However, when Sean convinces you to splurge for the annual service, and you weigh whether you can afford to spend $229, and then he says, "actually it'll be $282 after parts and fees", do not agree to make an investment at Conte's without a written receipt. At checkout it becomes $334, Sean will pretend he doesn't remember your previous conversation. Barb will say, "they must have called you to confirm an increase", and when you show you were not called, she will forget about this policy and the price will stay whatever they invent. I will start on trails and parks and places that aren't Downtown DC. This place is so popular that more employees are needed. It is challenging when several customers are entering the store at the same time and there is only one person available. Make sure you are on the same page with the employee ordering your bike. Verify arrival dates. Laurie is nice. She works Tuesday - Saturday. Rob is the owner. He accommodated me when there was an ordering glitch with my folding bike. Since my husband speaks "fluent bike" I put him in charge of researching the model that would work for me. I haven't regular ridden a bike in years. REI has more staff and more items in the store but the bikes are more expensive. There is a decent selection of helmets and locks. I bought my helmet & lock at REI. If you want informative help at a slower pace, you should consider a visit. I'm satisfied with how things ended up with my purchase. The store has bike trail maps. The gentleman who helped me was very kind. We didn't even buy our bikes here and he was willing to help. He even came outside to make sure I had put the bike rack on my SUV correctly (I didn't). He reassembled it for me and put the bikes on the rack for me. Before I left he let me know that the bike with the catching wheel wasn't manufactured properly and was dangerous to ride. I told him I'd be back after our Jamaica trip to get an e-bike. We went out for a ride that day and my bike was scary as hell to ride. So I decided I'll be recycling it earlier rather than later. I was discussing with my mom and she surprised me by buying me an e-bike online. While it didn't come from Trek as I planned, I'm looking forward to bringing it in for them to assemble. I'm sure the price is reasonable but more importantly they actually care for your safety while you're riding and that says a lot about the character of the employees. The app bills itself as download and go. Bass on my experiences so far, I'd like to rebrand it download and wow. You download the app, pay a onetime fee of $19 so they check your selfie/drivers license picture, and once you're approved, you're all set and can use the app to locate nearby scooters and reserve one up to 15 minutes in advance. I submitted my photo and was quickly approved. I hadn't driven a scooter before, so while watching some of their helpful intro videos, I saw that they offer a free lesson. Tried to book a lesson, but it was only for the NYC locations. I emailed their help team about it and on a Sunday afternoon, they replied in 15 minutes with the link to book a DC lesson. I went to my lesson tonight, and was blown away again by their customer-centric approach. Charlie was my instructor and he provided very thorough walkthroughs of how to use the bike, how to move around with the bike, turning corners, and sent me on well-supervised trips up and down the alley and around the block. I LOVE that they take the time to do this to make sure people are comfortable and safe on scooters. Seriously, it was at least 45 minutes, if not an hour, of one-on-one scooter tutorials. Charlie was very patient, didn't laugh out loud when I ran into a fence, and was super encouraging as I got more familiar with the moped and felt brave enough to accelerate above 6 MPH. I even got a ride credit at the end of my free lesson! Fun to drive and looking forward to exploring more of the city with Revel. Wish I'd taken a picture of their office and garage on Sheridan St., but maybe it's better that there's no photo evidence of my inaugural scooter ride. By the way, both the fence and I are ok.
