This business is located in a shopping plaza with other businesses and has shared parking in front. I came here to exchange an item that was brought at another location that was too big. For some reason the purchase was not showing up when it was scanned on the receipt. The manager was able to assist me & get my exchange taken care. The price that was paid at the other location was also higher than this store so I was able to use the extra credit to buy something else. Pet Supplies Plus may not jump out at you from Wake Forest Rd because it's set back a bit in a small shopping center; however, any of you with four-legged friends would be remiss to not stop in this store. When you first walk in, the front part of the store is dogs, followed by a couple aisles for cats and a couple aisles for fish and other animals. I'd say the dog portion is at least 40% of the store. Find (lots and lots of) food, crates, collars, leashes, muzzles, feeders, toys, grooming tools, travel accessories...even books. I didn't stroll down the cat, fish and "other" aisles -- just peeked to see what was there. The prices were pretty good. They have a sale on wire crates until the end of December 2010 and there's a frequent buyer deal for food, but I can get the FURminator cheaper on Amazon than in this store...can't win them all, I guess. I used to love this store, the staff was friendly and helpful, but they need to replace their female manager working evenings. I have shopped at PSP for over 15 years. Having lived in Michigan I was there since the company launched their first location. I have never been so poorly as I was at this location on my last visit. It was so bad that we went down the road to Phydeaux and will never shop at ANY Pet Supplies Plus again. We went in for a very large order, over $200 in food, toys, and flea medication. Their prices on some of the flea medication is marked up $20 higher than anyone else in the area and I asked if they would price match. I have always been price matched at this location, and every other pet store in the world. The nice girl in front went to fetch the manager and the manager immediately told us due to knock-offs she would not honor the price match. We explained that it's been done at this same store, on the same product, multiple times in the past. She agreed to honor it after pushing, and then reneged and flat out REFUSED to - stating that the product could be a scam. We showed her complete proof that this was the Bayer price, FROM Bayer itself. We inspected the box together and verified that it was the exact same brand, same weight, EVEN THE SAME PRODUCT CODE. She acknowledged this and still stated that there was nothing she could do, and said 'corporate doesn't care'. I know that this is not true, because I have been buying this product from PSP for years this method. She sh*t talked her own company. I told her that we would be spending multiple hundreds of dollars at this very moment, there was clearly no intent to 'rip her off' as she accused us of. I let her know that we have an account there with thousands of dollars in receipts, and that I had no issue walking away from the entire company if she is going to sit there and insult us the way that she did. In front of other customers no less. She simply shrugged it off. Shrugged off a large purchase right there, and thousands in the future for her company. We went down the road to Phydeaux and got the treatment a customer should have. They matched the price without hesitation and even threw in an extra just for switching to them. And for any management reading this, it was never about the price. It's about principle and treating people with dignity. Save yourself the insult and take your dollar somewhere else, where you'll be treated properly. Vote with your dollar, consumers. read more

In the busy holly springs complex. I went here needing an e-collar for my dog after we went to an emergency hospital for a paw injury. I called prior to coming to confirm that they had e-collars in stock and to compare price costs (the plastic collar at the emergency vet was $40). The store associate that answered the phone answered it quickly, provided information as to the types of collars in stock, price ranges. He was fantastic. When I got to the store I saw they had a wide assortment of food and other supplies. The e-collars in stock were of a wide variety, including the plastic ones, soft ones, inflatable donut ones, and some hybrids. I used the yelp coupon to get 8% off which was great as well! Definitely recommend going. They are one of the few stores I know that is open late (9pm)! read more

I've been to this location a time or two for fish supplies; today i went to used The dog wash station. I needed dog food too; so i was happy to knock out 2 errands in one trip. MAN WAS I WRONG!!! I used to buy my betta fish from petsmart but they would always end up sick and dying. But when i got my second betta fish from here he lived out his life and died peacefully of old age. I had no problems with him the whole time he was alive and i will never go back to buying bettas from petsmart. read more

Pet Supplies Plus is the type of pet store that others should aspire to be. They will often ask if you need help carrying anything or finding anything and the selection of items for all pets from dogs to cats to fish to gerbils to hamsters to reptiles is astounding. Prices are great too and the coupons are great. Every Tuesday is senior day with a 10% discount. If you have their card... you can save even more with sales. I have not one bad thing to say about this place. Everyone is always nice and goes above and beyond. The few times that I take my 102lb Pit Baby in there, it is one lady (don't know her name) that ALWAYS makes sure that she assist us with whatever we need. She is AWESOME. At one point when I had my baby's brother (2 same age HUGE Pit Bulls), she would take one while I have the other and fit them for a harness or tell me what works best for them and she was always correct. The dog owners on staff answer all of my silly questions and offer their experiences with different brands and toys in the shop. + The prices are fair. Most prices for the higher end dog food are comparable, sometimes cheaper, than other stores. Their price match program is a plus, should you happen to spot a lower price online. They put a lot of items on sale and rotate those choices out often, which is a great chance to try something new for a reasonable price. The membership card includes regular coupons for basic purchases and they put out manufacturer's coupons whenever available. + The selection is top-notch. I've purchased Taste of the Wild for years now, but it wasn't until I came to Pet Supplies Plus that I realized how many varieties there are. Even amongst the toys, chews, grooming, and medical supplies, there's a number of options no matter what you're looking for. + The free pet food samples are bomb. Fairly often, I'll come across a wire bin with free pet food samples from reputable brands, like Taste of the Wild and Natural Balance. These sample sizes are perfect to pack in the car for travel. I am a big fan of this Pet Supplies Plus! It is right by my house which makes it a really convenient spot for me to visit with my pup. Every time I have visited the employees have been exceedingly friendly. Someone is always around to offer help or give you suggestions if you are looking for something in particular. On the last visit my pup got a free cookie treat to take home! If you are trying to manage a large dog and lots of stuff they are more than happy to help you to your car. My pup takes four pills a day which means we go through a lot of pill pocket treats. They have the Greenies brand that you see everywhere but they also carry Zoe's pill pockets which my dog has become a big fan of. The flavors are a little more interesting like peanut butter and honey and beef with ginger as opposed to just peanut butter or just chicken. We have a cat with really fine fur that defeats the usual cat combs, so we were on a quest to find a comb that would work before the house was overtaken by summertime cat fur tumbleweeds! We checked at a couple of the big-name pet supply shops with no luck, and then a friend suggested Pet Supplies Plus - and we had a winner! The young lady at the register greeted us as soon as we walked in, directing us verbally to the correct aisle even as she was bagging another customer's purchase. When we got to that aisle, another employee was unpacking a case of new products, but stopped and helped us as soon as we approached. Not only did he help us find the comb we wanted, but also showed us several other options that might work for us, located in the dog section. We didn't see much of the neat, well-stocked shop, but did notice several products that we often buy for our cats at fairly competitive prices, and our friend who recommended PSP also mentioned that they have regular sales that are quite good for stocking up on pet basics, so I have no doubt we'll be back! The store cat at the counter was as friendly as the young woman who checked us out; having a shop pet is a plus in my department. I also noticed that the guy who helped us find the perfect comb was rocking some very cool gothy-punky makeup, which I mention because his being allowed to look the way he likes to look at work suggests to me that the business respects their employees and offers a pleasant working environment - something I can totally get behind as a former retail worker myself. It in no way detracted from his professional, helpful attitude, and made me feel that his enthusiasm for his job was completely legitimate and not something corporate insists on being faked (see: the ridiculously false 'Welcome to Moe's' at a popular chain restaurant). I wanted to make someone aware of the cashier in your Raleigh, NC store. I have NEVER written a bad review about anyone in my life, but this particular employee is so not pleasant that I have to say something. We have spent a lot of money with your stores and deserve to at least be treated with decency and respect. We were very excited to try our Raleigh store since we had pleasant experiences in other cities. It seems our Raleigh store is the exception and has not been pleasant either time we tried to shop there. We will not be trying a third time, nor recommending the store to anyone. Both times we had the same cashier (Leilani). We were there over a month ago, so this is not a new employee training issue. We were using a coupon and she said she didn't know how to enter it and did not search for help until we went and found someone to help her enter the coupon. Today a similar issue arose. She stated she didn't know how to enter it. She was rude about it and even talked disrespectfully to us. This is really not about the money. It is about respect and customer service. After paying, my husband had to ask her if she was going to bag our purchases (since they were all out on the counter) and she acted as if that was too much to ask.
