When the DPD says you need something like that caprice doesnt bode well for one who dabbles in it. You follow the rules. I dreaded going to the Post Office. The one I usually go to on Livernois near Michigan is crowded and there are turtles that move faster than the lines do. So when I was out getting ice cream, I discovered this little branch. The walk from the bus stop was longer than I waited inside here. No lines, and the clerk was helpful in processing my request without batting an eye. It was so fast that I was able to catch the very next bus down Grand River. I was wholly impressed. As I said before, there are some hidden gems here in the D and this is one of them. If you need to mail something consider this branch. Lots of parking out front too. I even like the design of the building. That says something. The one thing that the government got right. If only Congress was like this we'd have a better time of things.

Overall, this one's super nice. I think it's the main location because it's where you have to pick up packages for the surrounding neighborhoods. I've been here before, but realized the last time I was here that it's not entered into yelp, so I added it. I like this one for a few different reasons. For starters, its huge, clean and well stocked. Plenty of post office boxes for rent of varying sizes along with plenty of parking. The lot is clean and easy to get in and out of. They also have a separate drive for the mail drop boxes and a walk up blue box near the entrance which I use from time to time when I'm here. The place isn't any faster then the others, but considering that this is a severely depressed area, it stands out as a gem. When I'm here, which is sporadically, I never have to wait that long. I will probably be here again in the future if I need to get packages for the office, or just drop mail off for the boss man.

Additionally, we've noticed that our longtime mail carrier, who served our route for years, is no longer delivering our mail, and there have been several different carriers over the past few months. While I was in store, there were customers coming to send packages, purchase money orders, and even some with passport appointments. These ladies were extremely kind. When a week passed with no sign of that important piece of mail, I spoke to the Postmaster at the Hazel Park Post Office who said she agreed with me that this was a "VERY important issue." I also left a note for the carrier on the mail box array in my apartment building to pay attention because an important document addressed to me was misdelivered! Two days later, when the SS Admin mail had still not arrived, I spoke to the Hazel Park Postmaster again. This time, she was much less concerned. She told me to click the "did not receive" box in the Informed Delivery notification and follow the instructions. I did that. I also went to the USPS website and filled out a form there, as well. In addition, I phoned the SS Admin and explained that they needed to send another copy of the document they had sent earlier because the PO had misdelivered the first one. To date, I have still not received this important notification (or a copy thereof) from the Social Security Administration which should've arrived 19 days ago because the Hazel Park Post Office is run by an INCOMPETENT POSTMASTER who either can't, or won't, do her job! I'm old enough to remember when misdelivered mail was a rarity. Now misdelivery is commonplace! Today, I will see if I can phone the US Postmaster. If not, I will write a letter to him. Unfortunately, my experience at this Hamtramck location was extremely disappointing. The employee I dealt with, Tina, was dismissive and unhelpful from the beginning. I asked a simple question about getting a label, and instead of assisting, she made the process unnecessarily difficult and confusing. I was told I needed to purchase tape, was charged for it, and never even received it. When I asked for a receipt, she did not provide one. At that point, I decided I didn't feel comfortable continuing the transaction. I asked for a supervisor, and the number I was given did not work. When I requested that she contact a supervisor directly, she refused. Another employee nearby did not step in to help resolve the situation either. Instead of trying to fix the issue, I was ultimately told they would not ship my package after already taking payment. The situation escalated further when I was threatened with the police over a situation that should have been handled professionally from the start. Given the volume of shipments we handle every month, reliability and professionalism are extremely important to us. Because of this experience, we will not be using this location moving forward and will be taking our business to another shipping facility. I won't lie here, this building is disgusting. It stinks, it's dirty, the elevator had seen better days. I questioned myself about us waiting for him outside, but we went along anyway. Our business took but a few minutes, however, our first impression of this place remained. It's just NASTY. I have no comment on service or personnel. I would not care to ever have to go there again, but unfortunately this is the building we were assigned to.
