I popped into the Key West post office to mail a couple of postcards while on vacation. The total came to two dollars and change and I was paying with a five dollar bill. Unfortunately, the postal worker behind the register had no change in his drawer and had to take 10 minutes to find a supervisor, get assistance with the process, and refill his drawer. Normally I don't really need to review about the U.S. Postal Office, but this one is a bit different ... This is probably the only post office in the U.S. where chickens are roaming EVERYWHERE and they are ALWAYS constantly crowing ... from morning to early afternoon. Feel free to approach these creatures and take pictures or selfie with them. Other than that, 15 minutes customer parking ONLY and the post office itself is business as usual. read more

Located near Duvall Street and easily accessible with ample parking and nice air condition indoors. My experience was ok. As I walked in the middle of the day, super hot and humid and pleasant to be in air condition. I noticed there was a line of 8 people ahead of me. It is was quite a wait, I waited 15 minutes and there was nobody at the counter and finally someone had shown up. I had to leave, I asked locals in town why the post office has only one person at the counter and their response that's Key West. Long lines and 1 person. I guess when you have Island mentality and not rushing. Prior to getting in line, I looked for a stamp machine to avoid the line and stamp machine was down. Full service post office with plenty of parking, bike racks, chickens and P.O. Boxes. The staff are friendly, but it took a while for another clerk to come out and help when the line was already a little long. I had a square shaped package to mail and of course there are no square boxes, but, they not only helped me with the "filler" packing material so the item didn't bounce around, but they found a smaller box that was behind the counter to use! It was still the same flat rate, but I prefer not to waste a huge box on a small item if I can help it. Every Christmas I say the same thing. I have never been to a more efficiently run post office anywhere in the country and I've lived all over. There are always plenty of counter agents to help, the line goes quick, everything is efficient and the entire staff is as friendly as can be. In most cases going to the post office can be as miserable as going to the dentist but the Key West post office is a true joy. read more

As an avid postcard sender, I've had the opportunity to meet many post office employees. The lady I met here was very friendly. She seemed rather cool and collected, despite the fact that she had apparently spent 10 or so minutes trying to help a German couple send a package back home. (I witnessed the last minute or so.) The post office is very spacious inside. The location had so many different stamps to pick from I was a bit dumb-founded. We stopped in for pretty much the same reason any other tourists would... sending postcards. They weren't very busy so we were in and out. I'm giving them high marks for friendliness. I called in advance just to ask if they carried postcards so I could make one trip. They don't for the record, but the guy on the phone recommended a few places in the area and invited me to stop by to mail them off. When we arrived they were just as friendly. If you're on a trip and would like to send a postcard or two, this place is uber convenient and you'll be in and out! read more

Pros: Really good po box layout, many po boxes, easy access Cons: Its the single worst lines I've ever seen in my entire life. It wasn't just a lack of tellers but a overall lack of motivation to help. If I get a slip I need to get a box at the post office I think I will just let them send it back! read more

Fml. Not one to leave reviews but had to share how bad the postal service is in key West. My girlfriend order a package that required a signature upon delivery not a problem right? Especially since we are sitting at home during the Coronavirus outbreak. My girlfriend was receiving tracking information from the vendor she bought her glasses from so we were excited the day was finally here. We had both our patio door and I front door open so the window could blow through our house not important but it aloud me hear when the postal work arrived. I told my girlfriend the post office was here and we went outside only to see the truck pull away with no delivery. So I immediately go down to check the box thinking could she left in the lock box. At the same time my girlfriend receives an additional update from the vendor saying unable to deliver because no one was available to sign. The post office worker left a red tag in the mailbox that you would normally have on your door. That's when it clicked she didn't feel like taking the elevator to my fourth floor apartment to get the required signature. My girlfriend went online to begin a complaint with the post office. The next day again my girlfriend receives the same message from the vendor saying that they once again tried but no one available for signature. Again we were home with doors open still confining ourselves for protection against the virus. Today we go to the white street location. Doesn't get any better here. The workers were over rude to a young girl that need help with her P.O. Box and then to my girlfriend. Telling her it was her fault she was not there for delivery and maybe next time stay at home and wait on it. The irony was we were worried the package was on its way and we would miss it again when they had no intentions on delivery it or it would have been in truck today on its way to our apartment instead of sitting collecting dust with some rude hateful workers. read more

This is the worst post office I never went! All the post offices I went were very nice, and workers were very friendly and helpful, expect this one! I got there at 4:45 pm with a Russian old lady who was lost. She asked help, and I took her to this post office. She couldn't speak English well. The worker named Debby( I saw her name tag)was very impatient to her. The Russian old lady wanted to send cards to her family, and asked to buy some envelopes. Debby told Russian old lady that all the envelopes were on the shelf. It definitely was a lie, because there were only big envelopes on the shelf. The Russian old lady asked Debby many times she just needed small envelops for cards, but the answers were the same. Debby was too lazy to find regular, normal and small for this Russian old lady. It was a very very misleading thing to do! I didn't know if this Russian old lady sent cards for her family. The story got worse. Debby told me she could start my shipping. I told her I had not finished my forms. I had tow international shipping forms to fill, and I finished one. I tried to write my the other card quickly, but Debby told me "you can't write a "letter" on your card! It takes too long! I can't send your the other card. Go home, finish it, and come back tomorrow!" A letter? I just wanted to write wishes to my parents, and it was less than five sentences! It was OK that she didn't understand my language, and she thought it was too long. However I got post office at 4:45pm, it still opened. It would be different if I got post office at 5pm. I almost finished my second card, and then she told me she couldn't send my card, and they closed. I argued with Debby how she could kick me out when I came here before they closed! I asked to speak with other worker. It was surprised me she said" it doesn't matter who you talk with, I can't send your card, and I won't get trouble!" And other worker said" I have been worked here since 8am. I'm not here for waiting for you!" Wow! Waiting for me? I think they get something wrong here! They work here, post office pay them. This is their job to help people send their letters. I appreciate post office workers' hard work. It can be a frustrating job, but how can she kick out customer like this! Unbelievable!!! It was 5:06pm when I got out of post office. I checked my phone. They worked really hard to get home early! I can tell they really don't enjoy working there.
