Pies??!!…read more Yes, you heard right, Ripon, CA's The Pie Company has a deal with Ace that entails a big freezer full of delectable, whole pies to be found near the front of this store. As a pie fan who grew up down South and has baked my share of homemade pies over the years, my standards are high. Besides the hand pies at Pop Pie, and NoCo's shuttered Betty's Pie Whole, I hadn't found a quality local pie purveyor with multiple pie options. Until today. Ace's freezer is stocked with at least 3 different apple pie variations, and tons of other fresh fruit-based options like blueberry, boysenberry, mixed berry, peach and apricot. I took an apricot pie home ($18.99), followed the simple bake instructions and was rewarded with a delicious final product. You can taste the real butter in the crust, the filling is hearty and features large apricot chunks, and the whole pie sings with delicious, well balanced flavors. Can't wait to try boysenberry and other less common flavors next time I'm hit with a pie craving and feeling too lazy to bake my own. When I went in, all of the staff were so nice, and made me feel welcome. Unfortunately they were not able to do the cutting I needed, but they gave me some great advice on how to do it myself, which was always my backup plan. They made me feel more confident about going for it, and with the tips they gave, I was able to complete it on my own. I did get a chance to browse the store a little while I was waiting, and they have some really nice home decor, which I didn't expect. I saw things like wine glasses, candy dishes, and a multitude of other items. When I have more time I would love to go back and check it out some more.

Prepping for an out of town trip and I needed something…read more.. Grainger is know for industrial supplies and I happened to go to their website and looked for an item that I needed in two days. I could have gone with the online companies and pay for next day shipping or try to look for the item in question in a brick and mortar establishment. Ok you twisted my arm I needed an eyeglass lanyard to keep my sunglasses/spectacles safe just in case I fell in the water... going on a water adventure in Rouge River, OR. Any hoot I perused the Grainger website and to my surprise I found the item I was looking for. I called the 800 number to make sure that the location nearest me had it in stock. I called in the afternoon and they had it in the warehouse the next day. I arrived at the facility and social distancing was practiced and I didn't know that I could have picked up my order curbside... It was quick and painless so don't dismiss Grainger for your needs you'll never know they may actually have it.
