I had my car back, new Converter installed by Hyundai and was on the road. I wasn't told verbally, parts installed by Hyundai only last a ONE year OR 12k miles. By SEPT 2023 my mother was sick and passed away NOV 2023. My check engine light was back on JAN 2024 but flashing. I wasn't sure what the problem was but due to grief and curating a funeral I wasn't able to bring my car back in immediately. I finally bought the car into service JUN 2024 just to see what was going on, as the check engine light still flashing. Flashing as in one week it was on, then the next two weeks it would be off. I was told since I didn't have a Warranty I'd have to pay out of pocket. Although, I knew I had bought a warranty especially after buying the car with a bad Converter, so I left service to find my warranty. Funny enough the guy who sold me the car no longer works there so no one could find my warranty. I called finance in AUG 2024, and by then the engine light is staying on! They located my warranty but advise to just come in and they will "help". Fast forward to NOW OCT 2024, I was told I HAVE NO WARRANTY. I am out of warranty, Hyundai is unable to service my car. The warranty I purchased only covers electrical issues. They charged me $250 to diagnose the Check Engine light with no further help. Sent me on my way with a future $3000 IF i would like my check engine light off, as I now need a new Converter and a NEW O2 sensor. The kicker is within the first 10 months it was easy for me to drive 12k given the circumstances so by time the engine light came I was out of warranty anyhow. It's almost like they service the cars to last right until warranty is up so the bill is on the customer. I was told by the maintenance team the Catalytic Converter that was first put in did NOT come with a new O2 sensor and should have, but IF I would NOW like the engine light to come off, since I'm out out of the warranty on the part installed. This time they will make sure it comes with a new O2 sensor. They can't now just put an O2 sensor in only, they must replace the whole converter now and it is on ME not them. How can I ensure the job will be done correctly now ESPECIALLY that it comes out of my pocket? I am ultimately upset, almost 2years and I haven't enjoyed my car. The car was sold to me with all type of bodily damage like a small crack on he windshield, old gum wrapped and stuck to the paint, and a trunk that does not lift gate (but is supposed too). I've overlooked a lot but no longer. Hyundai can't seem to answer WHY for a 2019 Hyundai Tucson with ONLY 2 owners, the car would have needed THREE new Catalytic Converters by 2024. Maintenance can only confirm it may be the 02 sensor but both now need replacing at my expense as they cannot tell damage since I didn't bring the car back in for service. Regardless, even if I bought it in at the beginning of JAN 2024 when we first saw the engine light back on I would've been out of the parts warranty. I hit that 12k miles NOV 2023 burying my mother. They have NO solutions to offer except the car get serviced elsewhere. I want Hyundai to take responsibility for now improperly changing in Catalytic Converter without changing the 02 sensor when I first purchased this care, allowing the car to only function to a certain time frame and then the expense to be on a customer. read more

The sales portion of the transaction went pretty well. Unfortunately I had battery issues starting 3 weeks after my purchase. I called the sales guy, who promised to help if the battery was deemed bad and then he retired. :( 3 months into owning the car the battery has been deemed a bad battery by the Subaru Service center across the street. Tom the sales manager, refused to do anything to help me replace it. So purchase away but don't expect any kind of a professional back-up when they sell you a bum car. read more

We made the mistake of using their recommendation for pre-inspection services whom claimed the car was in great shape, only a few days later started having engine problems leading to a new transmission needed. We tried to take it back and were told by another reputable that they would/should have known about this before they sold it to us without full disclosure. I want to preface by saying I know everyone has their bad days and I have never written a single review in my life. The reason I am writing this one is because I was going to buy a Hyundai Veloster from Southern States Pre-Owned and had a very interesting experience. The sales guy was cordial and utilized texting for convenience since I work constantly (in sales I might add so I understand the EOY struggle). I was looking for a manual transmission car and my name can be used for both males and females. Needless to say, he was NOT expecting a woman to walk into the store by herself for this zippy little Veloster. I could obviously tell by the end of the test drive the rep was JUST interested in how big my loan was and how fast he could get me out of the store with this car. Every question I asked seemed like a complete and utter inconvenience. At this point I was so over the situation that I told him that I had found another car and wanted to look at it before I purchased the one I just test drove. He looked at me, said "okay then" and walks back into the store..... That was the end of my encounter at Southern States. I specifically did not get the car I wanted because I felt so uncomfortable with the sales guy. I then went to Carvana, where the sales rep was amazingly nice and willing to talk me through the car, the buying process, and set me up with time to test the car when it arrives. Ross is a relaxed, non-pressuring overall good person and I felt at ease able to talk to him and drive around some cars. He knew that I already had a deal going on at another dealership and during our test drive was willing to drop us off at the other dealership and take the test drive back to his lot. Upon departure, he didn't try to convince us to come back nor try and hard sales tactics. It was refreshing after a full day of testing other cars and dealing with salespeople all day. When I was looking at what he had available, he listened to what I wanted, what I was looking for and nailed the perfect car that I ended up buying. He was a good buffer between me and the sales manager Lee. I like the way he works, he let me do my thing, which can come off as abrasive and blunt, but I'm a straight-forward, get to the point type of person. He is patient, kind, and has a good heart, and he will do a good job as a salesperson able to put the customer at ease and feel like a person, rather than dollar signs. I've come to the service center here for years for my Subaru, and I recently traded it in for a Certified Pre-Owned Mazda. It was a smooth transaction and my salesperson was not pushy, answered all my questions knowledgeably, and the buying process was quick. The prices they offered upfront were significantly lower than other dealerships, so there wasn't the hassle of lots of haggling and bargaining. In my experience, they're just fair, honest people who genuinely want customers to be happy with their new car. We had no intention to purchase two cars but the black 2010 dodge charger they had on the lot was priced great and my husband had to drive it. William was our sales person and he offered car fax before we had to ask. After the test drive Brian, the manager of Preowned appraised our trade and we ended up with a great car at a great price. WARNING! DO NOT BUY HERE! Bought my Jeep here before Thanksgiving. After months of looking, I thought I found the perfect car. 3 days after pulling off the lot I found leaks in the windshield and door jams! I even had a puddle that filled the whole front passenger side floor. I brought it to Management and they said they fix it, I was called to come pick it up. Guess what no work was done when they said it had. I was livid! They took ownership and said they give me a loaner car and they fix it. Well 3 tries over a months time and the car still leaks. That's not it though. 2 weeks after my purchase the car started shaking and making noises, management told me to hold on and it would be fixed when the warranty kicked in. I waited nearly two months and finally they looked into it. They said it was the drive shaft and said it was "fixed for the most part" and it would still make a small shake. So they said bring it to a Jeep dealership. So that's what I did to find out that they only replaced the front drive shaft and the back drive shaft now needed replacing as well. Jeep told me it would take a week to get the part and a week to fix. At this point my car warranty wouldn't cover a rental (my cars been in the shop more then I've driven it at this point). I reached out to southern states Pre owned to make it right and see if they would give me a loner car for the inconvenience and all that I've been through. They denied it and said good luck. Here I am 3 months in from purchasing my Jeep and barely driven it. I was sold a lemon. I would never recommend this place. read more

I will never give this place a penny of my money again!! I would recommend if you are considering purchasing a vehicle from this dealership, DON'T!!! If I could give a negative rating I would! I bought a pre-owned 2018 Ford Escape from here. 30 days later, I had all sorts of notifications show up on my dash. They claimed it had passed a complete inspection. I reckon that was after they reset all the codes while hooked up to computer system. Not even 30 days after purchasing the vehicle, the steering went out & come to find out it required an entire new steering gear & other repairs that were found by diagnostic codes. They refused to help in anyway or back up their guarantee of selling a safe vehicle. I played phone tag with them for over 2 weeks. Eventually, they didn't even bother returning my calls anymore. AFTER I JUST GAVE THEM $15,000 IN FULL!! So I had no choice but to pay for repairs, after all said & done another $3,000.00 read more

I HIGHLY recommend Southern States Pre-owned Auto on Wake Forest Road. I am a working mom & work like 12 hours a day- leaving little time for this process. Go see Stephen Jenkins at the pre-owned lot or ask for him at the main lot. He's a genuine guy who helped me buy a car basically on my lunch break. I texted him questions all day and he answered immediately. I also called him 7 times that day. Alex Smith in finance doesn't play games either. I told them that I needed a car under $400 a month. They did it. They said 399. I said I really needed something better. They said 375. I said I'll buy it today if you give me a bit better. We settled at 363. It's really great for what I got. A fully loaded 2016 Subaru Crosstrek retails for 30k. I got a 2013 fully loaded with 50k miles for 20k including lifetime powertrain, 100k bumper to bumper, & gap insurance. I would give this place ZERO stars if I could. I'm not going to waste my time and write a full review from start to finish. I will just make my point. I came upon Southern States wanting to trade my car in for another car as my car was just not what I needed any more and in need of a few repairs, oil leak, struts, dent from a previous accident and normal wear and tear. I still had a little bit left to pay off and I guess this is where the one star can come in, they did pay off the rest of my car so that I would not be upside down. Thanks. I have wanted a chevy cruze now for quite a while. I found one on their lot, the only one, 2011 Red LTZ fully loaded sunroof, leather seats, everything I want in a car as all my cars have previously had these same upgrades. The salesman was very kind and told me that I could drive it and take it anywhere I wanted to go. I thought wow, usually they want to ride with me but ok I went and drove it around with my son in the back seat. Came back, I liked the ride, a little slow as far as accelerating but I guess thats why it takes 9.0secs to reach 60 mph. Anyway I was not trying to be picky. Came in the next day traded my car in for the cruze and drove off the lot! The next day while I was driving around I did hear a faint grinding noise while I was at the stop light. I turned the a/c off thinking it was just the coolant. It still kept going. The next day I went to pick up the things left in my old car and told the salesman the noise I had heard. He told me that it was probably nothing, but if I kept hearing it for me to take it to their service. Mind you I have the 100,000 Warranty on it. Just this past week, 20 DAYS AFTER I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. I take it in to get this noise checked out and what do they tell me? I need a NEW TRANSMISSION!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Are you fucking kidding me!?!? I trade in my POS car for a even BIGGER POS car!?!? I get that I bought a used car "as is" and that my warranty will cover the cost of a new transmission. NOT THE POINT. They KNEW that car needed a new transmission, although they wont admit it and by law do not have to due to the "as-is" contract, and still even with my son sleeping in the chair ready to go home the day I purchased the vehicle sold me a car WAY overpriced, considering the transmission was bad. Supposedly I now must wait until my 30 days is up for the power train warranty to kick in, and now am without my car and in a loaner car. My first payment is due in 2 weeks and who knows if I will even have my car by then. I am deeply upset and disappointed to know that such shady people are out there just to make another sale, not giving 2 fucks about what you tell them as far as looking for a reliable car. I am a single mom, I work go to school, Im just out here trying to survive. Now this? Come on...PLEASE if you are considering going to Southern States, get your car looked at by a Technician, or bring a mechanic with you to the lot. No one should be put in this situation, even though I know it happens everyday. I hope I can help someone with this review!
