Actually, I would rate it a 0, but it wasn't part of the selection. My husband went in to have 4 large envelopes mailed along with some letters. He returned with one of the large envelopes. I asked why they didn't take it. He said the woman that waited on him was rude and told him that the zip code was not correct. He said that she was behind security plastic, and he could barely understand what she was saying. How insensitive this employee was. My husband is a senior and has a little trouble seeing and was treated with no respect. She didn't even bother to look-up the address to find out what the zip code would have been. As it turns out, the address & zip code were correct. She was lazy and unconcerned about serving her community. I'm not surprised that Bobby Rush and Senator Durbin called for changes to be made at this facility in 2021. Avoid this place. I'm not going back there! read more

The postal worker has the key to my front door, but leaves it unlocked after she puts the mail in the mailboxes. Anyone can just walk in. They could at least lock one door. It's not the best neighborhood and they are leaving my tenants vunerable. read more

It always is a toss up because you don't know if it's busy , . If I had to choose I would say go earlier in the morning if you could because it probably is slower during that time. Unprofessional and trashy! I made an appointment here to get my 2 month daughter's passport and when we showed up on a Saturday morning, there was only 1 person working. Once we reached the counter, I told her we're here for our appointment and she's like I'm not sure if we're doing passports today. Huh? Your website says passports can be done these hours and most importantly WE HAVE AN APPOINTMENT! She then went on to say that the person who does them isn't here today. How unprofessional that someone doesn't show up to work, and since they didn't why didn't you alert everyone who had an appointment so that I didn't waste my time taking my 2 month old daughter out of the house! This is so ridiculous. But sadly this level of unprofessionalism is expected at a post office in a black community. Different carriers often. Don't take the job seriously. They do not deliver the packages when you are sent a text that they are out for delivery. They put in the system that they attempted to deliver the package, but no access to area, when the area is the same place that the mail is delivered. So you have to reschedule the delivery. Sometimes more than once. I am so fed up with this post office. It needs New management. Maybe it takes Washington DC to make some changes. read more

Mail and package delivery are inconsistent depending on the carrier. My route had a regular carrier for years and he was excellent; I rarely received mail that was delivered to me in error, and if the carrier had to leave a package at my door, he did his best concealing the package from public view. Now there are different carriers and the service varies widely depending on who is delivering that day. I've had packages left halfway up my steps in full view of passerby. If my neighbor hadn't witnessed the delivery and taken my package into his home, it would have been stolen. I've also had packages scanned as delivered (I know this because I use tracking via Amazon), but the package wasn't actually delivered until days later. I've had packages left by my door when I was home and the carrier didn't bother to ring my doorbell. When I am home and receive mail, I notice that most of the carriers are on personal cell phone calls while they're delivering mail. In addition to being inappropriate, this is also a dangerous practice because mail carriers are sometimes robbed on their routes. I think that a carrier would want to be alert and aware of their surroundings while delivering mail in my neighborhood. Today I answered my door and a very nice carrier handed me a package that according to USPS and Amazon's tracking was delivered on 3/12. Today is 4/2! I have the suspicion that another carrier scanned the package as delivered in order to meet the Amazon Prime 2nd day delivery guarantee and intended to either deliver the package the next day or perhaps not at all. The service at the branch office has improved with lower wait times and more courteous service, but the issues with delivery are unacceptable! read more

I keep saying that I'm not going back to this post office but it's so convenient to go during my lunch break. The service is the same each time....SLOW!!! There was one lady working and she told one customer how she truly hated working there and only had a few years until retirement. He thanked her for her help and she ignored him. He essentially said, "it's good to say thank you" when someone gives a compliment. There was another lady there but she kept asking if anyone just needed stamps and she could take them. WHY??!!! I had something delivered from Amazon. I gave specific instructions on delivery. They rang the bell once then left immediately. Left a slip for pick up with next day delivery attempt. They lied on the second attempt of delivery. Someone was home all day. No postal worker came. No slip was left but the tracking was shown as second attempt. I called Amazon, they said to contact USPS. The package is at USPS Location for pickup. Location shows that they open at 9:30. This is my second day attempting to pick up my package. I am standing in line that's wrapped around the building at 9:50. We asked employees who were walking into the building to to let them know that we are standing and waiting since 9:15 for them to open at 9:30. Still no one opened on time. I have to work at 10am. So I was unable to retrieve my package. This is unprofessional and such a disgrace. Poor customer service. I will be calling corporate and reporting this madness!!!! I'm also going to report my experience with Amazon as well. This is UNACCEPTABLE!!!! read more

PLEASE! I repeat PLEASE DO NOT! Order anything from Amazon.com to get delivered to you're home in that cottage grove area, if you work downtown where Postal service is good, please order your belongings there, at least if Amazon delivers it UPS Surepost you can get it and sign for it. I'm not sure why they are using that because if the chances of you not being home they turn it over to USPS. That USPS on 77th and 47th is terrible the people there are unorganized, very rude, and ghetto as hell and do not answer, the phones, or are willing to help to the point of customer satisfaction, they do not deserve jobs and I hope they all burn in hell or be buried alive. I recently order some clothes from Amazon to get deliver to a family member home, USPS claimed that they left a notice on the door because they could not deliver it. That's a lie a family member is always home all day everyday, once I asked my family member he told me he received all the mail except my package that day they claimed they left a notice for. I checked Amazon and got the USPS tracking number and called the local postal service I called literally 10 times a phone picks up and hang up,I then called 1800-ASK USPS and filed a complaint and inquired about my package. They told me to call the local P.O again I did and a ghetto clerk answered I wanted to know about my package in detail and had the tracking number in hand she assume she knew all the details yelling and being unprofessional and rushing me off the phone without looking at my tracking, that's file complaint number 2. AGAIN I called the 1800 ASK USPS because the clerk gave me misleading information regarding my package when USPS tacking.com told me something different. Finally I reached out to Amazon and whatever they told them they confirmed with me my package will be on hold. A long line, a long wait, and again ghetto terrible service that took a 1/2 to get something simple and oh by the way my wife and co workers that live in that area is also having issues with them as I'm typing. Please pay your bills over the phone and get you're things delivered to your job. They need psychological help and to get retrained, and stop hiring young black people who don't want to work I say that because I'm black myself. This Post Office is extremely nasty. Paper is always on the floor and the garbage cans are running over with filth. The clerks hardly ever put a pink slip into your PO Box notifying you of a delivery. The lady that wears the glasses with the long hair has poor interpersonal skills. I put a request for my mail to be held beginning april 28, 2016. Believe it or not mail was still being delivered to my address. I also stated that I would pick up my mail. When I went to leave my form for the mail to be held. No one came to the window, but you could hear people have conservations in the back of the room instead of waiting on people.
