We have had conferences with the coaches and have been very active during our kiddos practices and games. We never complained or raised a red flag and worked with the team and the administration - for instance last year when my daughters team did not have a dedicated coach for all of the year- we all just took it in the stride and worked with the coaches appointed- even though the girls have to adjust and learn the style of multiple coaches in one year. We were never ever told that our daughter was not doing well or would not make the team. Infact, we were always told our daughter is doing great. It came as a big surprise to us when she tried out for this year and did not make it. We were so confident that she would make it, that we did not even sign her up for try outs with any other team. Once we came to know she did not make it at East side, we scrambled and tried her for another team- so glad she made it cause she loves to play and this is the only form of exercise she gets. We are really disappointed that she did not make the team. Over the 5 years she had grown with the coach and the team. Her not making it is a bigger reflection on the coaches, the team and the East Side administration. It is a shame that East side, after 5 continuous years with them cannot create a player who can get selected in their own team selections. We are even more disappointed that we were never made aware that our child was not doing well even though we are such active parents- right there in the field for all the practices and the game. We could have ensured she got all the additional support she needed to do better- if she was not doing well. The icing on all of this is that we did not even get a mail explaining anything when we sent a mail expressing our disappointment to the administration. So much for sportsmanship and team spirit and enjoy and grow with the team etc etc!!!

This club only cares about winning and not developing their players. We were excited when our…read more8-year-old daughter made it onto the Premier A team but that excitement faded as we watched her play an average of 15 minutes per game (the most she ever played was 23 minutes for ONE game and during one tournament she basically sat out more than half the games). The starting players, however, consistently played for more than half, if not the entire time. To add insult to injury, her coach was offended we would dare question her about playing time and was rude and aggressive in her correspondence to us. It's a shame that the Gunners are like this because we would have loved to have stayed on. Go to Eastside, Crossfire or PAC NW. Wish we had listened to friends with kids on those teams. They turned down offers to join ISC to avoid coaches who treat their players and parents like a stepping stone for their own winning record. The other clubs actually try to develop ALL the players on the team. We are at PAC now and all the players take turns playing different positions, they look to pass, and they play equal amounts. Even though we took a pretty heavy financial hit for leaving midseason, it was worth it to see my daughter's self-esteem rise again.

I play for Gunners now as a u18 and also played when I was much younger on a u9 team. I love their…read morepossession style philosophy and their coaching. Gunners trains good quality soccer, not just fouling or kick-and-run. And, the club has good opportunities for both low-key fun soccer and for high level academy play. It's a really great club for youth in the area!
