I had a very mixed experience at the Chandler office. I went in for the initial assessment because my legs were waking me up at night. Apparently, the FREE assessment did NOT include the ultrasound, which is the true assessment tool. The doctor was reasonably personable in the inital visit, but hurried. The explanation of the services recommended was a blur, and not readily understood my non-medical professionals. He handed me a brochure and left. The best part of the experience was Mo--so kind, informative and personable.
I did schedule the recommended procedures, which were VERY PAINFUL. I worked for a doctor for 7 years, and I am well aware that you have to WAIT for local anesthetic to take effect before you begin the procedure. They did not. The initial procedure did help. I had several and then a reassessment, at which time more procedures were recommended.
When I made the appointments for the other procedures, the receptionist said that they were not yet pre-approved by my insurance company. I asked to LET ME KNOW if the approval was not given. No notification was received. I had the remaining procedures, which were denied as "medically unnecessary" by the insurance company. Generally, I am NOT in favor of insurance companies coming between doctors and patients to dictate what treatment can or can not be given. But in this instance, perhaps my insurance company was right. (I ended up paying far more out of pocket than I should have! and UVC was unwilling to adjust the bill at ALL, even though I would have cancelled additional procedures had I been notified that they would not be covered.)
In the end, my right leg fared best--but it took 4 months for the swelling and inflammation to resolve, and the overall result is pretty good. My left, however, probably did NOT need the treatments. It has been a year, and I am STILL dealing with swelling and inflammation. I had a lot of pain for months afterward. ALSO, I had an appointment after the last procedure for followup. I wrote that DATE in my calendar, but forgot to record the time. So I went to my patient portal to check the appointment time, and it was nowhere to be found. Apparently, they cancelled my appointment without telling me, and I suspect it was because they knew they did the procedures deemed unnecessary without notifying me that they were denied.
I am still have difficulty with my left leg. It only began to improve after I learned about nitric oxide supplementation--which HAS helped, but I am certainly not there yet.
I recommend extreme caution with this place. I wish I had gone elsewhere. read more
