This should be the last company you choose if they're still in business.. plenty of reviews on the Internet, supporting my contention that this company is a bad actor took the insurance money. Did part of the job didn't do any tile replacement on my house. I didn't even buy matching tile. It was paid for by State Farm.. left me with a job that was partially complete. The person I originally hired and paid to do the work was a subcontractor who no longer worked with the company. Nik and Alex completed the work, with great communication and responsiveness. Laurie (my Dad's significant other) enlisted the help of the neighbor across the street (Doug) who walked over and first shut off the water main to the home.. then helped her locate the source of the water. They located the hose bib as the source of the water by following the water running on the ground outside andimmediately found the hose bib valve wide open and closed it right away. The water was turned off by approximately 7:10 am. As soon as the hose valve was turned off and the water main turned back on, there was no longer any water entering the basement and therehas not been since. Laurie called John Mendez (the GC on my job also working for United Contracting Group) and he came to see what happened. His initial comment was something like: oh my gosh, we have to get this fixed, we'll call Matt and get the stuff moved and let the boss (Jarod) know. Matt was asked (by John) if he used the hose bib during his work, and Matt said yes. He was the only person who could have left it on. My Dad / Laurie never use the outside hose. Matt was incredibly regretful and Laurie says he kept apologizing and said it made him sick to his stomach to walk on the waterlogged carpet in the finished basement. Soon John called Jarod to let him know what happened. Then (per my conversation with Laurie) upon learning of the situation, Jarod (already en route) he called John on the way to the house. Per Laurie, John's attitude changed drastically and he didn't say too much more. Jarod spoke with his two guys (John and Matt) when he arrived and all of a sudden EVEYRYTHING was different. Jarod took some moisture readings and explained that this would have to go through OUR homeowners insurance. He said "This was vandalism" "It wasn't our fault" "You need to contact your insurance company and they can come out and figure out what caused the flood in the basement". We were needing a new roof and found United Contracting Group via a link at the Owens Corning website for a Platinum Preferred Installer. I called and Judson answered and was available to come out that day to look over our roof. He checked out the roof and sent up a drone for the estimate. He emailed the estimate right away and the price was very competitive to the other bids we received. The shingles and supplies were delivered on the scheduled day. On the day of the install, it was forecasted to be 113 in early June, so the crew arrived at 4am, they did a great job communicating with us on any issues and they were completely done by 2:30pm. The old 2 layer roof was completely removed, several pieces of plywood replaced, new underlayment and shingles done-all in one day. The crew also did a great job of cleanup. I identified the interior leaks in April, and I was faced with getting roof work completed before the monsoon season kicked into high gear this summer. In May, I had the privilege of meeting Joe B. and the United Contracting Group. Remember, Joe had to drive 140 miles from Phoenix to keep the initial appointment in Flagstaff. Not only did he show up on time, but he sat down with me and my wife and explained the entire insurance process from filing the claim, working with 3rd party field adjustor/inspectors (one failed to show up to the appt) and what I could expect in terms of either a roof repair or a completely new roof. Fortunately, I was approved for a new roof with Joe's help interfacing on my behalf with my insurance company. It's said that sometimes the little things can make the biggest difference. That is how I feel about the United Contracting Group and Joe B. In June, on a Monday morning at 5am, I awoke to several contractors already on my roof. An entire roofing crew and Joe B were starting early. They had to do a complete tear-out of the old roof plus install my new roof. Additionally, United agreed to repair several sections of old, rotted facia boards before the new roof could be installed. This really helped me as I did not have to coordinate an additional contractor to perform that work. That was huge as I don't have the bandwidth with other life responsibilities. That tireless crew did a 13-hour day onsite plus a 280-mile round trip commute. Think about that...it makes you believe solid work ethics are still out there! When I say Trustworthy, I mean integrous. -They really do Care ab about their customers. I had storm damage and later found out fire damage (from a neighbor's house fire) to my Cedar Shake Roof. They handled all the Insurance Company Interaction and Details. I Live in a Neighborhood, The Groves of Gilbert with a VERY Difficult Architectural Review Board, biased and subjected to THEIR Personal taste. Yes, you need to get their approval even when it is an Emergency to have the tarp covered Roof Replace. Due to the Emergency Situation of my Roof, I did not have 7-12 months to replace the Cedar Shake Roof which has to be imported from Canada. In addition, due to the Wild fires on South Montanan and the Superstition Mountains, it is Extremely difficult to get Home Owners Insurance It took over 7 weeks to Get the HOA to agree on a Cedar Shake Substitute- I had to have a Structural Engineer Inspect my trusses to Prove that my house was NOT structurally sound to support a Tile Roof - the only approved substitute for the Cedar Shake (Even though the HOA allowed 2 Steel Roofs to be installed) *** Thank goodness for Riley and Thomas... I now have a beautiful Professionally installed Composite Roof which looks like Cedar Shake and has a 50-year Lifetime unlike the 18-year average for the Cedar Shake Wood Roofs. Their Crew was diligent, arrived early and work a full 9-hour day. Everyday before they left, they clean up the mess and even used a Blower to get the dust and dirt cleaned up too. Riley and Thomas really care about their installers and had them wear Brightly colored work jacket. It was extremely windy the first few days. I was impressed of the Safety precaution of tethering the installers to the roof. Then we got hit with the 90-degree weather. Again, safety first.... Randy and his team were an absolute delight to have on our roof. We received three bids from roofing companies, and theirs were a couple of thousand higher. As we are an elderly couple, we have to be careful of scams, and one of our daughters looked at each contract. Randy's was the only one that had our hard to find tile listed to keep our curb appeal in our gated community. He didn't rush us either, and we decided, let's go with them. They came out with the material and a garbage container and started to work. It was normal roof noise, and what was noticeable was that there was no yelling back and forth on our roof and no blasting music. This has happened in previous homes we have owned. This is my opinion. I have never experienced more disgusting, unprofessional, unethical, and immoral business practice. In the later part of March 2022, my father made me aware that he was working with United Contracting. Because of his terminal health conditions, he asked that I handle the situation. United was also informed that I was their contact from now on. He had yet to pay anything to United at this point. My father was stricken with a terminal lung disease two years ago. He also suffers from periodic memory loss and significant confusion. He is on Hospice Care and requires Oxygen 24/7 to keep him alive. On April 18, 2022, he was forced out of his home of over 30 years and into assisted living as he cannot take care of himself. I contacted United in the later part of March 2022 and explained the situation. I let them know that my father would be moving soon, and the house would be immediately sold, as such, we may need to cancel the job. The project manager seemed to get angry and flustered. I communicated to him to not go to the property and please stay away from my father as he is confused, and I am the only person he should deal with. United decided to ignore my request. On April 1, 2022, the project manager, in my opinion, coerced my father into endorsing a $35k check over to him. This was less than one week after they were warned and only about two weeks before my father was forced from his home. On April 18, 2022, the same day my father moved out, I contacted the office manager at United and explained the facts. I graciously asked if they could get the roof done in the next two weeks, which would be four weeks since they took my father's money, he said no. In fact, even though I told him the house was being sold (the house was sold 3 weeks later), he said they could not start for at least another 10 - 12 weeks. This time frame was never disclosed. With this, I said we would have to cancel and can you please refund my father's money. He refused a full refund, hiding behind a contract my 83-year-old, terminally ill and seriously confused father signed under what I believe was duress. He did refund about $25k, stating United was contractually aloud to keep the remainder. In fact, he said he was keeping less than entitled as if he was being a good guy. Prior to reporting this, I formally wrote United giving them the opportunity to do the humane, moral, and right thing and refund the remainder of my father's money. They ignored my request. I am not challenging whether or not United has a legal contract. I am challenging whether the contract was legally signed by my father due to his incapacitating medical conditions and, under the circumstances, does United have an obligation to fully refund my father's money? In my opinion, at minimum, any decent person would feel morally obligated to do so. There have now been formal requests submitted to, the Registrar of Contractors and to the Adult Protective Services of Arizona, to review this case. In fact, the very next day, Adult Protective Services found my claim to be credible and have opened a formal investigation. How can they be so ruthless and heartless? Where is even the slightest integrity, morals, and pride? Have they no business ethics and decency? It seems to me (my opinion) that United Contracting Group is being run by Demons from Hell. I would strongly advise to stay away from them, there are plenty of quality roofers. Do not knowing enter into a business agreement with the potential Devil. Note: I am only stating the events as I see they occurred, and my opinion of how wrong United Contracting Group handled the situation. Our initial contact with this contractor was very good. They supplied an estimate, worked with our insurance company and answered all our questions. Sadly, the nice man we spoke to was not in charge of the workers, or the schedule so really had no control over what happened next. Months and month and MONTHS went by. Shingles were delivered according to contractor's orders and sat on top of our roof for over 4 months before anyone even started work. When questioned, we were continually told that either they were working other jobs, or at their other means of employment, or working bigger jobs because they paid more. ???? I stated repeatedly that I did not want nails sticking though soffitt and was assured that they don't do that. When they were done, I pointed out the hundreds of nails poking through the soffitt and in the attic, which now looks like a torture chamber and was told that if I wanted my roof to hold, that's what they needed to do. Please note, my last roof stayed on for over 20 years without 6 inch nails sticking through the attic. In addition, the sides of the house had shingles hanging over the edge and were cut jaggedly. I had to ask 4 times for that to be fixed. The layout looked to have waves and I was told it needs to settle. it didn't settle. :( When questioned. the owner was rude, abusive and after 9 months, I finally quit trying to get anything out of this company and gave up. I understand that no one is perfect all the time, but this company refused to make good on their mistakes. read more

United Contracting Group came to my home, advised we had roof damage from a major storm as had our neighbors, and told us they would provide a new roof from insurance proceeds, at no expense beyond deductible. I worried that our insurance rates would go up and was assured that because the storm was an Act of God, the insurance company could not take adverse action. The insurance claim was denied, we lost our insurance altogether, and now have far more expensive insurance--and the roof is still not repaired. Thereupon, United Contracting Group asked me to sign an open-ended agreement with a third-party appraiser. When I asked a number of questions, United cancelled our contract. They did a fantastic job on our repairing our roof. The superior quality of their work was validated when it rained the week after. I ended up getting rid of the drip buckets since they were no longer needed. I also wanted to give a kudos to the Project Managers - Collin Kettering and Gilbert Mejia. They were the deciding factor in why I picked UCG. I decided to trust them during this process and my trust was well placed when I authorized them to engage with the Insurance company directly on my behalf regarding my damage claim and they eliminated a lot of bureaucratic red tape that every homeowner goes thru when they file an insurance claim. Collin and Gilbert were very responsive and went thru the tedious task of going thru their quotes line by line with the field adjuster and submitting the necessary supplements so we can get best dollar amount for the repairs needed. The insurance company ended up paying more than their original payment estimate. I would say to any potential customers looking to get their roof repaired or anything roof related, pick United Contracting Group, they are an excellent customer centric roofing company and they deliver superior service. When a microburst pulled our roof off, I had a number of companies come out for estimates. There were some special issues with our roof: we have a brand new air conditioner and solar panels on the roof. Riley from United Contracting Group took care of everything. He worked with my insurance adjustor to make sure everything was covered and coordinated the removal and reinstall of our air conditioner and solar panels.
