Weary about leaving reviews on medical offices because everyone's experience is so different. Here's mine: First visit with my toddler. His first ever visit with a dentist. They were FAST. appointment was early 9am so that could be part of it. Almost no waiting to be called back. The hygienist was great with kids. The dentist was nice. They were quick and talked to him the way toddlers need to be talked to. Kind and sweet. He got to pick a toothbrush (BLUEY) and stickers. This place was recommended by our regular pediatrician and I have no complaints. read more

Absolutely terrible place for kids, newer Dentists as of 2025 told me that my 4 kids needed caps and all these fillings that were never shown on x-rays prior or talked about previously from the other Dentists there. Went to get a 2nd opinion and the new place called this place a chop shop looking for $. Nothing UPD talked about was shown on the new x-rays. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS PLACE! read more

Terrible service. Long waits. Poor communication. They reschedule apt, failed to make apt, refused to see me when I was 10 mins late 1 time in 15 years. Lied and said they called in scripts when they didnt, they schedule apt for cleaning g inside 6m window then cancle and say insurance won't cover it. We waited 48 minutes past our appointment time and had the same experience 2 weeks earlier with my other daughter that waited 46 minutes past her appointment time. This is at 9:00 am for both appointments so I don't under how you can get so backed up in such a short period of time. Schedules for medical practitioners needs to be better. Should we just show up 45 minutes late? Is our time not valuable too? They need to do better or just don't over schedule. While I understand this scheduling practice drives profits and accounts for no shows which they probably still get paid for, the wait is unacceptable. read more

Worst place I have EVER brought my child for care. Was referred by regular dentist for a procedure for my 7 year old. First appointment (consultation) the dental student came back and forth to us FOUR times saying she couldn't get the dental history for my daughter, she was calling the incorrect dentist after I even wrote down the name and number for her after the second failed attempt. We discus a treatment plan of four treatment spread out every two weeks. Show up for first appointment and have to pay $70 for laughing gas, not terrible but no one informed me prior, (they have a staff member dedicated to making these calls). Get there and the dental student gave me 7 year old the option not to do the procedure, which was never discussed with me prior so we left that day having paid getting nothing done, have to call back to ask about what happened because no one explained. Came back for what was supposed to be the second treatment but became the first, a new dentist walks in does not introduce himself and then tells me the whole plan we talked about and scheduled is not going to work and we're going to have to do a whole mouth surgery on of different day out of a different location, this was now the second day off I have wasted. I asked the new dentist whom again never introduced himself to attempt to do the planned procedure anyway due to cost and missing time from work, to which he did not attempt then while discussing with him my confusion another dentist pops her head in and says the surgery is only $275. Well my husband is asking the dentist questions. The dentist decides to just walk away that he's had enough of this situation which he did not actually do anything for except try to change our complete treatment plan. As we attempt to figure out what to do next, the student just tells us that we should leave so we leave go to the front desk to schedule this surgery. Where we find out the dentist walked away because he felt disrespected assumingly because I didn't automatically go with his treatment plan of push it off to somebody else at another time. Then my husband has to take my daughter back there to get her height and weight for the future appointment to where the dens between his legs to do that. I called to schedule the surgery at the other location because my child needs to get this procedure done and they tell me the procedure is actually $375. Every single appointment I have been to with University pediatric. I have been told different information that nobody is willing to back up. This has been an absolute nightmare that now my 7-year-old child has gone through. There was no consistency or sensitivity for the fact that it's a pediatric dentist. In the future I would rather perform the dentist work myself than ever consider taking my children back. Found out the dentist who canceled our treatment plan and walked out on us was called Dr. David. My husband found out at the end of the appointment when the dentist had to come back to the front desk to take my child's height and weight. read more

My boys both go to University Pediatric Dentistry and everyone is so very patient! My younger son does pretty well with the dentist but my older one has some anxiety issues with the dentist. They are very patient and sweet with the kids. They always explain what they are doing before they do it. The kids get a token if they are good to put in one of the prize machines at the end. Very upset-- my 6 year old daughter went for a 6 month checkup in October. She had one very loose tooth (as 6 year old children often have). When the dentist offered to take the tooth out, my daughter said yes. Months later, I get a bill from the office, and they billed me and my insurance almost $100 for that 5 second "procedure". My kids have been patients of University Pediatric Dentistry Maple Rd location for years and understandably so booking an appointment is usually a few months out which is why I try and stay on top of scheduling. My daughter was seen in February and required some work done next available was April 4th so we took that appointment. I received a call today 4/1/22 and was told there was a error when my daughter was scheduled and they needed to cancel for the 4th and aren't able to see her until June 27, 2022. That is absolutely ridiculous to have to cancel my child's appointment based on their error and not be able to see her for another 2 months. read more

This dental practice does some sort of crazy voodoo on your children because when they leave here, they ask when they get to go back. Not even exaggerating! When you walk in, you see these gumball type machines that are filled with a bunch of toys and stuff. There are a couple of TVs playing here and there, and in the back waiting room there are a few xboxs lined up for you to play while you wait. All three of my kids were given standard dental exams and cleaning and they really enjoyed it. The staff, especially the oral hygienists were awesome! Thankfully none of my kids had any major issues and so we didn't spend any major time with the Dentist. But during the time that we did spend with him, he was very gentle and had a great demeanor. Well on your way out you get a couple of coins to put into the machines so that you can pick your prize. I was looking for a pediatric dentist for my son's first dental visit, and a friend referred me to University dentistry. The office is very nice and joined with a pediatric urgent care. Everyone I dealt with, from the reception desk to the hygienist to the dentist, was super friendly and made our first visit so easy. Even though my soon to be one year old was kicking and screaming (literally) we still managed to get through it quickly. After a brush, floss and some fluoride, they gave him a rubber ducky and the tears were gone. read more

Growing up, I had a huge fear of the dentist. This fear was earned through many cavities, fillings, caps, and then later a root canal and a crown. Just say no to candy, kids! The sterile, cold environment, accompanied by the knowledge that I would basically always be facing Novocaine and a side of shame led me to a pathological fear of the dentist that persists to this day, As a parent, you try your hardest to avoid passing on your fears to your kids, and my ability to talk up the dentist as a "fun" and "healthy" experience while secretly wanting to cry and hide is helped greatly by the environment that University Pediatric Dentistry has created. I took three kids ranging in age from 2 to 9 for their exams and cleaning and were seen, all three at once, immediately. There's basically a row of chairs for the team of hygienists to examine the kids, and then another row of slightly more private areas for the dentist to do fillings, etc. My two year old, who has been known to cry when having his height measured, hammed it up with the ladies examining his teeth- he let them poke around and clean etc. without batting an eye. He enjoyed his goodie bag, and enjoyed his own pair of latex gloves he begged off of the dentist even more. One of the older kids got a perfect summary, while the other had some issues that would take us two more visits to correct (story of her life. Middle child problems.) However, she faced the future appointments and procedures without fear, because of the way the dentist talked her through everything and calmed any anxiety she might have had. At the end of the appointment, the kids are given "gold coins" to use for prizes (think of those machines that used to be in grocery stores in the 80s and 90s giving out rings that turned your finger green or bouncy balls to whip at your brother in the car on the way home.) We picked our prizes like we were at Chuck-E-Cheese and were on our way, with nothing but good things to say. I wish they would take me on as a patient. I could use an efficient dentist and a healthy dose of bribery. Alas, I am too old. read more

Excellent Care for our 4 year old autistic son. What I thought was going to be nightmare turned into a very pleasant experience. They were wonderful with him - nothing forced, sang to him and he was more cooperative with their approach than he has been with us even in our home when it comes to his teeth. I do not recommend to anyone they take their children to UPD. My son is autistic and UPD was recommended to us. After four appointments a year for five years, three teeth had to be extracted from my eight year old sons head and he had three really bad,painful cavities.
