We love all the Unleashed stores in and around Raleigh. The staff are always super nice and helpful, they carry the best of the best of dog food and treats, their prices are good and the selection is plentiful. What's not to love? This is our second visit to an Unleashed store since our move out to the area and we've already decided that Unleashed will be our go to pet store for our pup. The staff always greet you with a smile and are always so helpful. Today we got to check out their anniversary party and got a free bag of dog food and lots of free snacks and a tote bag. Pretty awesome. We also loved the 20% discount. So glad I have them on our instagram so we get store updates. I also love their dog food loyalty program where you buy 10 bags of dog food and you'll get the 11th free. Which will be great because our dog eats some expensive food. That'll save us about $60. After finding out that our prescription dog food had been recalled and our former vet decided not to call and let us know this small, rancid detail, we went on the hunt for some new chow for the pup-pups. With the prescription ingredient label in hand we ended up at Unleashed. The staff is knowledgeable and was able to suggest a brand that we have been using for several months now with no ill effects and much cheaper than the old prescription. That alone made me a fan, but Unleashed has so much more to offer. Unleashed also has a DIY dog wash facility. There is a huge walk-in sink (fits a 100+ lb dog no problem), lots of shampoos & conditioners to choose from, towels, dryers, brushes, etc. After all the shaking is over you can drop your towels and pay at the door - they clean up the mess. Last but not least there is a great variety of dog toys, treats, leashes, stickers, t-shirts, and all other things dog related. Bonus: Strategically located next to Chubby's Tacos. Really great local pet store! The store isn't huge, but they maximize the space well. They carry great brands that you don't necessarily see at the big name pet chops. I like all the lose chews in the front and found the prices for those items to be super reasonable. The employees were also both very friendly and happy to help. My pup also didn't mind the extra pets and treats that came along with their friendly service. Parking is easy right out front (they are right next to Randy's Pizza). My little guy is privileged, no doubt. However, in no way and sense have I raised him to be pretentious. This is the perfect store for him. I refuse to take him to a pink and embellished store called "Little Royalty Pups". There are so many different varieties of raw hides! They are displayed in baskets, and it's like picking flowers. One pig tail, one sheep ear, one happy little furry human. They also sell gourmet cookies and cupcakes. Once in a while, I'd buy him one. I mean, cmon, we all need to indulge once in a while. They have a great variety of natural pet products. My pup is def environmentally friendly. He never flushes! They also carry all the grain-free, fancy, schmancy dog foods. My dog is on nature's variety grain-free kibbles. I can mix their flavours and my dog is definitely happier. They basically have everything. Her Royal Furriness has been on a raw diet for a decade now, and Unleashed is one of the few places that sells the frozen tubes of dog food that keep her happy and healthy. This place is really amazing! They helped me get all my dogs on a grain-free diet(including my new rescue puppy!) and even gave me samples for all the dogs to try before I decided which one to go with(Taste of the Wild). One of my older dogs allergies have gotten SO much better with the change of diet. Every staff member is so knowledgeable and my puppy just loves to visit because he always gets plenty of love and attention. I can't say enough great things about Unleashed. I find myself going there a couple times a week to stock up on puppy supplies and just to ask them questions and for advice. How about a large DIY dog washing facility that is: a) easy on your back; b) stocked with LOTS of shampoos and other grooming tools; c) large enough to fit my 120-lb great dane with room to spare; d) towels and drying tools galore? Honestly, only went to this place to give my dogs a bath. Did a walk-in and they were able to get me in, although I had to be out within the hour since there was someone coming in for an appointment. The "spa" is in the back of the store and it's more like a half converted closet. I like that they had multiple shampoos to choose from and they all smelled really good, but they have these weird bamboo pieces in the bottom of the basin that slide all over the place, so it was hard for my bigger dog to stand/sit. It was nice that they had towels, but they were really "crusty" like they weren't dried all the way through and then just put up on the shelf. I was particularly excited about the dryer they advertise because my dogs are both fluffy and take forever to dry. Well, the dryer is a little cheap plastic one that only blew cold air and had no nozzle/was broken. It didn't really do much. Ended up leaving before my dogs were dry because it wasn't really doing anything. The store is nice but was not worth the $20 for the spa and will go to Pet Supplies Plus next time. read more

Stopped in on a whim because I had just brought my dog to the vet and figured she could use a special treat. The staff was incredibly welcoming and helpful. They were very friendly towards my pit bull (often times we aren't even allowed in stores but not this time!). I got some inexpensive treats and I found some great dog food with even better prices. After I saw how competitively priced the dog food was, I asked an employee if she could help me. She was incredibly knowledgable and lead me to the perfect dog food. The store even does a frequent buyer program where if you buy 12 bags, you get one free. With 3 dogs that'll extremely beneficial. They don't sell animals and they do support local rescue organizations. I originally wrote this review in 2016. I just want to say, two years later, I'm still impressed. Pet grooming is ridiculously expensive. My idea of washing (others may call it bathing, I call it washing) the dog is spraying it with a hose as it runs around dodging all the water. It costs less to wash myself for a whole month than one visit to the groomer for our shedding machine. So in preparation for a long road-trip and to prevent my complaining that the dog smells like dog, we searched high and wide for a self-wash. I heard about a pet washing machine, but Kristin thought that was a little cruel, so we finally landed on Unleashed. It was far better than I had expected. The wash is in the back of the store. They have a step-up sink/tub and enough room for a moderately large pet. It took some coaxing for our dog to go up the steps and into the tub, but when we finally got him in it was ez-breezy. They have a ton of soaps and tools available for you to use. The soaps that they make available are the good stuff. .. natural soaps for the most sensitive dog. Still a little pricey for a self wash at $15, but it's probably better than most I've ever seen. They only have room for one tub, so there could be a wait. 5 stars for a great pet wash. So long as we live in an apartment, we'll be back. read more

They gave me advice and resources to help my dog with severe allergies, from food, treats, lotions and spray, which is all safe holistic and natural. I recently moved to Raleigh from Seattle. I have a 55lb. Polish Lowland Sheepdog with a LOT of hair and I have always groomed him myself. In Seattle, there were DIY dog washes everywhere and I was disappointed to find so few here when I arrived. Then I found Unleashed and it didn't matter anymore. I moved here a few years back and found them through a local dog meet up. I had been so IMPRESSED with the people running the store, imagine my surprise when I ran into the OWNER conducting an employee meeting at a local restaurant. He was a ROYAL JERK and a snob! - not sure how he managed to develop a store philosophy of such dedication to optimum nutrition and quality products at reasonable prices run by a staff that is informed, caring, and very customer oriented. Shopping at Unleashed is so much more than shopping at a Pet store. I love that they have personally visited the manufacturers of the brands that they carry. My dog eats a raw diet and they are one of the few stores in the area to carry commercial raw foods. They also have a wonderful selection of treats and toys. My dog loves when I come home from there because he knows there is always something special just for him. My cat also loves the freeze dried raw that they sell, she refuses to do regular raw foods and is very picky. I was super excited to hear that a new Unleashed store is coming to Cary because it will be closer for me. read more

There are so many good reviews on here that I hate putting a not so great one but here it goes. I have been here a few times, live in the area so I can actually walk there with my dog which I love. I wanted a frozen bone for him and the staff was really helpful picking something out for him. The only real complaint I noticed in the beginning was the cleanliness around corners of things where it seems some dogs may have marked. Anyways, fast forward a few weeks. I need to bathe my dog BADLY. It was a saturday, pouring down rain, my only day off in weeks, I called in the afternoon to see if there were any appts available for a bath. The girl on the phone told me they actually had a rescue group there today giving baths and I didn't need an appt, I could just walk in. Awesome! I don't have to bathe my 110lb dog and it'll be a donation to a great cause. An hour later, I load up my dog while its monsooning out, drive over there. Walk in the front door and this woman and husband are standing at the counter checking out and have this huge vicious dog that is trying to attack my dog. My (calm and controlled) dog and I are in the front corner cowering from this growling, barking, and lunging dog and a woman who cannot control it. He is pulling her literally out of her flips flops about to let go of the leash, barely hanging on, and NOBODY IS DOING ANYTHING TO HELP! There were probably 2 or 3 staff members at the front and none of them are doing anything or saying anything to this woman to control her dog. Her husband finally finishes his transaction and then finally goes over and pulls the leash to pull him back. I'm sorry, but as staff of a pet store, I think it is your job to step in where there is about to be a dog fight when a woman is being pulled out of her flip flops and I'm trying to protect myself and my dog from being attacked in a corner. They finally leave but I'm so annoyed at this point that I had no help and my friendly dog is now visibly shaken from this altercation. Walk up, hey I'm here for the rescue group doing dog baths today. Oh I'm sorry, they are leaving right now and we are back to taking appointments and we don't have any available for you today. Ummm what!? I JUST called an hour ago and you mentioned nothing about what time they were leaving and you flat out said I didn't need an appointment today! Yeahhhh sorry, the next appointment is coming in 5 minutes so we don't have time for you today. I have a short haired dog, it takes 5 mins tops to bathe him, I don't need to do nails, dry him, or anything else, can I please just run him back there in the bath since you told me I could come in today. Nope, sorry. You can come another day next week..... So I actually have the decency of being a good customer and calling ahead to try to get an appt, you tell me I don't need one and a recuse group is there doing baths and I can come in at any time, I come in pouring down rain, almost attacked by a vicious dog while the staff does nothing, and then tell me the complete opposite of what you told me on the phone and refuse to let me bathe my dog before the next appt? This is just bad customer service. I'll just go to Petsmart to shop which my dog thoroughly enjoys, the staff loves him and gives him attention and treats, its much cleaner, have never had a dog try to attack mine, and I'll take him to another dog bathing spot in the area with better customer service. I've visited nearly every pet store in the Raleigh area in search of the best treats, toys, and service for my puppy. Unleashed has recently become a favorite of mine. I wandered in looking for a pet store location that was closer to me and had all the brands I was accustomed to. Unleashed has a huge selection of dog food (and cat food). I like that they greet you and are very friendly when you enter the store, then leave you to browse on your own for awhile. They always come over after giving you some time to look around and ask if you need help with anything. I had several questions that made me sound like an extremely anxious first time puppy mom, but the staff took all my questions seriously and explained everything very thoroughly. I trust the brands that they carry in their store and how they stand behind them. It's very reassuring knowing that the store owner's dogs eat the same brands and have tested them all out. As I was leaving, I asked if they had dog peanut butter anywhere. The staff explained to me that they do not carry any, because they believe it is overpriced and most likely not as nutritious as a wholesome, all-natural brand of peanut butter for humans. I really like coming to this store! The staff is always so friendly and helpful (without hovering). A few months ago I came in looking for a new harness for my tiny dog (6.5 pounds) who has a trachea problem. They told me that if I brought him back with me they'd do a harness fitting for him to see what would work best. I couldn't believe it the first time I walked into Unleashed and was walking around the treat section and I noticed that every single treat they had in the store was wheat free. I have a twelve year old Beagle that has been allergic to wheat her entire life. I have spent so long looking everywhere for wheat free treats. This store was amazing to me that I can literally choose any treat on their shelves and know it's not going to upset my dogs stomach. Not only are their products great but their staff is always smiling and very helpful. I always enjoy shopping at unleashed. If anyone is looking for a great local pet store this is it.
