We visited this restaurant on Sunday 8/16/26. the restaurant was about 50% occupied. we were given chips and salsa within 5 minutes, but it took 15 minutes before anyone took our drinks and appetizer order. It took another 20 minutes before our appetizer was delivered. They then took our dinner order. it took another 30 minutes to arrive. While the drinks and appetize were good. Our dinners were not. This is a remote small little town out side Up state N.Y. And the only Mexican eatery here that we could see . I liked the restaurant decor inside and outside side . But the food needs work , the chips and salsa were good , we ordered the fresh made guacamole made at the table was also good but ,Missing seasoning, lime juice and some type of chopped cilantro. I ordered the #4 steak fajitas . I was disappointed peppers were cut to thick, and needed more roasting so where the onions almost raw , it all needed more seasoning and roasting. The Mexican rice was bland , tasteless no sofrito and , missing seasoning the refried beans were ok ..My wife didn't like the taco salad it had cucumbers something you never put in a taco salad even the tomato slices were thick cut , she only liked the shell Lol.My son in-laws fried fish was good he liked it , and my sons chimichanga were also taste less compared to many others he has had elsewhere. We did like the drinks the service was ok but we had to wait some time before-our waiter came by . Have not been here in years, but decided to come back for lunch. I was pleasantly surprised at the attentiveness of the staff. From the minute we sat down they were right there supporting with the menu and providing drinks. Homemade guacamole made table side was so good that we got a second portion. I also really enjoyed the shrimp tacos, but felt like they needed some extra. Same goes for the other lunch taco meals. They were okay but needed a little something more. Maybe rice or beans? The decor is fitting for a Mexican restaurant. We did have some challenges with parking, but if you are open to walking there's a lot in the back that is open for parking for the street. read more

I have been here before years ago and the food and service has declined. The chicken tacos were dry and unseasoned. The ceviche was okay. My friends seem to enjoy their meals and I have to admit I specifically came to this restaurant based on previous experience. The servers were not knowledgeable about the menu and although nice courteous and professional do not know the difference between a margarita and a daiquiri. Because we are not short of Mexican restaurants in the area, I'd probably pass on this establishment the next time I'm in the mood. read more

I have been coming here for years and it always is a great time and outstanding meal. Whether it's a group outing, coming with family, or date night you will be more than satisfied. Service is fast even on the most crowded days in the restaurant. You are seated and provided menus and immediately brought housemate chips and salsa that they will refill throughout your meal. Appetizers we get jalapeños rellenos and ceviche and they are always fresh and flavorful. I personally switch between enchiladas verde and tacos de camaron. The chimichangas here are a great portion and filling, not to mention you will almost always have leftovers to take home because you will be full. The fajitas portions can easily be split between two people as it is quite a lot. Desserts are good here we are usually too full to even make it to dessert. Drinks are fantastic the margarita pitchers are a great deal. Parking is easy as there is the full lot behind the restaurant as well as parallel street parking in front of the restaurant, but that can be a bit chaotic depending on the day. read more

Food was 8/10. My husband's salad was very vibrant with flavor. My soft tacos were pretty dry. Rice and beans were okay. Tableside guacamole was good. Had to add salt to it but I had to add salt even when I make it at home so wasn't mad. The thing that got me tho was our waiter kept asking my husband and I if we wanted refills on our drinks, we said yes x2... got our bill... they charge PER soda. So my 3 sodas were $9. That should be something they should mention if they are asking their customers if they want refills. read more

Took a friend for her birthday dinner. From the outside it is small but when you walk in it is a lot bigger than it looks. The staff is very friendly but helps if you know Spanish. We got some table made guacamole and it was good not great. She got shrimp wrapped in bacon and was really good. Came here I guess late night (9) the drinks were horribly sweet. We ordered and food was delivered to the table within 3 minutes. Nothing was fresh. I ordered a Jalisco combo shrimp was overcooked and rubbery. Enchiladas had no sauce. Best thing about the meal was the chips and salsa. So disappointed. read more

This was my first visit to Hacienda Don Manuel. It was a Friday at 2pm. I ordered the burritos. I would normally eat at the bar as to not take up a whole table but there were plenty available. I enjoyed my meal while listening to Comprendala by Cardenales de Nuevo Leon and watching two patrons still deciding on what to eat even though they were here before I walked in. I skipped breakfast. Went with a group of 4 towards closing. They sat us, ambiance was quiet and traditional Mexican feel. We ordered the fresh guac which was delicious, but the rest of our orders were ok. The friend that suggested to eat here was enthusiastic because they remember it being better. Unfortunately the tacos I ordered were a bit on the dry side for me (carnitas) and the horchata I ordered to drink seemed to come in a smaller glass than the water they provided. Good Guac. Good Marg Pitcher. The end. We had to ask to place our order 3 times before someone got a server. But wait, it gets worse. I was with a friend who grew up in the area, asked for ground beef tacos and we were told they've never served ground beef tacos, then the staff member #2 came over and told us that the ground beef came from the Al Pastor. A famously non-beef dish. We ate what we were served, the steak tacos were dry and bland. The birria tacos were chewy and not melt-in-your-mouth stewed beef, and no broth came with the dish. At the end of the meal we asked a third staffer if there's any beef in the al pastor, he said "no, it's pork." When I told him what staffer #2 had said, the answer changed to, "no, there's a little ground beef in the al pastor." When I finally asked if that was a lie, staff member #3 smiled nodded and just walked away. I haven't been to Hacienda in about 6 years, now I know why. On a mini road trip we found this Mexican restaurant to accommodate our group of 12 on a Friday evening. The wait wasn't long maybe 15 minutes. The ambiance is awesome. The bar looks like a cantina with a giant fake horse. There is a mariachi singer that goes around the restaurant to serenade tables. Wonderful! The bathrooms are also clean and neatly decorated. The margaritas were on the weaker side. Tasty but a little disappointing. The chips and salsa are freshly made. Delicious! Guacamole could be ordered and made fresh at the table if you'd like. I came here on a recommendation from a friend who said they had great margaritas. We did not order any margaritas so this review is primarily based on the food and ambience. Overall the service and ambience were fine. Not too noisy with decent lighting. Ambience 8/10 Service 8/10 We ordered classic Mexican enchiladas Verde and Rojas with rice and beans. All of the food was pretty bland and watery. Mexican food should be spicy and flavorful, not taste like it belongs in a nursing home. The rice tasted like boxed instant rice and the beans were just mush. The sauce and enchiladas tasted like a uniform wet mess. You know a restaurant is not authentically Mexican when there is ketchup on every table. The best tasting thing was by far the chicken. Rice 3/10 Beans 4/10 Enchiladas verdes chicken 6/10 Enchiladas rojas beef 5/10 In either case, I will not be back. There's way too many other Mexican options in the area. We decided to eat here after getting a list of local restaurants.. besides the decor not much impressed us... it's Mexican food Staff was very nice & super friendly but not attentive. We had to shout & wave to get their attention for everything (drinks, extra utensils, desert & check) Chips & salsa came to the table... I liked their salsa (a lot of onions, yummm!) I had the carne asada (super think steak) despite that the flavors were there... topped w onions & peppers... side of rice & re fried beans were ok! my son had the kids beef burrito... it was good, he liked it but not the rice, he said it was too lumpy (&it was!) at the end he was still hungry... it was small (only one small burrito) but I guess that's why it's kids menu is all about (they could of put two!) Very friendly staff here, nice restaurant in the center of the town of Suffern. The guacamole is mashed up right in front of you, and my favorite part is they can leave out the cilantro (sorry cilantro fans, tastes like soap to me). I got the chimichanga (deadpool's favorite). They were okay, the beef was a little dry, but the flavor was good. The prices here are great, good atmosphere, and great service. At the end of dinner we even got mudslide shots for free. read more

I have never had a bad meal here, until 2 nights ago I usually go with enchiladas which are amazing, but thought I would try chicken fajitas. Requested ONLY onions, but it came out with mushrooms and I think tomatoes(didn't look like peppers). I have never ordered fajitas in a restaurant that didn't come out "sizzling". Decent mexican food I've been here several times. The salsa and chips are consistently the highlight of the visit. The entrees are pretty good. On my most recent visit I ordered enchiladas verdes. While overall the food was good, the beans were a bit watery and the enchilada itself was fairly soggy. The service on this occasion was subpar. The restaurant only had a few tables with customers and yet the waiter still couldn't keep up. So this is like my favorite spot to get tacos I live in Ramsey and if I could go to lower Bergen county I'm sure I could find something similar that I love just as much but because I work in the area this is so convenient and so delicious I tried so many things on the menu and everything is good my favorite is the tacos el pastor , flautas chicken or steak , the guac is great . Basically I love the food I get takeout a few days a week for lunch . So if you are craving some Mexican try this place out you will not regret . The Weekends they have a singer w live music too and it's incredibly family friendly . The service was prompt and the servers are all so friendly and helpful. "Chinese or Mexican?" the hubby brought me here to get my Mexican fix on and fix I did! From the moment I walked in I knew I'd like the place. It is beautifully decorated with huge paintings. Tile throughout, even the tableland chairs scream Mexico!! Service was very quick at first but fell off just as quick. That hurt my feelings but... Oh well. Sweet Mexican horchata was muy sabroso. The menu was a delight to read being almost entirely in Spanish. Chicken quesadilla - so so Camarones al mojo de ajo - I get this almost everywhere, here is was garlic overload but not grease overload. The menu offers lots of different dishes and the margaritas are great!! Be prepared, you just might get serenaded by this in house entertainment!!
