This location is small - one window. But very under-utilized. I find that the Haymarket PO is always to busy - there is usually a long line. So I've started planning my trips to the PO as part of other trips to visit either the Vint Hill or Broad Run PO's. He told me that barely anyone comes in to this PO. I boxed and mailed a package, mailed two letters, and bought some postage stamps. Great service!

Both are small and underutilized, but service is always fast and friendly. They do not offer all of the services that the larger branches do, but for what I need, they are perfect. Please keep in mind that these small facilities only have one or two employees, so they may close an hour for lunch. Always check their hours before going around lunch time so you wont waste a trip.

It's an interesting little post office for a few reasons - it sits on the side of the road all by its lonesome little self; it is the first country post office I can ever recall seeing with a security fence around the front door (see the picture attached to this review); and the little receipt printers they are using must be 15-20 years old. I went in earlier this week to mail a package that needed to be weighed for proper postage - I decided on a whim to try out the Broad Run PO instead of the Haymarket Post Office - where there is ALWAYS a line and usually only one or two postal clerks. It's a few miles farther out of my way, but always a pretty drive! Well, I was the only one at the Broad Run PO! The clerk was sitting behind a desk in the back when I arrived. I asked him if they get much business - he said yes at times they do - he went on to say that they get customers from Haymarket, The Plains, and Warrenton (as well as the surrounding Broad Run zip code). When I asked for a receipt, that old receipt printer was so very loud and slow - it seemed like it took 2 minutes to print my receipt (it was actually less time than that) - I was somewhat amused and entertained by the fact that after all these years - the same good ole equipment is still functioning and good enough for a country post office.

To the owner: charging $2 just to tape a customer's box sends the wrong message, especially to repeat customers who consistently support your business. I understand businesses have costs, but a few inches of packing tape is a minimal expense that goes a long way in building customer goodwill. Customer loyalty should matter. Policies like this make long-time customers feel nickel-and-dimed rather than appreciated. A small courtesy for repeat patrons would create far more value than the $2 collected for tape. Your employees are fantastic, so it is definitely managerial. Now I know why you're at 3.1 stars on Yelp as of the writing of this review. I hope you'll reconsider this policy. It's the little things that determine whether customers continue choosing your store or take their business elsewhere.

First, a white woman I interacted with, who appeared to be around 50 years old or older, had absolutely no sense of basic manners or respect. She told us to for our appointment, which was fine, but the way she spoke was rude, dismissive, and disrespectful. Her tone made it seem like she was talking down to us. It was shocking to see someone in a public-facing role behave this way. I regret not noting her name from her badge. Second, when my appointment time came, I was assisted by a white man named Collin. His attitude was just as bad, if not worse. He acted as if he owned the entire USPS location, showing no courtesy or professionalism whatsoever. His behavior toward customers was unacceptable and reflected a complete lack of respect, mumbling in his throat to make you guess what he is saying. 0 knowledge of interaction.Extremely nonsense guy I have ever had experience. He was acting like you are asking a favor to get his service. This kind of conduct should not be tolerated in any workplace, especially not in a public service setting where people are paying for essential services. The administration needs to take serious action and hold these employees accountable. The only positive note from this visit was an employee named Michael. Although I did not personally interact with him, I observed him greeting every single customer with a smile and speaking in a very respectful and polite manner. He stood out clearly and set the example that others should be following. Overall, this location seriously needs better management, training, and accountability. Customers deserve basic respect. My one reason for leaving a positive rating is Tim. In my 3 years of using this location (PO Box and regular shipping needs), Tim has been the only employee who has consistently provided me and other USPS customers with exceptional service. He greets you with a warm smile, remembers your name, and is always willing to go above and beyond to assist you. He has demonstrated himself to be courteous, professional, friendly and readily available to answer any questions you may have. If you happen to get anyone else at the counter, good luck! I had to ship the old one back to them. I applied the shipping label they provided and all I had to do was drop it off in the same shipping box and The UPS Store handled it - no charge and no fuss. I will say their faxing costs seem a tad on the steep side. I know they are a business and need to make money. I had an 11 page fax to send out today - and I guess the charge is $1.00 per page - as I paid $11.00 and change. Might be time to consider buying my own dedicated fax machine! In any case, the folks working here have always been prompt and courteous in assisting me!

It would have been one thing had the location been super busy...but I was the only person in the store. They could have taken the 30 seconds with their tape gun in front of me and sealed it. Even had they said we prefer items to be presealed before you walk up...but since you are here and buying product here you go.
