I was constantly awakened for meds, blood work, diabetic testing (4 times a day), and an X-ray of the hip was taken at 11:15 pm the day before discharge, bed sore treatment at 11:30 pm (I don't have bed sores). The housekeeping service was unacceptable. See the pictures below showing the stains around the toilet, the dirty floor, and the shower. It was disgusting! I reported to the Housekeeping Supervisor, and it was improved immediately. The air mattress malfunctioned, and it took 3 days to replace it. I slept in the chair for 3 nights. The food was terrible, and as a result, I lost 6 pounds from not eating. I really looked forward to my family visiting on weekends so we could share meals. The physical and occupational therapy was outstanding; a big shout-out to Darrell, Eric, and Chad for their support and encouragement. I felt confident about leaving the facility and looked forward to continuing PT at home. Unfortunately, Janie Nixon-Harmon, Social Services Mgr, did not make contact with the PT home care service, as indicated on the checkout form and verbally communicated. This was also true of the meal plan service. I spent an hour plus on the phone with my insurance provider setting up the PT service and Meal service. The delay impacts my recovery time frame. PT is delayed for over a week and half.

Marie B. and others did a great job caring for my mom. But when I needed Care on a regular basis during the weekend unfortunately their caregivers fell short., One stayed on the phone among other things Another one walked in and when I asked her to put on shoe covers she refused and left. The last one ( before I terminated assignment) on Sunday let my mom stay in a wet, dirty diaper from the time I left at 11:30am to 3:30pm. When I called to complain no one from Mazaltov called to apologize or ask about my mother ( same caregiver let her fall and did not call ambulance or cover her with a blanket). My advice is to be very clear on what needs to be done, if possible supervise or show up unexpectedly. Sadly, this is a nurse registry so aides may not be vaccinated ( unless you request) and are basically their own boss ( May leave assignment no consequences).

But I hope that when you read this it will help you to make the call to bring what will shortly feel like extended family into your home. I still remember the angst my wife and I felt when it was time to go back to work and we needed to hire a nanny. Who's going to love and take care of my child as I would. This is what we all felt going through search for the right people and we knew as soon as we met Marina we'd found the right place. Even though she was going on a big trip the very next day, she come over and sat with my mom and I. She wanted to get to know my mom, and learn what was happening with her health. She wanted make sure she had the right person on her team, who had the necessary tools to assist my mom where she needed it, but also give her the space she desired when she wanted it. Marina's team understands the word dignity. And they understand empathy. They realize that many times when they are called this may be the first time someone may have the need to have home care. The search for the right team is hard work. But Marina's team also understands the stress, fear, perhaps even anger felt by the person who needs assistance. This is a loss of freedom and control that for some, can be very difficult. It can bring emotions to light that are unexpected. The experience Marina's team brings in situations such as these reminds you that you have hired not only someone who can be there when your mom is hungry and can make her a home cooked meal, but a professional who has been there before and can help to ease those situations where there's someone who may be scared or perhaps dealing with a sense of a loss of control. Whoever does the intake will get ALL the details! What they like to eat what they don't. When they like to rest and when they are most active. What's the med schedule? Is there an exercise program? Are there therapists coming in for PT, or Occupational therapy. Once ALL of the details are understood a schedule is made and before you know it, you and your loved one will be meeting your new new caregiver. My mom was with a wonderful woman who ultimately became her right hand. She was an absolute professional who charmed my mom as well as my sisters and I. We felt lucky to have her in all of our lives. We could be with my mom whenever we wanted. There was no feeling of awkwardness or anything like that. And the amazing part, was when it was time to leave, we didn't have to worry. We new our mom was in the best possible position with that someone who we knew truly cared about our mom and her well-being. You know you've been in that spot when no one answers and the panic starts immediately?? And if we had any questions or concerns we could give my mom's caregiver a call and she'd be there to answer the phone. That alone...I know you get it. As a post script I'll also include a brief note concerning our insurance coverage. Assisting Hands did a great job of making this part easy for us. For the majority of the time they were with my mom the insurance company was fair and provided the coverage that my mom needed. However there was a very unexpected change that occurred in coverage at one point. The kind of change that makes most of us hate insurance companies....The details are unnecessary, but I want you to know that Marina and her team were staunch supporters of ours throughout the struggles we had with the carrier and we were reminded once again of the true partnership we knew we had with Assisting Hands.

I have had the worst experience dealing with this home health agency for my special needs and…read moredisabled child. All Metro home health care agency lacks integrity and organization. They are unreliable and irresponsible. They provided very poor and inadequate nurse staffing and coverage. The agency's manager did nothing to resolve it. They are all talk, but no action. The one in charge of nurse staffing continually makes up excuses and fabrications to avoid accountability and responsibility in providing adequate nurse staffing for my child. I complained to the agency about this on numerous occasions, but they did absolutely nothing about it. The nurses came in and left at whatever time they wanted and the agency was perfectly fine with this, because they condone this type of behavior. I had reported to them a nurse with unethical behavior and even sent the agency's manager pictures as proof, yet nothing was done to address or reprimand this nurse's abhorrent and unethical behavior at all. They even tried to have this nurse return, knowing fully well what she had done. It was disconcerting to say the least. I am in the process of switching to another nursing home health agency. It has been a nightmare all around dealing with this agency. No one should ever go through what I went through.

It's terrible that you have to be dependant on a company that does not care. I have been in this merry go round with the office who has made every excuse to avoid sending out help. Blaming the doctors office for the miscommunication but it lies only with their own office. Please Please Please look into what is happening with this office. Maybe people need to get back to the office and perform their managerial duties more effectively rather than working from home.
