Total incompetence at this location. Package to be delivered on a Friday. Was at the store at 4am. Sat there all day and extended delivery to Saturday. Saturday the clowns ship it to Fox valley. I live 5 blocks away, I could have walked up and picked it up. I will start refusing to buy items delivered by the goods at the USPS. Shut it down, let the private sector handle this. read more

First off, I like to preface this negative review by saying that I worked as a Letter Carrier (yes, I actually carried mail)for many years in the City and I am very well aware of the inner workings of a Post Office. While there, I quickly learned the importance of delivering one's mail as quickly and efficiently as possible, especially Express, Priority, 1st Class and 2nd class articles. A career change caused me to leave the USPS in order to pursue my new endeavor. I recently moved to New Lenox and quickly discovered the folks at the New Lenox Office do not share the same beliefs that was drilled into me during my time with the Postal Service. I had an issue with my carrier creating ruts in the gravel shoulder next to my mailbox. These ruts were created by the carrier's erratic driving (slamming brakes, screeching tires at take off), these 4 ruts were found directly in front of my mailbox where the letter carrier stops the vehicle to insert mail in my mailbox. Because of this, the carrier refused to continue to deliver mail until I fixed the ruts (which the carrier created). I purchased one ton of CA6 gravel to fill the Ruts on 2 separate occasions. On the 3rd time, I refused to repair the Ruts to the gravel shoulder of the highway. After not receiving my mail for a few days I phoned in my complaint to a postal supervisor. The issue fell upon deaf ears. I then voiced my complaint to the New Lenox Postmaster in person and their stance was "do you want to get your mail or not?" Well, I guess you can imagine what I had to do in order to restore the delivery of my mail. If you go out there now, you will again see the Ruts are forming again. Since my complaint, Express Mail, certified mail, or any other article requiring a signature does not even get an attempt delivery, a 3849 Delivery Notice is my new treatment vs the letter carrier attempting to make contact with me. Express Mail does not even get re-attempted which strictly contradicts protocol when I was a carrier (we attempted to deliver Express on Sundays & Holidays). On Yesterday's date, I went to the post office to attempt to get a package the United Postal Service (Not US Postal Service) redirected to them for final delivery at 9:30am (from Rockdale, IL). I was hoping they will be able to give me the package since it was after 2 pm. The manager rolled her eyes and said they "did not have the manpower" to go in the back to see if they could locate it (I was only looking for an attempt on their end). Not a difficult task considering the amount of parcels the post office receives from UPS. In closing, I'm disappointed that the US Postal Service would even employ people with such poor customer service and lack of personal commitment to their customers when taking into consideration that for the past decade the USPS has operated in the RED, 5.1 BILLION DOLLAR LOSS in 2015 according to USPS (https://about.usps.com/news/national-releases/2015/pr15_060.htm) & while depending on Tax dollars for financial relief in order to stay in business. I love my town's post office! Love it! This is not hyperbole! I actually look forward to stopping at the P.O. I adore the employees--they are fast & efficient without being rude. One day when I actually needed to get a P.O. box, Heidi (she's the blonde who's fluent in Spanish--how cool is that?!?) didn't go through the "do you need any additional packing supplies or a post office box" spiel, so asked her to do it so that I could say, "Why, yes, I WOULD like a P.O. box!" Seriously, Heidi made getting a P.O. box *fun*. The Frankfort P.O. is very pretty inside and out, but I always ship my packages from New Lenox. NL has the nicest employees. I adore them all (especially the occasional sightings of Terrell, who helps out in New Lenox but usually works in Frankfort and has the most spectacular smile). read more

I mailed a priority box from Florida, it arrived at the New Lenox post office by 10 am on a Monday and was supposed to be delivered to an address before 8 pm but never showed up, this is less than an hour away from this post office. It is apparent to me that this post office has bad service when delivering is quicker from the Southern states versus a delivery in the same state and less than an hour away. Why charge priority prices when post offices like this can't even deliver on time? read more

The people who work here are the best, always pleasant and helpful, with all the bad things people say about their P.O, I can't complain about ours, They do a fantastic job, and our mail carrier, you can set your watch by him, it's nice to know when your mail is going to be there. He's within a half hour every day. great people read more

I disagree with all the negative feedback with the New Lenox Post office. I go there at least once a week and I have never had a bad experience. There are some post offices like the one in Orland when you walk in, you have to greet them and its almost like your bothering them. Aside from that I am always greeted with a smile from New Lenox. Laura is one of the staff members and she is great! Always on task. Very friendly and helpful. The rest of the staff is awesome too, they are always willing to take the time to help you out. Sometimes there is a line but it moves quickly. They also deliver my mail and I have never had any complaints. Plus they also started greeting cards and gifts cards, so that makes it more convenient. Sorry to say that the management that I had contact with - Jessica, and Val, are both arrogant and terse. The rest of the staff have always been thoughtful and courteous. I had difficulty with the online processing of my P.O. Box, and stopped in at the earliest opportunity I had which was a Monday morning to pay my balance due- and was informed there would be a 67% additional charge because I had not made it by the prior Saturday. When I asked for a supervisor, the supervisor was rude and uncooperative, and did not wish to listen to my problem with the non functioning web site. It's sad that in this day, when customer service is held to such a high degree, that a manager would not be empowered, as she said "she could not do anything about it". Why have the manager if they can't assist a client in a reasonable manner. read more

The New Lenox Post Office is absolutely terrible in every respect. Since I moved to New Lenox my mail has been misplaced, lost, delivered to neighbors down the street or not delivered at all because it was "overlooked" for weeks. The staff is inefficient, surly, slow and in several instances literally threatening. One particularly troubled individual is Terrel, who is crude, hostile and short of patience. Terrel does not tolerate complaints of any kind and has made overtures of violence to patrons simply for voicing their protest to poor treatment (I'm not kidding, my wife, son and I were mortified by one of his recent tantrums). He's also pretty condescending for a low-paid clerk. I am a small business owner and prior to moving to New Lenox, I relied heavily on the US post Office to deliver packages to my customers. Now I deal in bulk with UPS. I can only hope that insolvency and or privatization of the US Post Office is fast approaching. read more

The five stars is for the clerk Laura...other than that, this isn't the greatest post office. Lines are usually long and 50% of the clerks have no idea what they are doing. And forget even asking the supervisors for help. Hopefully you are lucky enough to get Laura...she is extremely efficient, knows her stuff and so friendly! She is worth the wait! read more

Terrible service....the only post office in the world that dont give reciept for your pre paid mail with tracking....employee said"we dont give receipts" at the same time balling up the little piece of paper that is the reciept and proves you mailed it.....leaving you at risk,if your shipping for ebay!!! I live in Royal Meadows Subdivision. Today I was driving down the street with a bus parked on one side and a car on the other side. I was 3/4 past the bus, when the mail carrier started coming after she delivered mail a short distance behind bus. She proceeded to drive even after seeing me. She pulled right up in front of me and wouldn't move, I waved for her to back up and she still wouldn't move. I waved again and she stared me down and finally backed up, giving me very little room between herself and the car parked on the other side. I waved thank you and she still stared at me with anger. In the last two years, service with the mail carriers has been terrible. I didn't even bother calling the Postmaster General, as I tried two years ago and even wrote a letter. The Postmaster did nothing concerning the issue we had and didn't respond or call in regards to my letter of complaint. I usually never complain, however something has to be done.
