After I moved to Manhattan it seemed too far to keep traveling the three hour round trip all the way back into the depths of Queens so I tried a few dentists that came highly recommended from friends, and every time I regretted it and returned to Dr. Patel. I have finally accepted the fact that it is really unlikely that I could find a better dentist in the whole United States, even assuming money, distance and time was no object, than Dr. Kevin Patel. First and foremost I feel he does the most thorough, up to date, skilled, meticulous and aesthetic repair on the tooth, whatever it may be, from fillings to cosmetic improvements to root canals. But in addition to that, he is absolutely concerned about patient comfort both mental and physical and always tells you what he is doing and why, and believes in minimizing all possible pain and stays up on the latest in pain management courses. He is very empathetic, a perfectionist, and I don't feel he does any less than he would if he was working on his own mouth or that of his family. Lastly, due to the location, the costs are half or less what they are of the dentists I saw in Manhattan - and I have determined that the double or triple price charged in Manhattan has nothing to do with their having any more expertise than Dr. Kevin Patel, but rather everything to do with simply paying Manhattan rent for the office they are in. So if you don't have 100% coverage for your dental care, and it bothers you to pay an extra thousand or more for nothing but the Manhattan rent (for a root canal or implant for example), I recommend taking the time and traveling out to Dr. Patel. Or if you're local in Queens, the choice is obvious. If Dr. Patel ever moves or retires, I worry for the fate of my teeth.

Ever since becoming Dr. Ye's patient, everything changed -- he has been incredibly responsible and attentive, and I haven't run into any dental issues since. He also kindly referred me to his colleague from NYU, who professionally helped me with my orthodontic treatment. Over the years, Dr. Yep has done my fillings and even my dental implants. The pricing is very reasonable, and the quality of care is outstanding. What I appreciate most is his warm, down-to-earth attitude. They're dishonest and look for things you don't have in order to charge you exorbitant prices. I came here to get my teeth treated. The dentist seemed hesitant in his diagnosis, and the hygienist was even worse. I don't have the best teeth, but I do maintain good daily hygiene. The hygienist recommended a deep cleaning because I had tartar and plaque. The cleaning cost $795. Then the supposed budget coordinator arrived, and the treatment for my teeth would cost $12,185. At another place in the same area, the treatment would have cost me $5,533. Even so, I paid half the cleaning, $395, to start, and they only cleaned half of my mouth, on the right side, both upper and lower. During the week, I got two second opinions from other dentists and called dental insurance companies and plans. The result: I have no plaque, no tartar, and a cleaning wasn't necessary right now. I had a broken tooth, and these dishonest people at Gentle Dental wanted to put a crown on me for $3,050. The other two dentists recommended the following: you have 70% of your tooth still good; it's best to preserve it by getting a filling that, with care, will last and keep part of your natural tooth. Think a thousand times before going to Gentle Dental. I recommend Corbin Dental Bayside. From the moment we walked in, we were pleasantly surprised by the clean, welcoming office, the friendly staff, and the professionalism of the dentists. First, the office is spotless, modern, and exceptionally well maintained. Every staff member was courteous, attentive, and efficient. From scheduling appointments to explaining our insurance coverage and treatment options, the entire process was smooth, organized, and stress-free. Second, it was obvious that the office values patients' time and does not overbook appointments. Although there were two patients ahead of me and two after me, no one waited more than 15 minutes. Even more impressive, my wife came in as a walk-in patient requiring a core buildup and an onlay. Despite her unexpected visit, the staff and dentist graciously accommodated her and had her in the examination room within just 15 minutes of arrival--a level of efficiency and patient care that is truly rare. It seems like they're running the same scam on everyone -- reading these 1-star reviews felt like reliving my own experience. I went in for a routine dental cleaning, but they immediately diagnosed me with gum decay and inflamed gums. Just like others mentioned, the dental hygienist, Everlyn Chen, wasted an hour trying to convince me to get a laser treatment that isn't covered by insurance. They caused so much unnecessary stress, making my gums seem like they were in terrible shape, even though the X-ray didn't show anything serious -- they even claimed I had the gums of a 40-year-old when I'm only 24. When I asked if better flossing could help, she insisted the only solution was the expensive laser treatment, and she pushed $100 shots for each tooth "in case of inflammation." Afterward, Dr. Pinkus glanced at my X-ray, said nothing was wrong, and left without providing any real care or explanation. I later went to two other dental offices, and both dentists looked at the same X-ray and said the laser treatment was unnecessary and my gums were not in serious condition at all. Their approach was deeply disappointing and completely unethical. It's clear their priority is financial gain, not patient health. If you've had a similar experience, consider reporting this to the state Board of Dentistry.
