This was never clearly communicated to me, nor was I given the opportunity to remove them properly myself. Because of that, I feel my ability to make informed decisions was taken away. I only reached out to Adam directly later, after another contractor told me the closet could have been saved and that the removal was "unnecessarily destructive." Whether that's true or not, I'll never know. because I wasn't given the chance to find out. To clarify, the note about the built-ins wasn't hidden in "fine print," but it was only mentioned once in the "Other Notes" section. It was never discussed verbally, by email, or over the phone, and it wasn't included in the detailed action items. I don't think a single mention buried in a notes section qualifies as meaningful disclosure, especially when no one pointed it out or explained its implications. Perhaps Adam does. Lastly, the other points raised, like the quality of the closet materials, water damage, or insurance support, are not relevant to my concern. I contacted a few different people, but Mark was the first to be willing to make it out to us that same day. After checking out the damage, he put my mind at ease and gave us the rundown of his plan of running a few fans and dehumidifiers in our utility closest and in the crawlspace. I asked him a bunch of questions I had, and he answered each one with ease and helped me understand what was going on. They took away the dumpsters when filled, workers were respectful of both our property and ourselves, and they kept the worksite clean by straightening up every evening. When the project was done (we are 95 percent done), I saw them out with a magnet to pick up loose nails and screws, as well as sweeping up debris. Quote was separated into different areas: 1)Drywall, mud, tape and finish for paint in mud room,paint 2)Repair damaged drywall on ceiling in kitchen, paint 3)Repair damaged freshly on basement stairs,paint Every step was itemized and had the price next to it so if I thought paint was too much, I'd be able to remove that option. At the end, you pay for any items they needed to purchase to compete your job. I opted for all three items to be completed and also asked for additional things to be added throughout the projects (trim, baseboards, crown molding, paint) and they accommodated every aspect (with additional cost, of course). 2 guys were here for about a week and they were both extremely respectful of the property (booties, cleaned everything, busted ass)..they even asked to use the bathroom every time even though I don't think that was necessary (there was a language barrier of Ukrainian/Russian, so made it a bit hard to know closet meant bathroom lol). They took out the original floor- tile and mortar bed, all the way to the subfloor. Then they re-did everything, added a curb (we had curbless before), and raised the sliding glass doors which had been installed too low.
