Mailing purchases home... in Houston, Texas... Since my niece had to mail a couple of boxes home, I decided to mail some of my shopping items home, too. I asked her to bring her tape, scissors, and marking pen - for me to borrow. This Houston Post Office was not empty. There were a few customers - one with some questions. My niece mailed her boxes quickly while I assembled boxes and packed them. The sharp clerk heard me ask for her tape and told us that there's free tape at the end of the counter! Yippee! We stuffed my two boxes, paid, and left. I completed two Mailing labels and received a receipt with tracking information and approximate due date. Thank you for your service! read more

I still use the post office because I enjoy sending cards to my friends and family. Unfortunately, I have been to this location several times, and each visit has felt uncomfortable. It always seems like the staff would rather I were somewhere else. They act like they do not want to help, and the attitude starts the moment I walk in. Everyone I have interacted with has been short, unfriendly, and clearly annoyed, which makes the whole experience unpleasant. I honestly do not understand why it feels this way, especially on a Friday when most people are in a better mood. I used to come to this post office when I lived downtown. Everyone here is professional and willing to assist with anything. I had a card that kept coming back. I brought it here, they looked up the address and saw it was real. They took off the bark code that was placed on it and my friend got the card. I love this location in the heart of 3ward however due to influx of townhomes and condos many refer to this area as museum district too. I really liked how the clerk told a customer that she can't just bring a none service animal in the post office and let him roam without a leash due to city ordinances. The lady in her 30's tried to get an attitude but it was nipped in the bud when customers began speaking out with comments like I'm allergic to pet hair and another elderly lady said she was frightened which I said is understandable since this dog is unleashed and the owner would be fined if reported to law enforcement. This location always has the latest African American stamps and collectibles which I adore. The lobby is always neat along with fast friendly customer service from the window clerks! I cake in to mail a package out of state (post office is always cheaper than fedex and UPS) and needed extra tape that was given at no extra charge since ai was mailing priority with additional insurance since this was an autograph jerseys. The station is decked out for Valentine's and of course Black History month brings located in historical predominantly black area since during segregation ppl of color were confined to specific areas of the city aka discrimination. It's Black History Month and I came to pick up the new hip hop stamps which are phenomenal unique and hopefully inspires the younger generation to continue to write and mail letters which is essential to proper english and written correspondence that is often lacking in the digital age! As a child of a USPS Vet 35 yrs and counting I always tell my mom how her suburban location is lacking convenient hours as well as in diversity and holiday decor like this location. This had been my neighborhood post office for several years. I have never spent less than 30 minutes waiting in line at this location, pure agony. The most people that have been working the front I have ever seen is only two. When picking up a package they have the regular special window for pickups, so you don't have to wait in line with everyone else. They have posted hours of when this window is open for use, however my experience with it has been very confusing. Every time I have been to the post office it has been after the window hours. First visit I waited in the regular line to pick up my package, upon arrival at the desk I was informed to next time use the window, um ok. My second visit I walked right up and rang the bell for someone to come to the window, and I was instructed to wait in line by the person at the desk. I just can't get it right! Every time I get the same reaction from the worker at the desk no matter who it is, the "why don't these people get it" scoff. Well maybe because even though hours are posted your use of the window does not make any sense! I recently went to the University location on Richmond to send off my passport for renewal. It's a different world over there. They had three people at the desk helping the line move, an additional person behind the desk instructing people in the passport needs, another in the lobby taking passport pictures and another at the window getting packages. That's 6 people working directly with the public at this location! What is going on? It only took 10 minutes to get to things done and I even had to go through the line twice because I had to take my passport picture. After visiting the other location I really wish my neighborhood post office would just be closed down and put out of it's agony if it's going to be supported in this manner. Oh and by the way my mail delivery also is terrible. I often get second notice bills before I get the first one. There are at least three people that used to live at my residence that the post office refuses to stop sending me their mail and I've been here for years. They also never attempt to deliver packages to the house. I have been home several times when I receive the notices they leave, but they have never rung the doorbell. read more

This is my neighborhood post office so I end up coming here a couple times a month. It's usually not too busy, but people come in spurts. They generally only have one person working the desk, so if you happen to go in at a time with higher traffic, you're going to be in line for awhile. The workers are not what you would call speedy, but they have always been very friendly. If you have a package with prepaid postage, just set it on the counter next to the registers. No need to wait in a long line unless you want a receipt. The priority mail supplies is pretty bare most of the time, so don't expect to find it there. Better to order it online and have them deliver it to you if you can. What they do have is mostly located in the middle of the room at a kiosk type thing. They have some pens and tape at the registers if you need them too. Also they don't stock postcard stamps. Unless you're interested in buying them 100 at a time, that is. It's not in the best area so if you go to drop mail off at the blue bin at night, stay alert. Many times I've seen homeless people settling in for the night next to the building. read more

I've been here a few times and I've always had a good experience. The ladies up front are always so kind and helpful.

Miserably rude and impressively unhelpful. It's a mixture of "How dare you walk in!" and "We can't help you because we don't want to help you". I frequently need to visit this location in person and it is increasingly frustrating. There isn't a single employee who has treated me like another human. They scoff at those of us rushing in before 5pm close after we also just worked full days and have to leave work early to make it in time. I once had a conversation that began at 4:59pm (after waiting in 5 minute line) and once it hit 5pm the associate told me "we are closed now so you'll have to come back". They appear to enjoy stonewalling and rejecting people while they smile and greet others. If you're in you're in and if you're out you're chopped liver. Please, if you hate your job this much, please quit or demand that USPS do better. DO SOMETHING other than $h!+ on all of us day after day. read more

Terrible service! I only went because it is close to me but the treatment is horrible every time a man attends me who is always at the first window, always seated, always rolling his eyes, he hardly wants to speak, super lazy! And when he has to attend to a Hispanic person, I have seen that he is racist towards Hispanic people, he acts rudely and always does it as if he is doing a favor. No sir! we are paying for a service!!! This person has been working there for years and I have always seen him do the same thing! On the other hand, there is a woman who is kind and respectful to everyone. The good thing about all this is that I had to go to another USPS which is at 5210 Griggs Rd Houston, TX 77021 and everyone there is super nice and they like their job, they are polite, respectful, friendly and professional. eEspecially a man named Mr. Shelby. After going to the East German gulag that is my local station and seeing the sheer look of despair on those faces, I left and made the 10-minute drive over here to find a largely empty parking lot and only one customer in line. Solomon, the lone clerk who is about 50 and tall, was chatting up a patron but quickly motioned me over once I was queued. Friendly, quick, and professional, he asked me if I wanted any insurance or next-day service, which I declined with the comment that I was in no delivery rush. Without missing a beat, he asked if I was sending a book or DVDs, which I was. To which, he said that they could knock the rate down from $8.18 to $3.16. Sweet! At the end, I asked about flat-rate boxes and he pointed them out to me. Then, in a lower conspiratorial voice, he said he didn't tell every customer this but there were some leftover red boxes from Christmas but you could put a few hearts on it and you'd be ready for Valentine's Day. I had to laugh at that - then I asked him if he was on commission. Overall, I think he's making the most fun out of his rote duties, which is admirable. The building is one of the newer types but all 4 stars really are due to Solomon (the postal clerk) and his quick wit and service. Done in 5 minutes. Now this is how to run a post office! read more

Great customer service is clearly not a priority here. It is not uncommon to hear loud conversations taking place in the back while the line of customers grows to ridiculous with one or no service persons up front. A little improvement would go a long way. read more

The one-liner: It's a neighborhood post office that's not usually packed where you can get to know the workers who are generally helpful and friendly. Story time with Lee: This post office is located on Almeda where 59 crosses over (just off the corner of Eagle across from Peggy Park). The post office facility is nothing special. It has a drive-thru mailbox to drop off letters, plenty of parking, PO boxes, etc. It's really just a neighborhood post office. I ride my bike to it once or twice a week. If I'm just dropping off letters, I usually go through the drive-thru. On occasion, I need to do some postal business (buy boxes, packaging, special postage, return receipt, etc.). I lock my bike out front to the flag pole (there is no bike rack) and head in. What makes this place nice to visit is that the workers are pretty decent people, knowledgeable, friendly, and fun to interact with. There's usually some banter, conversation and jesting among the people in the line and those behind the counter. It's a neighborhood kind of place. People know people. I've never had a piece of mail lost by these guys, and they always get me the best rates for my packages and shipping. Here's the problem. The government wants to close this post office down. It appears that the property is prime real estate. They want to sell off the property and close a neighborhood institution. So stop in and show your support. Mail a letter. Buy some stamps. Do something before we lose a valuable public service. The more this post office is used, the less likely it will be closed. read more

This is my local post office. Just moved into neighborhood in December. It's now June and all of a sudden I am getting all this mail that is not mine. I've left it for postman and today they just added more mail on top even when I wrote it's not my mail. It should not be my job to go around the block delivering mail to my neighbors that is their job. This is not mail of a previous owner this is blatantly wrong address. I incorrectly addressed a couple of online purchases that were definitely going to end up at the wrong place. I've never had to wait in line for more than 15-20 minutes here, and everyone is always always always super friendly. It's not in the best neighborhood. I hear that they are closing post offices. I guess that like everything else at the post office, closing is a long slow process. This branch seems to be gradually fading away. No Saturday hours. The grounds are not kept up. Most of the time a single window is open with painfully long waits. Little tolerance for users who English is a second language. read more
