We've been thrilled with the final product and the experience of signing with Ouri from day one was a pleasure. This was our first large project and we would undoubtedly hire Ouri again. Project We instinctively knew Ouri was the best fit for us after the on-site consultation. Not only are his reviews overwhelmingly positive, but he's knowledgeable, respectful, patient, and honest, with competitive pricing to boot. He's also a very responsive communicator. We needed some time after signing the contract to shop for materials. Ouri kindly rolled with our uncertain timeline, checking in periodically without any pressure to see where we were at and advising on any questions we had along the way. From the beginning of the project, his crew was respectful, clean, and always checked in with us as any questions came up. The project went smoothly and for one very minor hiccup that came up, Ouri & crew were quick to address without question. And months later, he sent a member of his crew to come troubleshoot something minor, again without any hesitation. Ouriel and his team designed the kitchen that fits my new house perfectly. The house that I bought had a dated kitchen that needed new flooring and new cabinets/countertop. During demolition, I found out that the plumbing and electrical wiring were not up to code. Ouriel presented the issue to me and he worked with me in keeping the project within my budget. I was not planning on doing any sort of remodeling soon but when my place got water damage, I was forced to act immediately. I interviewed and met with tons of contractors. We had the pleasure of working with Universal Home Design on a large project.  Two separate colleagues referred me since they both had such positive experiences, and I valued and trusted their opinions.  The scope of their projects included room additions, and a kitchen remodel, among other items.  So we were happy to meet with Oury, the owner, who gave us a fair and competitive bid for our project. Our scope included the remodeling of our kitchen (including redesign), owner's suite bathroom, guest bath, and powder room; the installation of wood floors; new exterior paint, including the installation of new windows and rain gutters. The end product was amazing! Oury and his team did an excellent job, and kept within timelines and budgets.  There were no hidden costs or big surprises.  We only encountered a minor additional charge to replace an old galvanized pipe that was discovered.  Oury was always available if we had any questions.  In addition, he would confirm items with us, like fixture placement and other details before installing to ensure there was no miscommunication.  When the project was done, we missed seeing him and his team since they were always so friendly and courteous.  The job was also completed during the pandemic, so they wore masks and made sure to clean. These guys just did some tile-work and plumbing as part of a kitchen remodel for my wife and I. We had chosen soapstone for our counter-tops, so had to split the installation into multiple crews, but Ouriel from Universal was very easy-going and kept open communication with Greg from the company handling the soapstone in order to ensure everything was handled seamlessly. If I was to describe my experience doing business with Universal Home Design, it would be "Serendipitous". I was doing research for a kitchen remodel job, wall to wall, floor to ceiling total rebuild. I had used another contractor company for three-bathroom remodel couple of years ago. I planned on using the same company again, but I needed to do my due diligence by getting few bids just for my peace of mind. I talked with half of dozen contractor companies, over phone or in person at my house. First impression and my gut instincts are important to me. Oury showed humility, he didn't brag about how many years he's been in business like others, just focused on my project. He was honest about my request to knock down a wall, other companies said "no problem, if it's not load bearing..." Oury went up my attic (nobody else did) and said, "that wall is load-bearing wall and you have sunken living room and...."; "I wouldn't tear down that wall, it's not worth the investment" I knew then, he wasn't a sales guy but someone that would partner with me to make my dream kitchen a reality. All the companies that gave me their bids had slightly different scope of work based on their feedback and ideas. Oury's bid was fair and larger scope (more cabinet space, counter top space and tile work). 700+ sq. ft. of tile work, 74 ft of linear cabinets, windows, lights, etc. Work started with prep work, move existing refrigerator to my garage. Oury said 6-8 weeks, during the project I added few changes/additions, such as laundry room (tile, counter top, move water line), rebuild my 24 x 10 wood deck, replace 2 sliding glass doors, run a new water pipe to the back yard near dog run. Based on our ideas/vision Oury helped us pick out tiles, back splash, counter top, paint, and some kitchen stuff and I never had to go to the store, Oury brought all the samples to us so my girlfriend and I can visualize it in the house. Here is the best part, all the work I described was completed in 2 weeks and 4 days!!! I am talking new kitchen, dining room, front entrance, laundry room, and a wooden deck. Another thing, I consider to be a nice feature was his crew was awesome, same familiar faces day after day. Familiar and friendly faces are import to me since my girlfriend and her 12 years old daughter was home during the afternoon. I've worked with bigger companies and plumbing guy, electrical guy, tile guy were sub-contractors and I would go days without any progress due to scheduling. I can't state how happy and satisfied I am with my new house. I communicated with Oury by text or face to face on daily bases during the entire project, either Oury or his crew would tell me what was getting done the next day. My next project will definitely be with Oury and Universal Home Design. read more

Ouriel from Universal Home Design converted my detached garage into a studio with a kitchen and bathroom, from July through October 2020. We were referred to him via friend who underwent a garage conversion the year prior. Our original garage was 450 ft. A 94 square foot addition was added on for the bathroom and laundry area. The tile installed in our shower looks incredible! The studio is spacious, and we are super happy with the work that was done! The process from start to finish was organized and straightforward. Payments were made at different steps along the way based on the contract. Ouriel was easily reachable via phone and text the entire time. He answered all our questions and concerns, and got back to us quickly, which is not always the case in contract work. We actually recommended his firm to one of neighbors down the street. If you want an ADU conversion done, we would highly recommend him. We don't have pictures because we had to move all the furniture & extra boxes back into the ADU quickly to prepare for landscaping work on our yard. read more

Ouriel and his crew at Universal Home Design, Inc. placed so much planning and impeccable workmanship in our recent bathroom remodel. Burbank is one of the cities in LA County with really strict building and zoning laws, and Ouriel pulled all the necessary permits and oversaw the project DAILY to make sure we passed each inspection. I got estimates from 5 general contractors, ultimately accepting Ouriel's bid because of his work ethic and made me feel "secure" in knowing that he would deliver on his word/contract. Ouriel worked within my budget and accommodated work that was unexpected--our home is old and a couple obstacles were discovered and handled without stress or too much trouble. His crew was timely, did clean work, and got along so well with my family (I want to adopt Freddie, Tony, and Freddie). Oury and his team at Universal Home Design are beyond the best in the business!!! For starters, unlike most contractors, Oury either answers his phone or calls you right back. I explained the bathroom remodel project over the phone and texted him photos. Within the hour he gave me a ballpark figure for the remodel. Then he came out to see the bathroom in person that same day! He explained everything he would do, how long it would take and exactly how much it would cost. We signed a contract with him that day with a 10% deposit. He helped us pick out the new flooring and offered to pick up the tile for us. As we researched which vanity, mirror and toilet to buy, he was always available to give advice. Once we had all the materials together, he scheduled the demolition a few days later, then installed the new floor and everything else in the exact timeline we agreed on. His team was extra careful when removing old materials and hauling up a VERY heavy vanity. The end product is so beautiful! It went from the worst room in the house to the best! The only downside is that its beauty makes everything else dull by comparison. We needed to get a new rug, towels and bath accessories just to live up to the high standard of the bathroom. Universal Home Design did such an amazing job from start to finish at the 45 unit condo complex where I own a unit and reside on the HOA board. The inside of the building has not been renovated since the 80's and I cannot express how beautiful everything looks. The contractor Oury and his team were very professional and always available when needed. They completed the entire interior painting of the building, including repairing any crack and water damage on the ceilings and walls (because we are right next to the freeway and the vibrations caused cracks in our hallway walls). In addition, we had carpet replaced on all three floors, vinyl wood flooring in the front and back area of all three lobby floors, our garage level flooring done, recessed lighting for 132 lights, and the front steps of our building were repaired and painted with epoxy paint. You can tell the quality work in the contractors and the pride in their job because they were extra clean, very efficient with their time and accommodating to the hours and requests of the building. This was a huge building and a huge project that could have taken months to complete but in all, this company was able to finish way ahead of schedule. It was all completed in about a month, minus minor setbacks brought on by us being indecisive on paint colors and so forth. I think the best thing in a good contractor is communication, and Oury did a fantastic job at keeping me informed, answering any questions, and was always available. We had a major water leak inside a wall between the kitchen and bathroom in my mom's guesthouse. Oury and his team did a great job at designing new cabinets to match the existing ones that were not damaged, installed new countertops, and sink, plus did a complete bathroom remodel. They work fast too! In and out within just over a couple of weeks. This was not a small job, and they managed to work quickly yet still maintain excellent quality. Our foundation was being undermined by erosion and animals were digging under causing several problems including tearing into the HVAC ducting. Universal Home Design came in and dug several feet down by the foundation and reinforced our foundation with rebar and concrete as well as poured new stairs going to back of house and put in a retaining wall. The job took about 5 days to complete and the work was done very professionally. This is not the first time we have used Oury as our contractor. He has been called in to work with us on many projects both big (kitchen rennovation) and small and each time he has been on time, efficient and professional, operates on his word (if he says he will be there on a certain day he will be there), and has a friendly crew that he works with.
