6 month follow-up on my pool service: My pool is wonderful and clean! Again, I HIGHLY recommend this company! They took a nasty green pool and made it beautiful (and are keeping it beautiful!).

Hiring Litchfield Park Pool Service LLC has been an expensive and damaging mistake…read more On July 4, our salt cell failed catastrophically, flooding our backyard. We later confirmed this was caused by their technician overtightening the fittings during a prior service. He even texted us a photo of the giant rusted channel lock pliers he had accidentally left in our yard, which is the exact tool he had been using on the salt cell. That tool should never be used on delicate plastic fittings and explains why both sealing rings eventually cracked. On July 7, just three days later, our main pump began making loud noises. They quoted me $3,027.77 to replace the pump, while another reputable company quoted $2,369 for the exact same job. Shortly after this, we began noticing that every time we swam, our children's eyes burned so badly they couldn't keep them open. I told the company about it three separate times. Each time they said it was "fixed," and each time the kids swam again their eyes burned so severely we had to use wet paper towels and keep them in a dark room. The fourth time, they decided to blame the pump. They had changed the settings themselves to run at 60% or below, and then claimed the eye burning was because of that. But that explanation made no sense. The burning had started before the pump ever made a sound. That was when I began digging into the water chemistry myself. I spent hours reviewing the service reports they email after each visit and realized our chlorine levels had been dangerously high since the end of May, long before the pump noise began. Despite this, the company continued to blame the pump for the eye burning. Even Mike, one of their managers, admitted at one point that they should have been able to bring the chlorine down to a safe level regardless of the pump issue. When I confronted them, the dishonesty became obvious. Mike himself tested our pool and said it was 10 PPM, acknowledged it had been that way for weeks, and told me no one should be in the pool. On the very next service visit, they emailed me claiming it had dropped to 7.5. I immediately took a sample to Leslie's Pools, where their machine read 25 PPM. To remove any doubt, I had my teenage daughter take the exact same sample to Litchfield Park Pool Service's own store. They told her it was 10. Three different numbers for the exact same water: 7.5, 10, and 25. I walked in with all three reports in hand. When I asked Mike to explain, he had no answers, offered no apology, and simply shrugged. Today they emailed me the following, effectively suspending service until we authorize a pump repair: "On July 7, 2025, We reported to you that your pool motor was making Loud Noises. We have reset your Motor RPM to 50%, per your request. This motor RPM is not enough to keep up with the demand and usage of your pool. This has caused inconsistencies in our pool care which prohibits us from working under our standards. Litchfield Park Pools would be happy to start up your pool service once repairs have been made." I did not request that change. When I pushed for answers, I was told Mike is "in the process" of buying the company while the current owner is on a two-month vacation, not returning calls. I left a message for the owner with no response. Mike had previously said he would discuss a refund, but when I called, an employee named Jack said he couldn't comment and admitted he was canceling our service because Mike told him to. Their official email claimed suspension was due to "equipment not working," but Jack said the real reason was that we were unhappy with their management. When I asked him to put that in writing, he refused. Even after all of this, they continue to send me invoices, including charges for August and the first two weeks of September, despite our pool being chemically imbalanced since May and the company having been formally trespassed from our property. Since hiring this company, nearly every major mechanical component of our pool has failed: the waterfall pump stopped working, the heater broke, the salt cell was damaged, the filter was replaced, and now the main pump needs replacement. This company has been deceptive, inconsistent, and negligent. They ignored unsafe chlorine levels, damaged equipment by using the wrong tools, attempted to upsell repairs at inflated prices, gave contradictory excuses, and continue to bill for services never properly provided. We are disputing payments, filing a BBB complaint, and considering small claims court. I strongly caution anyone against hiring Litchfield Park Pool Service LLC. In their BBB response they made several statements that are not accurate, including claims that discounts were offered and that equipment problems pre-dated their service. No discounts were ever offered. The equipment failures occurred while under their care. I am noting this here so the same misinformation is not repeated on other review platforms.
