This is, indeed, an A-OK little park, located just a stone's throw from the Montlake Bridge. It…read moreedges right up to Portage Bay at the eastern edge of Lake Union. It's about the size of a football field and pretty level, which makes it a good place for flat, grassy pastimes like playing fetch with a dog, throwing a frisbee, lawn bowling, whatever.* There very often seem to be small herds of kids playing here under adult supervision. There is street parking nearby, though somewhat limited because this is a one-way residential street. Much of the view from the park is actually obstructed by the Seattle Yacht Club, which I suppose is fine if you want to watch Thurston and Lovey go get into their boat with Gilligan and Skipper...for the rest of us, there is still an ample amount of shoreline that looks out onto the lake, and some that even wraps around to the Montlake Cut. Facilities are limited...a bench or two and some garbage/recycling cans, but no shelters or bathrooms. It's basically yer no-frills little park that has a nice view and gets plenty of afternoon and evening sun during the summer. It's small, but rarely crowded...a good place to eat a picnic and watch kayaks, float planes, etc. *If you are a goose, this is definitely a good park for the goose-y pastime of eating grass and then going to the bathroom (#2). For the rest of us: watch where you sit.

S-Class has been a great fit for our family. The coaching is genuinely high-level, led by a former…read moreOlympian, the only one coaching foil in Washington. The club runs a sister site in Vancouver, and our fencers can co-train with their fencers including Canadian national team members and NAC champions. The coaches are focused on real development rather than just running drills and collecting fees. They actually care whether each kid is getting better, and they tailor what they do to each fencer. Our son has improved incredibly since joining with the coaches taking the time to understand him as a fencer. While the Washington program is new this year, the fencers are already posting results and are among the highest ranked in the Pacific Northwest. What really sets S-Class apart though is the culture. Families are here because they want to be, and you can feel it at practice. Older fencers help younger ones, parents are friendly, and the whole atmosphere is supportive without being soft. S-Class actually feels like a community, not just a club you pay to attend. Highly recommend if you're serious about fencing in the Seattle area.

Half #7 for me. I…read morepicked up my bib the day of the race. I don't live in WA (was visiting Seattle for Labor Day), Seattle and Redmond are about 30 minutes away from each other... I didn't have an hour or so to spare unfortunately to go to the Expo. BUT - there were so many vendors around the day of the race. I got an awesome free water bottle, bag, chap stick, hand sanitizer. Lol - I was really excited for the water bottle since it showed the ounces on the outside. If you're like me or just too lazy to go to Redmond before race day, be sure to get to the Bib Pick Up tent area early. Very happy I did. About 20 minutes before the race, a HUGE line formed. I think maybe we started a little late due to it. Got a thin material hoodie as a shirt. I like it. I'll definitely wear it one of my colder running days! I don't think there was other swag. Overall course: Pretty much flat. If you're from Atlanta, it'll remind you of the Belt Line, but with more scenery (no buildings, etc). The atmosphere/view of the entire race felt so nice. Literally it was just the trees, small creeks, great weather, etc. Hills were minimal. Beware: there are also non racers on the course as well. The miles were very well marked. Great water stations. Not a ton of crowd support but that's OK - I like chill races. And as always, thank you to all the Officers for helping and making sure no one got hurt!
