MEEEE-OW!!!! These guys rock!!!…read more I am a traveling contractor who does not get the opportunity to be at home with my pets very often and the majority of that responsibility goes to my partner. With an ill pet, all you want to know is, "Is he going to be ok?" "Is she getting better?" Our pets are more than a part of our family, they ARE our family. When my pet, Sparky, became distant and annoyed, and began to eat less, he also had a growth on his chin that I could not help him with...because I am not a doctor. Ah-ha! I reached out to HOPE Animal Rescue and I can't be more grateful. They stepped in and helped get Sparky to a veterinarian within a few days, after the application process was completed, and Sparky is a HAPPY CAT. Laurel was especially helpful in that she made the process seem like there wasn't a process...even though we all know what it takes to get things done today. Feats like this are not marginal notes in life...they are magnificent, loving, caring moments in time that help us to remember, "Wow. I really don't feel so alone out here in the world." I cannot say enough about HOPE Animal Rescue. In a way, Hope Animal Rescue rescued my pet AND me, because I was so distraught over what was happening to him and the not knowing is what creates the fear. Thank you to Laurel and the entire VOLUNTEER staff and businesses that help to support Hope Animal Rescue. You rescued the best part of me today...and if you're doing that for me, I know that you're doing this for a lot of other people. THANK YOU for all of the hard work that you're doing out there for the animals that aren't a part of our health care system.

Great system in place. Adopted my dog easily and they confirmed it was the best place for the dog.read more

They are truly all-volunteer and every decision they make is made with the best interest of the dog or cat in mind. I started fostering kittens with IAR in 2014 and continued on as a foster for several more years before transitioning to other volunteer roles. I also am what is known as a foster fail, having adopted an adorable lanky kitten early on as a companion for our resident kitty. Due to personal health concerns, I sadly stepped down from my volunteer roles last year, but I have a deep love for IAR and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking to adopt a dog, cat or pair of kittens, or to foster or volunteer! If you happen to be on one of the North Durham Nextdoor websites, on just about every post concerning community cats or dogs you'll see numerous individuals who have found help through IAR recommending them as a resource for guidance and support. I am sure the same is true throughout Durham, Chapel Hill, and Carrboro. IAR is quick to step in when there is a need - whether it's saving kittens who are in storm drains, feeding and spaying and neutering feral colonies, or rescuing and caring for homeless dogs and cats until they find their forever homes.

WORST ANIMAL SHELTER IN NORTH CAROLINA DO NOT WORK WITH THIS ANIMAL SHELTER. ESPECIALLY HELEN!!!…read moreShe will read your emails and ignore them and then let you know she ignored your email. I'm going to have to find out who hired her because they handled my owner surrender terribly. All of the employees act like they don't know what to do without speaking to a manager. I've visited this shelter several times for the Dog Day Out program and to potentially adopt a cat…read more On two occasions, I was greeted when I arrived but then left waiting for around 30 minutes with no follow-up, despite sitting in the lobby in plain view. Each time, I eventually had to find another staff member for assistance. There are many wonderful employees at this shelter who clearly care about the animals and the visitors. However, a few staff members do not seem to take their responsibilities seriously. For example, one woman with short brown hair noticed blood on the floor, pointed it out aloud, and then walked away to chat with a coworker instead of cleaning it up, allowing several guests to step in it and track it through the building. Another staff member with red hair greeted me but then disappeared to the back, where she spent time ranting rather than helping, leaving me waiting for about half an hour. My girlfriend and I decided to foster a cat before adopting, so we could ensure our current cat would get along. We noticed fleas on the new cat on the way home. We immediately returned to the shelter to discuss the issue, and after some conversation, decided to try taking the cat back home again. Unfortunately, we later discovered the cat also had worms. We ultimately returned him for treatment to get to work and for them to check out anything else they missed. During the entire process, we were not asked to sign any paperwork, nor were we informed of the cat's medical conditions or given any records, even though we told them we have another cat. This lack of transparency was disappointing, especially since the cat himself was incredibly sweet, and I was genuinely sad to return him. He was taken off the Cite, so I assume he has gone to a new home. Overall, the shelter has kind, dedicated staff and many wonderful animals, but there are some areas, especially communication, professionalism, and accountability, that could use serious improvement.

Animall seems to have guinea pigs and cats available for adoption all the time, and then at certain times, dogs and rabbits. There's a store cat that hangs out by the register ignoring people as they pay for their goodies. The rabbits and guinea pigs don't seem to last long, as there's usually an "adoption pending" sign within a short time. The big open space near the front of the store, during adoption events, usually has a large open top cage for the dogs. Like Kristen said in her review, there's a lot of space here, and not a lot of product. But, what they do carry, at least in the non-food items, is a little different than what you'll find in the big box stores. The mugs and picture frames, for example, are adorable. If you're in the mall, this is a place worth visiting to pick up a small toy for your four-legged friend or a gift for yourself. And if you don't have a furry friend, you can adopt one here. Animall makes it easy to shop, find a furry friend, and stock the house with the required pet accoutrement. And if you don't want to adopt, it's nice knowing the proceeds from any sale here goes to various pet shelters in the area.

This is a pretty big store but found that their selection was just okay - there was a lot of bare space. They do have some pretty cool dog toys that I haven't seen before - which is a nice break from the typical toys. They have an okay selection of dog food - great no grain selection. They have kittens, hampsters, and guinea pigs there for purchase but a pretty small amount of actual supplies. I will definitely be back for more events and to get my favorite no grain brand...but I probably wouldn't go here for supplies.

Dealing with these horrible people has been one of the worst experiences we have ever been through. We patiently answered all of their highly invasive and personal questions which included questions about how we lost our pets!? My wife is one of the sweetest and most caring people I have ever known and it was heartbreaking to sit there and watch her cry for over an hour reliving these horrible events with our sweet pets. We gave them our own veterinarian as a reference! Then after all this, they extort $10 from us. We paid thinking this was the final step and we would finally get our puppy. Nope! Then they wanted a video of our home!! Who in their right mind is going to send a total stranger a video of their home?!? By the way, we have a beautiful home with 10 acres and a creek but that shouldn't matter. All that matters is we have an empty yard where a beautiful dog should be playing. I truly do not know what is wrong with these people and I have a Master's Degree In Psychology! I feel sorry for the animals, THEY DESERVE BETTER AND SO DO WE!!

If the dog is adopted in that time then they just wont communicate that or anything with you. A WASTE OF TIME!!!
