Ive never been to this post office before but because the one where my p.o. box is had their system down I came this way. Well when I passed my package over to Ms Mayo, she told.me the label I made THE DAY BEFORE for an express package was invalid. Mind you I spend thousands on express shipping and have ever had a problem I usually make labels for everything and drop them off the next day or if I'm at the downtown location in the evening She told me I would need a new label, which makes absolutely no sense. Once the package gets scanned and accepted that's when the "1 day express" shipping begins, not when I make the label USPS you really need to train your staff to know updated rules and not just make stuff up on the spot. I'm on my fourth post office because the next one I went to was CLOSED (the weather is not that bad). I'm very over the staff, having never had to pay for postage, telling me made up rules and making what is supposed to be convenient more of a hassle. read more

After breaking my leg I finally got a return package to this USPS location & the clerk took my box. When I asked for a receipt she said "i can't give you one" because the prepaid post date was several weeks prior ( b4 I broke my leg) mind you the return business allows returns for 3 months! Was told I couldn't get a receipt for dropping off a package with pre-paid shipping (depop order) because "the label was printed yesterday and has to be printed on the same day it is sent out to get a receipt" which is not true because other USPS locations always provide me with a receipt even when the label has been printed days prior. Just not a good place. The person at The front desk told me I could not get a receipt for a package I was dropping off. Come to found the it was not true. I went to another post office and got the receipt right away. When I called to question why I was sent away. She denied it was her and she lied stating she the policy changed and she did not know. The customer service is way past poor .. the lady at the customer service desk had a nasty disposition and is very rude to the citizens that come in . When you ask to speak with a supervisor , she pretends that she's going to get a supervisor for you and never gets the supervisor . She will come with a yellow telephone inquiry for you to fill , out & when she thinks you're gone , she will rip it up and throw it in the garbage & your complaint never gets put into the post office . A customer complained about their package not being delivered to their home after 3 or more days of waiting. This is the fourth person to say the same exact thing. The Jackson Park Station Post Office is a mess. The workers are inefficient, unhelpful, and have bad attitudes. It's currently 3 people working including the manager but yet no one is up front to keep the lines moving. I've been here for 1hr and 15 min waiting for a package that was suppose to be delivered to my home yesterday. After getting to the window Felicia, one of the workers, tells me she can not find my package in the carrier therefore she'll have to wait until the woman who delivers to my building gets into work. Due to previous bad experiences with service the only reason I ever go to this post office is when I have to pick up a package! Today the need arose and I got there at 11.45am. Seeming it says online that it closes at 12:00pm I was surprised to see all the people in there. However I wasn't surprised to see only one person serving! Quite a common occurrence. I guess looking back it was a tell-tale sign, however from the beginning I couldn't help but notice how many people were just standing around at the back not even in line, especially seeming it was so close to when I thought it was closing. After waiting over 30 minutes in line and not being kicked out I was told it actually closes at 12:30pm. Just when I was called to the counter and told the lady I needed to pick up a package, another lady from behind called out that she could take pick-ups only. So, even though I had waited all this time in the line the postal clerk I was seeing made me go and join the new "pick-up line". Absolutely ridiculous seeming there was only two people left behind me and anyway I had waited my turn and it was her job to now help me. After she refused and made me join the other line I had to get behind another 4 people and waited for another 15mins while this other lady looked for everyone's packages! Seeming I had waited so long I took my driver's license out and put my purse back in my handbag to help speed up the process. By this stage I was in the post office for almost an hour! I happen to notice that these guys were still standing around at the back and that it was strange. Having been so frustrated and over with the whole experience I was so happy to take my package and get out of there. Just as I went to leave through the door (holding my big box) the man in front lets out a "stop, stop, my hand is stuck....step back, step back" so I of course step back and conveniently bump into two of the guys that were standing in the post office the whole time. Still holding my package and with my handbag over my arm I make sure the man is okay?!? He then looks at me and says "it's fine, it's fine, it was just my ring". Serious Chaos! Words cannot even express how happy I was to be in my car and getting away from there. Then just as I get into my garage I go to put my I.D. back into my purse and realize its missing. I race back to the post office and of course there is no one left there as it's closed however I could see that it wasn't on the floor or anywhere I could see. I realize then that it had to have been taken when I bumped into the guys. Now I know it may have just been coincidental but there was just something strange about the guys standing at the back the whole time and then leaving when I did. Another reason now why I really don't like this location! When I got home and went through all my cards I started calling to cancel. In the short-time they had raked up quite a lot of purchases on every one of the cards. Things from Wal-Mart, fast food, liquor to even rental cars! This tells me that they obviously were working together seeming they were able to make so many purchases in such a short period of time. Seriously not the way I wanted to spend the rest Saturday. Such a hassle. So to all - please be aware and conscious of your surrounds, the people around your personal belonging. I for one know that I certainly won't be going back to this location after today's experience and hope it doesn't happen to anyone else that does! read more

Called them earlier today and was told the regular carrier is off and that a substitute would deliver it today. Well, guess what? NO MAIL AGAIN!!! All I can say is this office sucks but let me count the ways. I am not getting my mail because someone has a similar name as mine that use to live in my apartment and no one seems to be able know how to fix the problem. I have gone up to the office a several times filled out paperwork, talk to my mailman as well as called. I have been in my new place for almost 6 months and I have only received a 1/3 of mail. I even asked questions that seem to stump each employee one by one. I have tried to be understanding and patient but that isn't working. This P.O. Is the best around! There's never a line and the Mngr came to the window to assist the clerk with parcel pickups. The place is always clean and neat. I only get my mail since I was told to ensure my last name stayed on the mailbox. I appreciate this policy to keep down identity theft, since I've been down that road, and it wasn't nice! I have lived in several places all over Chicago, and this post office has to be the worst one yet! Like most other post offices, yes it is understaffed and wait times will be long. So expect that at this post office as well. As a frequent Amazon user, I often receive packages in the mail. Within the first six months of living in this zip code, I have had five packages that were not delivered to me. When I go to the post office to talk to someone about it. I receive one of two responses. One response is: please leave your name and phone number and we will get back to you. Apparently, if you go at certain times, the person who is able to track packages is not in. Do not believe them when they tell you this. I have never received a call back. The next response is: Go to the door over there and ring the bell and someone will help you. If you do this, it may take a few minutes for this person to ring the bell. They purposely put a sign there saying to not ring the bell multiple times. This person may or may not find your package. Their recommendation is usually just to tell the sender that the package was lost and ask them to re-ship. One time I went in and actually spoke to a manager, who told me that the post office should be something I review when moving. What? I asked her if I could have my packages held instead since they tend to lose so many. She said that I would have to open a PO Box for that. Ridiculous. I am not going to pay b/c of your ineptitude. Bottom line, this post office is horrible and even the manager admits that the workers are not doing their jobs correctly. I no longer have packages delivered to my address in fear that they will 'lose' them. read more

Very UNPROFESSIONAL and LAZY. This post office NEVER deliver my packages and give me the run around all the time. It has been 3 different times where they put I requested my package to held, which I never did, and when I go to pick the package up they tell me it's out for delivery. I had a package that should have been delivered Saturday April 7th they scan it no access. I had the same problem receiving my passport. Monday they dont even try to redeliver. Also Monday I go online and request redelivery for Tuesday. Tuesday I come home and mail has been delivered already. I call 7734933125 the station and get immediately put on hold. I stay walking distance from station so I continue to hold and drive to station wait in line and the clerk can't find my package. She even gets the supervisor who put me on hold to come to window guess they didn't recall putting me on hold. (New Supervisor with phone in hand) "Sir Im trying to get in touch with carrier who had that today"...hilarious. If I could give NO STARS, I would. This place is ridiculous. For a week I didn't receive any mail. I have informed delivery so I know what's coming to me everyday. So I go to the post office and they tell me my mail is on the street already. One of the workers came out and started explaining to us(the customers)what was going on. Apparently the post office has allowed their employees time off with pay if it's COVID related or if their kids are being home schooled so no one is coming to work and they have no carriers to get the mail out. Something needs to be done because bill collectors don't care about any of that! So when I don't get time sensitive mail THATS A PROBLEM. Another thing, I was waiting on a package...been tracking it ALL week. Was supposed to be delivered by 9pm May 29th which was a Saturday. I'm waiting around and about 11'ish I receive a text saying my package couldn't be delivered because the delivery area couldn't be accessed....REALLY?! Since when have you all had a problem accessing the building or ringing my bell, which no one did because I was home all day. Now I have to wait until Tuesday because that's the next business day since Monday is a holiday. I'm so over them. They really need to do better, HONESTLY. read more

I had to call this location about an undelivered package. The phone rang and rang. I finally get a person and she put me on hold immediately. After twenty minutes she returns to the line with an attitude and answers with, "WHAT"? I was immediately thrown off. I lost my words and it caused her to speak even more aggressively. I needed to get to my point. I explained about my package not arriving and have a tracking number. The more I talked the more she talked over me as if I did something wrong by calling in a concern.The person appeared unconcerned and rude. She claimed she would look in the matter and call back in 24 hours. I got no call back. The calls cannot be monitored because she talked to me so bad. Her pitch was practically on street level. I believe the hold time of twenty minutes was to get me to hang up in discouragement. I held in there and I got no resolve. Customer service is lacking as well as the service. I have called the complaints department as high as I could go. There has been no recourse to eliminate this ignorance that is across the board. The carriers are leaving peoples packages on the floor that is not fitting to the mail box. This is a FEDERAL OFFENSE. The US Post Officer employee is breaching their on policy and procedures. It is shameful and disrespectful. Many people are unaware of what to do to complain. That keeps the service poor and under standard nation wide. Chicago mail is the worse I have ever dealt with. Though I do not live in the area for this post office, I do have business dealings with people who live within Jackson Park's service area. My experience has been poor -- they have lost or delayed 2 out of 5 mailings within that last six months. On one of these occasions I sustained a bank charge to stop money on a check, and I'm wondering if I'll get it back in the return mail (since they never delivered it). On the other occasion the letter took about 12 days until delivery and I am from Chicago. From the people who live in the service area I have heard that with high frequency (once per week) they receive someone else's mail. read more
