I am shocked that this kind of terrible customer service is acceptable. Came on Friday April 17, 2026 and the only man working the front could not have had worse manners if he tried. The line was not overwhelming long and everyone was patient and friendly yet he was short, rude and, insulting to everyone who asked a question or for help. If I could give this place 0 star I would do so. Costumer service from the employees is very poor. My husband and I went in for a passport appointment for misled and our son. Once we stepped into the passport area we were practically yelled at by one of the employees. The women was very rude to begin with. Once told why we where their she said something under her breath. After 10-15 minutes passed by another employee came out and was very hostile about my husband and our son where their and was even more upset to why we even showed up, he kept saying that they had no appointments for the day. When I preceded to let him know that I was called and had a voicemail from their store he was more upset about the situation. Needless to say I will never be coming back to the location. read more

Located at the corner of Richmond Avenue and Yupon Street, this US Post Office had exactly what I was looking for: Flat Rate Boxes My niece wanted to mail things home to friends and family. She has packing tape, but no boxes. I told her that the US Post Office provides a great service... FREE flat rate boxes which can hold any weight! I went to another post office before coming to this University Station, but that location had nothing. This post office was quiet, empty, and didn't have air conditioning... Because it was a Sunday morning. However, there still is a self-service station where you can mail your packages, weigh them, label them, and place them in the secured Dropbox... Packages will be ready to go on Monday morning! Thank goodness this post office had four sizes of Flat Rate Boxes so my niece can have a better idea of how many she needs and what sizes! The small box ships for $8.45 and the large box is $21.10. There are two styles of medium boxes and they get sent for $15.50. Thank you to our postal workers... You're reliable and loyal! read more

I came in for a stolen passport. There was a person in front of me. It is by appointment only and they were very much on time. But the female at the counter is beyond rude! She goes so quickly over things that when you ask a question she says I've already said that. You're supposed to fill out some thing that she hands to you and she's telling you what to write so quickly that you can't write it down and when you ask what she just said, she's walking away telling you what you need to write down to get your original birth certificate And your passport back. My suggestion would be why don't you just have something post it at the end of the counter that states how you want it written exactly then you don't have to get all irritated when somebody is hard of hearing or because you're mumbling or because you're just simply in such a hurry or being rude . I would give it a 0 if I could. Specifically because the employee, Debra, was SO RUDE not only to us, but to all 5 customers before us that we witnessed. She was so short, condescending, unkind, and loud to each and every person, regardless of their question/need. Each time, everyone just looked around like "what is her problem?" We were there to get a passport and had everything in order and she said we were missing one thing. I showed her the printout of the checklist from the government website and that it doesn't require that item, and she said, "I don't care what the website says!" On that note, we left. That was our first and definitely our last time visiting our local post office. I'm happy to drive further to not deal with someone who hates their job. As an aside, a second male employee was there when everyone was waiting in line and he chose to walk to the back without helping anyone. And no, it wasn't lunch break time at 10:50am. My suggestion - look at all the other recent reviews and go elsewhere. And think of all the other unsatisfied customers who had a similar experience but don't post reviews online. read more

Not to be confused with a post office in the Yukon, which would not be a US Post Office, but a Canadian Post Office, says the Geography geek. This is actually a pretty good post office and getting in and out of here quickly isn't too bad. It's better than a lot of the other locations around here. It's kind of small but then so is my butthole and nobody really complains about that. Beware if you go to this post office. I ran in to pick up my PO box mail and was inside the building for less than 60 seconds. When I exited, my car window was shattered and my handbag which held my wallet, ID, cell phone, etc.... had been stolen out of my locked car. There were 8-10 other customers there at the time, people walking in and out, my car was parked right in front of the door, but no one saw a thing. According to the employees and customers who were there, this kind of thing happens there "all the time" and yet, there are no cameras on this government building! Two customers who were there at the time informed me that the same thing had happened to them while they were parked in that same lot, so how often must theft like this occur here? Yet, it appears they refuse to install a camera facing the parking lot to deter crime. When I informed the employees what had happened, one behind the counter -- rather than express regret or compassion, snapped with disgust in her voice, "There's a sign out front that says not to leave your valuable in the car!" I had not seen the sign, but it is high up on a pillar (I am 5'2") and the print is small so I missed it. Regardless, I obviously should not have left my purse in the car even for that brief less-than-a-minute errand. The employees of this post office behave as if they hate their jobs. In six months, I have never seen one of them smile -- not once! When I have had to go to the counter to mail a package or buy stamps, I am addressed as if I am an annoyance. I filled out a "hold my mail" card when I went on vacation, but the mail was delivered to my home the entire week I was gone. I moved to Houston -- Montrose -- six months ago, and this theft at the post office is the third time I have been robbed, including having my bike stolen out of my garage. According to the airtags I had in my handbag and wallet, they both, along with my cell phone appear to have ended up at two different taco trucks in the area..... very interesting. read more

Packages were not delivered on time quite often. Mails from different houses were dumped in our mail box so I had to deliver them myself.

Not the best customer service but this is the closest post office to me so I deal with it. Tons of parking in their lot so that's a plus. They always seem to only have 1 or 2 clerks so it's not a surprise that they're always so cranky and rude. That being said, don't be surprised if there are slow, long lines. I've recently discovered the one self-service kiosk (after the clerk yelled at all the customers in line to all be patient or else use self-service) - and I was surprised to find it so easy to use. If you have a small enough package, definitely check out the self-service kiosk and the machine will assist you step-by-step in printing out a label to affix to your package and there's a drop-off adjacent to the machine. Print it out, pop it in, and boom- you're done. Way better than having to wait in line and face unwelcoming clerks. read more

Worst USPS I have ever been. They want me to send my package without a receipt, I have to ask multiple times and they did it in such a bad manners. I'm from Florida and I need it a small piece of tape for the label and they have put it for free in Florida, here they made me buy a $4 tape. read more

If you need photo services for a passport, DO NOT use this location. Made an appointment here to get a passport for our infant child, and specifically chose this location because it lists it has photo services, BUT upon arriving for our scheduled appointment we were told their camera was broken and that we would have to run to the local CVS to get a photo. So we drove to the local CVS to get a photo taken, and low and behold their camera is also broken. Thankfully we were able to use our own phone to take the picture and have it printed, but this experience was frustrating because we could've ultimately taken the photo at home and had the photo printed ahead of time. The CVS also informed us that the Post Office's camera has been broken for 3 years. The post office staff was also rude and unfriendly. read more

There is a postal worker at this location that is so rude!! He wasn't wearing a name tag, but he's bald and has glasses. I've had two different encounters with him, and he just seems like he hates his job and every patron that walks in the door. He wants to argue, doesn't follow USPS guidelines that I read straight from the USPS website, and just has horrible customer service all around. I know USPS is a great company to work for.. One of the best parts about being a lawyer on a civil cause of action is the sweet, sweet satisfaction of drafting that letter letting someone know you are ready to sue the fuck out of them. Then it all goes sideways again when you need to send the letter CMRRR and you don't have an assistant because of the economy (or a personal robot butler because science is more concerned with dick pills for old white Republicans) so you need to come here. I am forced to use this Post Office due to it's location. The service is so low I hate to even give it 1 star. The negative attitude from the front counter remains the same. The employees are not welcoming and act just the opposite. Groaning if they have to move, rolling their eyes, huffing and puffing, and the standard why are you bothering me look. If you live in Montrose, you are at the mercy of this US Post Office. Never in my life have I had such an awful experience with USPS. Almost every time I order something, my package will be delayed. The tracking will say that "Customer was not at home will redeliver". I call absolute BS. I am at home, the lazy people here just won't knock on the door. Not to mention that I have had packages left in the rain and be completely destroyed. It's like the DMV, no matter how much you complain, nothing will be done. You just have to play the game. If your package is expected in two days, lets say via amazon, don't be surprised if it takes you more than a week. Open Mon - Fri 9 - 5, they offer P.O. boxes, passport applications & photos, and all the usual USPS stuff. It wasn't too busy on a Wednesday morning, definitely looked busier later in the day. I wanted to ask the passport worker Theresa a question (all the priority mailers are right next to her) while she was waiting for a customer to fill out the paperwork, but she never made eye contact with me. They have an electronic machine you can use to weigh and print out your postage and pay by credit card, but no one was using that. I'm not intimidated by technology, but after going through the steps, I was asked whether a 4.5" x 5" sticker would fit on the front of my priority mailer and I marked "no" and the machine continued on as if nothing was wrong. I was nervous about making sure the postage and stickers were all correct for my mail to reach its destination in 2 days so I went into the line for a human helper. She (not Theresa) was quick and efficient. Also helpful to know - the drive-through drop boxes are off Richmond behind the actual post office building on Yoakum. read more

HORRIBLE! Awful service. The lazy carrier decided to not use a gate code to enter my apartment complex and leave my package where it belonged (ON MY DOORSTEP!!!), which resulted in my package being left outside of the gate and stolen!!! DO NOT USE THE USPS EVER. I lost a brand-new coffee maker and irreplaceable family heirlooms and THEY DO NOT CARE!!! UPDATE: Unfortunately, some online retailers don't allow you to select the carrier and you are stuck with USPS. This is my local post office, and I don't really even need to use it very often. When I do, they are reasonably quick, informative, patient and kind. I always feel good about my experience with them! Three stars for a post office is as good as it gets!! This location isn't all that large, but there're often 2 clerks running registers (Pinch me!! TWO clerks at a post office!?!) and the staff make a credible effort at friendly AND helpful (Ok, now I know I'm in the Twilight Zone!) If you think about it, the Post Office is pretty amazing. They deliver mail for pocket change to just about anywhere you want fairly quickly. This office can sometimes be slow, and they've made a few errors, but I'm willing to cut them a little slack. I also have a box here. The automated machine goes down quite a bit, so I never rely on it. Oh, and they can be really rude to the people that deserve it. It can be pretty entertaining at times. There are few better values than USPS. For the cost of one stamp your letter almost always arrives at its destination across the country the day after tomorrow--amazing! But the great value they offer means they don't have a ton to spend on staffing and signage and customer service training and things like that. I recommend doing research online to figure out what service you want before you come to the post office. Or even buy the postage online and just come in to drop it off. There's also a self-serve kiosk at this location that can handle most transactions. Easy breezy! read more
