Came here Saturday night, the 27th and ate outside. We were initially going to go to the AB&G next door, but had a 45 minute wait and decided to try here instead. The waitress and the hostess were both fantastic and friendly. We went next door to get a bottle of wine and tall boy as they do not have a liquor license. Our waitress Stephanie came out and was chipper, upbeat, and knowledgeable. She talked about the guacamole special, and the other specials. I asked her what her favorite taco was and she said the birria taco. I ended up ordering the masa chicken taco, my mom got the birria taco and my dad got the shrimp taco, and a side of rice and beans. We also got an order of fried calamari and shishito peppers for the table. Everything came out quick and fresh and was delectable. Word of advice, the single taco is on the smaller size so I would suggest ordering two of them. The highlight of my chicken taco was the homemade tortilla it came in. We ordered churros for desert. Happy New Year. I have been wanting to try this restaurant for a long time. My friends heard Mexican and thought Tex Mex. Far from it. The cuisine is elevated to include choices that will satisfy a variety of expectations. We had the burrata with prosciutto with delicata squash and micro basil. For an entree. The skirt steak was cooked perfectly with charred spring onions and garlic mashed potato purée. The staff was professional and the owner a pleasure to meet. What a great addition to the neighborhood! It was an excellent meal. The guacamole was fresh and had nice chunks of avocado. You could tell the yellowfish tostado was fresh and lime worked perfectly with it. The tostado had a nice crunch as well. The veggie quesdilla appetizer was also light and we couldn't stop eating it. The star of the show are the tortilla's and tacos. I really liked them and you do not find tortilla's like that normally. I don't even like shrimp and I liked that taco. Skirt steak was tender which is hard to do and the green sauce complimented nicely. The tortilla's served on the side were also great to make my town taco. I am a corn esquites junkie and I liked that one. Churros were a perfect ending. Do not sleep on the mocktails and make sure you bring some tequila because they compliment it nicely. So last night was first time-went for wine tasting dinner. Tasting dinners usually skew the service, more focus on glasses, etc but service was fine. If "high end" Mexican food is a term of art, that's what this is. Tuna tartare was great--fresh, flavorful, good portion size. Other courses (lamb, carne asada) were also very good. Mexican cheesecake with cinnamon was spot on. Flavors are complex and you can tell there is a focus on execution--the hot peppers in the tuna tartare were extremely thinly sliced, used a mandoline or similar--so the overall taste was complimented-not overwhelmed. I am giving one star because Allandelle is a beautiful town. I am Mexican, I lived in Mexico for 40 years, and I am a foody. We started with a guacamole and the amount of salt in it made it almost inedible, for $16. My daughters love birria, they have eaten it here in the area and in Mexico always enjoying it. Now they ordered the tacos order (3) with rice and beans ($26). The birria was bad. The rice was over-salted and far from any original Mexican recipe. Same happened with the beans. My husband tried the shrimp, scallop and mushrooms tacos. My husband liked the scallop tacos. He gave a "meh" to the shrimp taco, which I ordered as well and I can tell you, it was so "meh". He said that the mushroom taco was terrible. I can say the same about the taco al pastor, tasted horrible. I gave it one bite and I could not do it anymore. In addition, I asked for salsa. They brought a red salsa, which was made with canned tomato sauce (!?!), which made it sweet and horrible. The pineapple habanero was even worse. It was canned pineapple purée with habanero. I cannot tell you how bad it was. After all of this, we paid $140 + tip + 3% fee for credit card payment. If you like Mexican food, you can find many other decent places in Bergen County for a better price. read more

The food was fantastic! Upscale Mexican dishes that are delicious and perfectly prepared. Guacamole was super fresh and delicious, the chips were homemade and delicious. I believe the tortillas that they made the chips from were homemade as well. The scallop and roasted Brussel sprout soft tacos were to die for. The scallops were cooked to perfection and everything was well seasoned. It's BYOB(liquor store a few doors down) but they offer fresh fruit drinks that are incredible and pair perfectly with your liquor of choice. I made my next reservation before I left the restaurant. Looking for something different, we found Allendale had a new Mexican restaurant. It had only opened 2 months ago, but we were happy we tried it. It's not your typical Mexican restaurant, but has many standard dishes. We shared the guacamole which was delicious with a bit of a kick. I had the salmon and shrimp ceviche, hoping it would come close to something I love when in Mexico, but have been disappointed in the New Jersey versions I've experienced. Love the idea of elevated Mexican food...but, have mixed feelings about Uno Mas. Highs: guacamole was good, but could have use a bit of salt & lime...definitely freshly made to order, but for $16, I would expect that. Not quite enough blue corn chips for the amount of guacamole. Tuna tostada was also very fresh and simply conceived so that the tuna was the star. Crispy shrimp tacos were very good and would get again. Tortilla's they use are freshly made, rustic and hold up well to the abundance of toppings and don't need to get doubled-up like at many taco places... Lows: biggest low is the noise level...place is essentially a box with people screaming over each other. Birria tacos were loaded with meat, but the meat was kinda dry and tough and the flavor was a bit tame. Overall, would try again, but would consider getting an entree next time (entrees all are $30-40 each which, at least for my taste, is pushing things a bit for Mexican cuisine)... read more

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!! My husband and I have been here on multiple occasions and referred many friends. Unfortunately on March 8th, my husband and I made a reservation one hour prior to going. While heading to the restaurant, I did not feel well but we were already on the way so I figured we would stop in and cancel the reservation in person. Upon canceling this reservation, I spoke with a nice gentlemen and he said no problem and canceled the reservation. The next day, I received a 20 dollar cancellation fee on my credit card which was not mentioned when I canceled the reservation. When I called the restaurant and left a message about this charge, a woman called me a few days later and left a voicemail saying she would look into and call me back. I have tried calling back that number multiple times but it seems that my phone number is blocked and I have not received any return calls since then. I cannot believe the poor service for a reservation I made one hour prior to going and the lack of communication over a 20 dollar fee that I was not made aware of. If there are any fees associated with canceling the reservation, it should have been mentioned at the time of canceling and should not be a surprise fee the next day! After this experience, it is safe to say we will not be going back to this establishment! read more

Where to start...Overpriced with small portions and just disgusting quality. Ordered the 15$ two taco chicken and my boyfriend had the 37$ enchiladas...absolutely disgusting. With boujee Karen's and Chad's all around, they're trying to be something they aren't. All 6 staff that was there, were up on top of us asking us if things were okay and blah blah, every 3 minutes. Our waitress asked if we wanted chips we said no, and then every other staff asked if we wanted more chips...The meal wasn't even filling.
